>>16703 Awww, they're friends with benefits now! I do like that Sonic being old friends of Mighty and Ray was kept. Oh and fun fact, Sonic only ever uses the insta-shield once in Archie >>16704 Knuckles is actually pretty insightful when he's not riled up >>16709 Oh boy, more lore confirmations that prove my unhinged speculations correct! As background, Gerald studied ancient civilizations and was interested in the fourth great civilization, which created and was destroyed by the Gizoid aka Emeral.
The fresh confirmation here is that the first great civilization was the Ancients (Chaos-shaped watery aliens that created the Chaos Emeralds, and are now Chao) and that the second was the Gaians (an ancient glob-spanning civilization of humans from 10,000+ years ago that created the Chaos Emerald powered Gaia Temples and wrote the Gaia manuscripts. No one knows what happened to them).
Considering that the fourth great civilization was destroyed by a gizoid with all seven Chaos Emeralds, we can speculate that to be one of the four great civilizations, you need to know how to use the Chaos Emeralds. Originally the fourth was the Nocturnus Clan, but Sega may have changed that since Chronicles is now non-canon. They were likely still Echidnas with advanced tech that was likely based on the Ancients' designs, considering Knuckles hints at this in his Frontiers prequel animation. They'll probably be called something else though.
As for the third, I've listed the Owl civilization from South and Westside Islands, the Knuckles tribe and the Babylonians as candidates but now that we have the "must have used the Chaos Emeralds" as a criteria, we can remove the Babylonians. The Knuckles tribe and Owl civilization were at war at some point, and the Owls escaped them by using the Chaos Emeralds to break South Island off from Westside, but the Echidnas did have them when Perfect Chaos destroyed their civilization and Tikal launched them into the sky.
My guess is the Owls are the third great civilization, and the Knuckles tribe are a special case where they're more of a Master Emerald than Chaos Emerald civilization, with their Nocturnus Clan offshoot being the fourth.
Oh, and I've mentioned this before but the four great civilizations is the Asian way of classifying civilizations based on which ones developed agriculture tied to a certain river first. The ones that meet this criteria are Egypt, Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley, and China. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Great_Ancient_Civilizations
>>16710 My guess is it's to have an archeologist/historian that can actually go out in the field (i.e., where Sonic and friends will be having adventures). With Prof Pickle, he's stuck in his lab, which was fine for Unleashed since you're visiting human cities, but future games might not bother with that
>>16714 >My guess is it's to have an archeologist/historian that can actually go out in the field They could've just had Pickle do that, like make it a joke that he's out and about despite his age.
>>16715 I can't believe I'm the one saying this, but honestly I think they're going for some of that Lara Croft sex appeal. It'll be interesting to see how famed human woman appreciator Sonic interacts with her
>>16716 I know they won't to course correct from 06 but I'll genuinely find it funny and vibe for it if Sonic and Victoria have legit unintended chemistry
>>16717 They seem determined not to use anything from the comics, and wouldn't even let postboot characters appear in IDW >>16718 Her outfit's super cute and very MMZero in style. I can't wait for the inevitable rule 63 art! >voice is yum https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Crystal_Lee https://www.imdb.com/name/nm10851940/ >>16719 They 100% will even if it's unintentional. Also, I know it's a controversial opinion but Sonic and Elise were great together and no one would've complained if she looked like an Unleashed human or Victoria. Obviously they're not as cute a couple as Sonic and Knuckles, but still cute!
>>16723 I love fanart that makes Elise a bird, have posted it last thread even but honestly she's not even that bad a character even if she looks jarring, her story and emotional struggle has a lot of potential but 06 let's it down.
Yeah Victoria is proof of how to do Sonic humans that aren't Dr Eggman though Sage also honestly showed how it can be done, it's actually turned me around a bit when I was a hardcore anthros only type for a good while honestly.
Marvel Comic Invasion is literally made for me, what I've wanted since Shredders Revenge finished. Way to many character I want in as playable or bosses but I'll just say Hank Pym is priority number one for me to get in at all.
Time for an opinion that may REALLY get me crucified here but I'll say it. I don't really like Tamer's stuff. In fact, I kinda hate it. I know that's blasphemy here and my language is a bit harsh but before you lot try to crucify me like St. Peter, hear me out. Frankly, I'm filtered by the artstyle, scatalogical elements, and text-to-speech voices (I'm weak, I know) but I feel like my main issue with it is it's effect on Underground's already lousy reputation. I'll tell y'all this, I grew up watching Underground here and there, so, I have a bit of a personal connection with the series. So, it's mostly lousy rep in the fandom is to me, not helped by Tamer's stuff. In fact, I think it CONTRIBUTES to it. and maybe I'm worrying too much but I have an original idea inspired by Sonic Underground mixed with either Gun Sword or Macross and frankly, I'm worried that bringing up Underground may lead to Tamer's stuff being mentioned and I wouldn't be the happiest from it. Mainly because I'm worried it would give people the wrong impression of my series idea. I know that tamer's stuff is probably important to y'all and I'll take your word that the later stuff is genuinely good but to me it sullied an already disliked part of this franchise and to someone like me, who liked what I watched of underground, I can't quite forgive the damage it's done. If I can throw tamer's stuff a bone, some of that fanart for Aleena is Mwah! *Chef's Kiss*
>>16724 If there's one thing this franchise needs, it's more lycanthropes! >>16725 >Ronaldo’s in Fatal Fury! WTF!? >>16726 Nooo, she must be a human! Gamenic doesn't go for anthro women!
Victoria's design is absolutely fantastic and I'm really happy for Sonic Team. She's actually the culmination of over 17 year's work trying to find a suitable human artstyle post-06. We saw the over-correction with the Pixar humans in Unleashed, and then the total ban on humans until Victoria showed up in that Tailstube. From there, we saw her style applied to more humans in the Sonic Channel art until we finally got another human design in the games with Sage. >>16727 Man, I just button mash those games ;_; >>16728 As the resident Tamers obsessive, HOW DARE YOU, I'LL CUT YOU WITH A KNIFE! 🔪🔪 Seriously though, as much as I love the Tamersverse, it's a character driven slice of life drama with occasional anime-esque fights with its humor steeped in the early 00s, and that isn't going to appeal to everyone. It's worth giving the MLP videos a watch though, since it's a lot more story driven
I wouldn't worry about making your own SU-related and having it compared. Even when we storytimed some SU fan continuation comics, it was pretty much just myself and a few others referencing the Tamersverse. FWIW Tamers explicitly positions himself as a SU fan and not a Sonic fan, and there's very little audience overlap between his work and the wider Sonic fandom
>>16725 If they wanted a fighting soccer player, there's only one who can suffice >>16729 Beat 'Em Ups is about flow & crowd control, IMHO. The mashing is fun but once you get the hang of it TP, you'll love it.
>>16729 >Ronaldo’s in Fatal Fury! >WTF!? That's basically one half of EVERYONE'S reaction to this, the other half being, "Hey, his moves are pretty cool!" I personally kinda fuck with it because let's keep a spade a spade, it's basically an embodiment of SNK's current existence. SNK's is currently owned by Saudi Arabia, Rolando currently plays for a Saudi Arabian team, and SNK's stuff have always been in Latin America, where soccer and players like Rolando are beloved in. As one Todd Howard best said it, "It just works!"
>>16738 I think it's the shading. >>16735 Oh, SNK is very popular in Latin America due to the ease/cheaper cost of their arcade machines and piracy. Angel from KOF was created after a match in KOF '98 between Mexican devs & KOF devs with her creation as the wager.
The Sonic Adventure 2 adaptation will start with issue 10 but here’s a teaser! (The Sonic Adventure arc will be covered somewhere else.) By now you should be prepared for the story to be different from what you remember. But what exactly are the differences? You’ll have to wait to find out!
>>16821 >that last panel Since when did the Biolizard have hands? What a twist! Seriously though, I think everyone will be surprised by but enjoy this take on things >>16822 No worries, I've actually got several sfw comics in my backlog so always happy to step in >>16823 Griphone >>16826 >>16827 They're so cute ;_; sk_rokuro's easily one of my favorite Sonknux artists
The plan WAS to sneak in and get Knuckles and Vector out of there but with everyone running around, it’s easier to also start beating up legion goons. And I really wanted to give Charmy a power. The closest the Archie version had was size changing and that was to explain his different sizes from his early appearances. Electric stings isn’t the most original power to give a bee but it’s common for a reason.
>>16832 >Espio: You need proper discipline and training to use a gun, Ray. You just shoot people randomly! >Charmy: And throwing ninja stars into people's eyes is better? >Espio: It’s their weakness to blame, not mine.
Instead of my usual bitching about Penders, this time I've got some interesting gossip! I've been looking at the covers of his KNUCKLES OMNIBUS and the (off-center) 3d-effect text is actually at a different orientation for the title between the two texts, and different again from his name. My speculation: He's taken the font, converted into a path, and using the extrude and bevel/scale tool in Blender (a 3d modeling tool), created a 3d model for the text. He's shown some of his Blender work before, and I wouldn't be surprised if the text is gray because he can't into Blender textures (they're kinda fussy even to just get a solid color) >>16733 Yeah, I never really got to the point where my intentional moves were better than just button mashing in those Marvel Vs Capcom games. I do like Smash Bros, although some don't consider it a "proper" fighting game >Roberto Miura Now there's a guy with beefy thighs! >>16734 I guess it's just a confluence of weird factors, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. We got Sonic Chronicles because a SoA exec and Bioware exec were friends and wanted to collaborate on something >>16832 I thought Espio was a ninja, not a member of the fun police! I commented on the Patreon that Charmy (and Tails, Rouge and Cream) have the Thunder Shoot attack, which is electricity based. I'm going to try an comment there more often, although I'll be keeping my comments informative and G rated https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Thunder_Shoot
>>16834 And to show I'm not just blowing smoke, here's my 10,000 hour attempt at 3d text in Blender The "S" and "D" in Sonic Underground should be larger, but you get the idea
>>16669 The Heart of a Monster 10-13 https://thoam.the-comic.org/comics/399 He's alive! From the author could you imagine the (you)s I'd get from posting this on 4/co/? metal is so violently transgender to me. look at him.
Oh, and if anyone's wondering about 4chan's April Fool's prank, they're shutting down boards with low post counts. Of the other boards I use /3/, /diy/, /fa/, and /hm/ are already gone ;_; /v/'s got a good thread that's keeping track https://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/706929175
Wait, you mean to tell me none of you are humans? Curse the mothership, i though i was getting good data on humans with their so called "AUTISM" they all are on about.

Not again guys ;_; >>16848 My brain keeps trying to merge the events of this one with yours since they have the same name> I can't believe Mighty is two timing Surge and Trip! >>16853 Who can out waku waku whom? Find out on the next episode of Sonic vs Goku!
Good news everyone, well good news to me at least! Rapture in the Clouds has finally got to the part I've been waiting for, and revealed Knuckles' anatomically correct 4-headed little echidna! NSFW link (obviously): https://www.furaffinity.net/view/60407828/
It's been a year since /sssr/ was created on a day of jokes. It has been real fun to keep company with all of you during that time. I look forward to spending more for many years to come!
/co/ has fallen on 4chan. >>16854 >My brain keeps trying to merge the events of this one with yours since they have the same name> I can't believe Mighty is two timing Surge and Trip! It is interesting to see two comics with the same name and similar casts take completely different approaches while still drawing upon Archie. >>16856 >>16857 It is nice having a chill-ish place to discuss Sonic stuff.

It only took me 5 years! >All jokes aside, last year I gained the desire to finish this comic, and decided to roll with it. Just started getting to me that I hadn't finished a single long-term project, and I really want to put this one forward, all the way. >Unlike last time I worked on it, I have a script and a full plot planned out. No more running page-to-page like I used to. >I simplified the style a little bit, just to make it more manageable for me to draw. I work 3 days a week now, so I can't draw like a crack-head like I used to lol Despite coming out on April Fool's Day, it is confirmed to not be a joke. If you haven't read this series then I recommend it. It's not often you see a good and lengthy alternate take on Sonic Forces.
Absolutely loved the Mars Attacks! fun here. If you haven't seen the film, you're missing out and not just because it has my husbando Pierce Brosnan >>16861 I'd 100% read an OC Sonic-esque comic with that artstyle. Oh, and I recognize that artist! The busty snake lady comic's pretty good (for a heterofag comic. I swear I only started reading it because it started with the male protagonist and I didn't check the tags). >>16862 >It is interesting to see two comics with the same name and similar casts take completely different approaches while still drawing upon Archie. Yeah, it's been a lot of fun, even if I can't quite put my finger on what's bugging me with the art and plot of the other one. It's by no means bad, just odd. That said, you'll have to add Griff to yours if you want to keep up! >>16863 Everything's back to normal now, and the old threads didn't even get wiped >>16864 Posting horses on 4/co/ without getting banned was a lot of fun >>16867 Now there's a blast from the past! I really do need to update the website, if only I had my own Agent Stone to bully ;_; I've added this one to my rss feed so I'll be able to keep up with it as well
>>16854 >Cut to a pissed Trip & Surge glaring at Mighty >Mighty: Now ladies, I can explain! >Kit: This should be good......20 on Surge zapping Mighty. >Ray: HEY.........40 on my bro talking his way way out of this. >Espio: Excellent show of loyalty, Ray. 50 on Mighty going to the hospital. >>16870 I do like the fact they used Martians from other works like Duck Dodgers & Armitage(which took place on Mars).
>>16862 this place is mostly a lot of fun to talk Sonic and just sperg on ideas and so on, oh speaking of finally getting to Dr Eggman's design for my au crap
>>16878 The image uses EXIF rotation, ie. the rotation is stored in metadata. The thumbnail reads the image without the metadata, but your browser renders the full image with the metadata.
So it's an image that was saved sideways with EXIF info stating that it should be rotated 90 degrees, and your browser can read that, but the thumbnail creator can't. If you load it in an old image editor that can't handle EXIF info, you'll get the same sideways image.
>>16879 Is there a way to fix it for the thumbnail as well ?
>rotated 90 degrees Clockwise ? Cause thats what I tried doing and only the full image came out corrected. The thumbnail even rotated it counter clockwise for some reason.
>>16881 I had to find an editor to remove the 90 rotation instruction and rotate it myself. Is there an easy way to do this ? Any program made entirely for this purpose ?
Oh and to bring up the topic, any Sonic easter stuff you have been seeing in your countries ?
>>16882 Saving the image again should do it. It's what I did with comic pages that were uploaded as camera phone photos. Also rotating it when viewing while correct it. Don't even need to save it but that's what the PC does. It ultimately depends on what you're using.
Um, excuse me, spoiler warning? There’s no time to be looking at some cave painting, we got ourselves a boss battle! Next issue, things will happen. Bad things. And wait until you see the cover!
When was the last time one of you guys read a Sonic comic or played one of the games? I've gotta be frank in that my stayed up late brain is really struggling on a fair bit of my Sonic memory at moment besides the obvious stuff that's rent free wether cause I like it, hate it or just is so ingrained.
>>16889 Right, the thumbnail was not yet correct because I forgot to upload the second part of the fix.
From now on if you re-upload an image that did not have its thumbnail rotated, it will fix the thumbnail and the image dimensions accordingly. For ex. your post was still listed as 4000x3000 since the dimensions were taken with the wrong orientation; but I uploaded it again with this post and it retroactively fixed your post as well (since the file data is taken from the same place for both files).
>>16872 If the credit image of Sonic's campaign was anything to go by, he was 100% only visiting Station Square to relax at a beach surrounded by busty women >>16884 Yeah, they've added in extreme gear but there's no way they've programed Riders' physics. Won't stop it from selling though >>16886 It's one thing to ship Sonally, but to make it prophecy? Truu farr konductor! I do like the Big Arms mech getting used. It's a shame we only see it in Sonic 3 since that part of the boss fight is scrapped in S3&K >>16887 I'm re-reading late Archie to take notes on continuity for a fancomic I really need to get around to writing. It basically diverges from when Penders and Bollers left, tying up those loose ends and giving a final sendoff of their run that will hopefully re-contextualize M25YL as part of Robotnik's schemes >>16892 Thanks for going to the trouble of fixing that! >>16894 Best crack ship >>16895 It's so weird that they barely interacted in the comics. You'd think an evil take on Sonic and Tails' relationship would've had more screentime >>16898 Most of the smut (and non-smut) of these two would've been from the late 90s to early 00s so will be harder to find. Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but this site has the oldest Sonic fanfics http://doorsclosing.com/lursk/bookshire.html Oh and bonus fanfic from none other than Ian Flynn: https://www.andrews.edu/~drazen/overhill.txt
>>16902 >It's so weird that they barely interacted in the comics. You'd think an evil take on Sonic and Tails' relationship would've had more screentime That's because Ian gave most of his attention to Scourge. That amount of care and exploration should've also extended to the rest of the Freedom Fighters and their doubles.
>>16902 Sonic and Tails don't have much of a relationship in later archie. Not much of anything positive/likeable anyway. I'd say Knuckles is more of Sonic's best friend and Rotor is more of Tails' best friend.
I wish the latter had more scenes because that would have been a fun alternative at least, for example Tails talks to Rotor when he's miserable in 175 and noone else cares about him. And offscreen in Bollers stories Rotor is mentioned to be the one teaching Tails mechanics, like in the tornado during the four part 'Home' arc. I'd like a story where Rotor first recognises Tails actually can grasp what he's talking about and considers training him as an apprentice - which indirectly leads to Tails in the future being smart because Rotor decided to teach him when he wasn't.
...I think if the writers could laugh at themselves a little you could do some funny stuff with an evil archie sonic and tails >Scourge doesn't get mad or jealous when people say Miles is cooler/stronger than him, he's very proud of Miles >Scourge is Miles' wingman with girls >Scourge has 100% respect/attachment for Miles and Miles has 0% respect/worship of Scourge Kinda like that R&M episode where their evil versions genuinely cared about eachother the way their nice versions didn't.
>>16907 *it's also why Tails and Amy shouldn't have done that boring school story. Rotor could probably teach them even better. And give them detention too
I'm not 100% sure if I can storytime today but I should be able to. >>16910 Nice! I wish Sega allowed that for Sonic. I'm still curious about the Udon continuity.
>>16906 Yeah, I can see his reasoning (make anti-Sonic a threat again, and steal his girlfriend), but it meant sidelining Alicia and without giving Miles (and Patches) a power boost, they all just got neglected. I won't 100% blame Flynn for it (he honestly gets too much blame for a lot of things outside of his control), since the editor hired him to slim down and streamline the canon >>16907 >Sonic and Tails don't have much of a relationship in later archie. That's definitely an Ian thing. Dude just doesn't like Tails all that much, probably because he was kinda useless in SatAM and (IMO) he isn't interested in the games Seriously, he's done playthroughs of non-Sonic games on the Bumblecast, but never Sonic!. >I'd say Knuckles is more of Sonic's best friend and Rotor is more of Tails' best friend. Yeah, that's my reading of it too. I'd have loved to see more of Rotor and Tails hanging out, especially if Sonic was shown to be a little jealous. It'd be a great opportunity for Sonic and Tails to be as close as their game counterparts >Kinda like that R&M episode where their evil versions genuinely cared about eachother the way their nice versions didn't. lmao, that'd be perfect! Not a huge fan of R&M (Venture Bros is more my thing), but that was a great episode. Imagine being so toxic you think the ability to care for others is something you need to get rid of. Sludge R&M were genuinely nicer people! >>16908 People like to poke fun at the drug overdose story, but at least that one's exciting (and has some genuinely touching scenes). I get they wanted the anime audience, but that just did not work at all and is probably my least favorite story (that isn't M25YL) >>16910 Really!? Nice! I always wanted to collect them >>16963 Cute!
>>16915 I've downloaded the latest images of Idol✩Amy! from tapas, which brings us up to chapter 3, part 15, but looking at her xitter, it's up to part 26. Usually I'd just wait until it catches up, but we're at an exciting part so I guess it's xitter scraping time again.
Turns out chapter 3, part 25 on xitter actually is part 15 on tapas. I'm so confused ;_; Still, I've got everything I need for the next storytime
Surprisingly, Lien-Da does indeed have a friend and a competent one at that. Gae-Na didn’t do much in the Archie comics but she was by Lien-Da’s side every once in a while. But enough about them, what’s Julie-Su going to do?
>>16986 I ship them! It's a shame Gae-Na never got more screentime. Like Julie-Su, she's a pragmatic legionnaire, but too loyal to Lien-Da to ever defect >>16981 Wew! >>16982 That's a really nice take on the Greg Martin boxart design >>16983 Nice art! >>50th Wow, time really does fly.
>>16991 lmao, that's 100% the sort of faux-progressive thing Penders would do >>16992 That got me thinking of that one Captain America cover by Rob Liefield. His hyper-masculine, overly muscular art fascinates me because it's the heterosexual equivalent of Tom of Finland >>16998 Yeah, Son of Mobius was easily one of my favorites >>16999 lmao
I know that TP will love this page, especially this panel. >>17002 >Yeah, Son of Mobius was easily one of my favorites That was fun to read. And to think it stopped right when it introduced Sonic and Sally.
>>17005 They're so cute together, and considering the cover page, there's no stopping best ship! >That was fun to read. And to think it stopped right when it introduced Sonic and Sally. They always stop at the good parts ;_; Absolutely loved the combination of edge, MS paint and Spaz-esque art
>>15730 Three more pages of A Maelstrom's Mobius Misadventure has come out. These pages are very cute. I'm definitely not saying that for a biased reason.
Note: This is filler for Sonic and the Freedom Fighters. Just a cover and info page. Not the start of a new series. For now. Not only is there a lot of stuff happening on Mobius but there are other worlds with their own stories. Here’s a sneak peek at one such world. Why Modius instead of Moebius, the name of the Anti-Universe Mobius in Archie? Think of it as more streamlined naming setup with Mobius’ “b” and Modius’ “d” being mirrors of each other.
>>16563 Three more pages of Broken Future! Last time, after Sonic barely survived the Bad End of Sonic Adventure 2, he ended up on another world. 15 years later and he's being attacked by a familiar looking person.
>>17031 I had a feeling before I even opened the link. That's just awful. Easily one of my favorite artists, and a truly wonderful person by all accounts. I hope her loved ones are coping as best they can
>>17034 >The Nocturnus are the counterparts to the Dark Legion but in power >Fiona & Alica/Anti-Sally are one person >Control=Chaos Cool to see your version of Scourge and pals.
>>16967 Here's the design of the Giga Balkiry. Love how the regular Badniks have been scaled up and made more menacing. There's also more art on KB's Pixiv. I hate DeviantArt so fucking much. It's bad enough that they show me NSFW sponsored recommendations that are clearly AI generated, but the last one was Leia and Jabba the Hut ;_;
>>17016 I actually think they'd make a cute couple >>17024 >I'm definitely not saying that for a biased reason. Yeah, and I've been posting Idol✩Amy for the idol plot! >>17026 Forget the vest, she needs to start accessorizing with a parachute! >>17034 I do like this take on anti-Mobius, it's a nice mix between what we know but with an almost Other-M vibe >>17035 Dilf Sonic's back! >>17042 Two can play at that game!
>>17039 MeanBean had it right. Coming up with AUs is pretty fun. >>17040 He'd have a whole world of echidnas to fight and come out looking like the hero. >>17043 Interesting observation. Twitter discourse seems to prove you right. >>17053 >mfw that pic >>17054 I like Alicia but her having the same name as Sally's mother and of course Fiona taking her place just made her cumbersome to include. >>17113 I noticed someone hating on Sally and posting the usual stuff, including the Ron Lim art of her in that outfit. Good to see someone drew her.
Previews for the DC x Sonic comic. >>17121 Any other artist. I don't want to be hard on Ron Lim but my Chip could he not try a little harder for the peanuts Archie paid him in?
>>17121 lmao, if that happened we'd have gotten a senate hearing about furry comics corrupting the youth! I'm not even joking, there was a 1994 senate hearing on video games. Most remember the complaints about Mortal Kombat, but Sega also got in trouble for Night Trap, and interactive move game where you save teen girls from vampires. Vid related was what got them in trouble (for context, that's not a sex toy the dude's holding, he's a vampire and that's how they drain blood. Also, this is the bad end, when you don't save the girl) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993%E2%80%9394_United_States_Senate_hearings_on_video_games >>17122 >it all starts with this. a gem containing the ultimate power... >ian flynn - writer As if we couldn't have guessed! >>17123 Sonic actually says shit in Sonic X, and in front of Cream too! >>17124 Art's absolutely fantastic, ABT's really good at making Sonic characters and humans look cohesive
>>17127 Hey, at least this time it isn't song lyrics! The parallels between them are utterly fascinating. Just imagine, like Penders' TLSC, in 10 years Flynn could be trying to publish TLHT (the lost hedgehog tales)
>>17128 >The parallels between them are utterly fascinating It's just bizarre. Penders isn't really a Sonic fan and his work is well-received at first, but then rapidly goes to shit with horrid OCs like Geoffrey and bending shit around wildly to accommodate this stupid echidna story that has nothing to do with Sonic.
Ian isn't really a fan of the Sonic games (he's more into Archie) and his work is well-received at first, but then eventually goes to shit with horrid OCs like Whisper and bending shit around wildly to accommodate this Freedom Fighters/Restoration story that has nothing to do with modern Sonic.
You could even argue that they both dip into inappropriate grimdark territory, what with Penders' "First they came..." poem and Ian's Zombot crap, although the latter is at least not cheapening an IRL genocide.
>>17131 Oh I like Geoffrey, just not under Penders' pen. He was a lot better as Naugus' conflicted flunky than as the shitty James Bond-wannabe that Penders wrote him as.
From the artist: >The Order Celestite! So, for those interested, some background lore as to why the stone looks and is named the way it is. I wanted to create an opposing stone to a chaos emerald/the master emerald. In the chaos dimension, the stones are "perfect": flawless, in symmetry, and faceted very beautiful. They are also emeralds, some of the more harder (in strength/durability) you can find.
>In the order dimension, I wanted the stone to oppose that in a way.
>They aren't total opposites, in the sense that the order dimension has big overlap with how the chaos dimension works. So, in the order dimension, the thing holding the energy is also a stone.
>Yet a brittle, fragile stone: a celestite can break easily. I also wanted the order celesitite to be asymmetrical, have flaws in the facets, and all in all be a less "pretty" stone. In a sense that the stone contradicts the energy it holds:
>The chaos energy is contained in an orderly stone, the order energy in a more chaotic stone.
>And Shadow clearly doesn't feel comfortable with the orderly energy..!
>And white acrylic ink was my saviour on this page, cause making good "glows" with watercolour is quite a challenge and it is easily way more saturated than one would like :p
>Though the yellow glow around the "Order spear" is a good old yellow colour pencil.
>>17129 I'd argue Ian actually dislikes the games, despite the references. They actually play videogames on the Bumblecast and apparently you can donate to make a suggestion. It's pretty telling that the only Sonic ones are ones done by the other guy. You literally couldn't pay him to play the games. There were also numerous errors in the encyclo-speed-ia, the sort of errors you'd only make if you glanced at some wikis (which don't always have the correct information) and weren't massively obsessed with the games.
That said, I don't think you have to be a Game!Sonic fan to write him well. While there is some depth to him (and the rest of the cast), he's a pretty straightforward character in general. Cocky but friendly personality, hates oppression, loves adventure, fights Eggman because it's fun, spends his downtime relaxing and reading, etc. It's why IDW!Sonic disgusts me outside of a few stories neither written by Evan nor Ian
As for Penders, yeah, his writing lows are way worse than Ian's, and bizarrely tonedeaf. Also, Ian genuinely cares about Archie!Sonic
>>17130 Like retro videogames, the price of stuff like this has been massively inflated due to speculators. Fun fact: it's all a massive scam set up by a guy that did the same thing to the collectable coins market. About a decade ago, I was able to pick up a pair of large Sonic 06 and Secret Rings cardboard posters for $100. Now they'd probably sell to some speculator for ten times that. I don't even collect retro games anymore since games that'd go for $20-50 are also going for ten times that >>17131 He's a lot of fun once anyone other than Penders writes him, and very handsome once his design was Segafied >>17137 And he's just been upgraded to be even more destructive!
The Dark Legion continues to be picked apart but they’re not the only ones reaping what they sowed. Starline and Maw have their own major problem to deal with.
>>17173 lmao >>17171 Santa beats Darkseid every year, and Sonic (kinda) defeated Santa in Sonic X, ergo Sonic can beat Darkseid! >Based! I'm just glad I merged all those pages. I'd be storytiming it for months otherwise!
>>17177 >>17178 I hate powerlevel fags so goddamn much. Yes it's important to keep them reasonably consistent within a series, but Flash was making a quick off-the-cuff remark in the middle of a dangerous situation to tell Sonic that Darkseid is bad news.
It's not like he took out a fucking whiteboard and dry-erase markers to make a detailed comparison between Darkseid and Solaris' power levels. He doesn't even know who Solaris is.
>>17176 I'd have used pic related, gotta let the readers know there'll be fanservice! >>17177 Powerscaling's dumb (and the least interesting part of any fiction), but that one anon had the right idea about Luthor and Eggman teaming up. Just imagine, instead of Darkseid, we'd get kryptonite powered badniks, hilarious Joker/Luthor-tier banter, and an excuse for Sonic and Superman to hang out
>>17182 >Flash was making a quick off-the-cuff remark in the middle of a dangerous situation to tell Sonic that Darkseid is bad news. Yeah, the remark was just Flash's way of saying this is someone that he takes seriously (well that and to tell the readers the stakes are high, so but the next issue)
It does raise an interesting point though. The Flash isn't actually talking about power scaling, but safety. The Flash has been to lots of different dimensions, all with different rules. He knows that Sonic's his world's equivalent of a superhero, but has no idea if it's a lighthearted world where Eggman treats villainy like a job but would never intentionally hurt anyone seriously (like Boom), or if Sonic's world is dangerous enough that even superheroes can die
Sonic may be the fastest thing alive, but he looks like he's stepped out of a children's cartoon, where for all the Flash knows getting hit in the head with a hammer just causes a comically large bump. Sonic acts like it's all a game and that saving the world is just fun for him (which it is), but the Flash doesn't know him well enough to know that he actually does take things seriously and has witnessed many people die due to Eggman's schemes
>>17183 absolutely agreed, I've never cared for Darkseid except that Michael Ironside made him cool in the cartoons and that they should've focused on DC villains that actually fit the crossover or more vitally have a personality.
Oh my, would you look at the time? It's time for me to play devil's advocate again! I say this as someone who's never really cared about powerscaling, but personally I don't quite like the hostility towards powerscalers right now. Not that I don't understand where the hostility is coming from, some powerscalers can be REALLY annoying about it but, keyword on SOME not ALL. Maybe it's my "Live and Let Live" mentality speaking but I think wishing herpes on them and calling the mere idea "dumb" is a bit harsh. As I've said in the beginning of this, I'm no powerscaler and thus I don't really pay attention to all that. And I think some people here should take the simple advice of pay attention to the stuff you like, ignore the stuff you don't. I know it may be hard in fandoms like Sonic, Dragon Ball, Superheroes, etc. but it will help you in the long run. But what do I know?
>>17186 I was exaggerating mostly for comedy but it's mainly just how they suck out all the fun out of any topic or especially crossover discussion, make threads utterly miserable with dumb arguing and frankly it's just pretty stupid with terms such as outerversal, no diff, plus just how silly it gets with figuring character strength and I think the only funny thing to come out of it was people memeing about the Kratos vs Asura video cause putting you hand up when flashed makes you faster then light lmao.
>>17185 Exactly! Darkseid may be a more cosmic-level threat, but he's nowhere near as interesting. Now that I think about it, the most popular villains aren't that inherently powerful. Luthor's not as smart as Brainiac and Joker's not as smart as Riddler, but their relationships with their heroes make them a lot more fun >>17186 I find it frustrating because it turns fun stories into math homework. Like, it's pretty obvious who would actually win in a fight against Batman and Superman even with prep time™ (it's the guy that's faster than a speeding bullet). What makes a compelling story is showing how Batman could defeat Superman given the right circumstances, and still remain friends afterwards
>>17189 Funny enough Joker is the other DC villain can't really get into except for in cartoons, he's just so overdone and is just obnoxious in so many ways that I can't stand him in the comics at all, I'm a Black Manta guy if talking the DC arch enemies. Not only does he have a top tier design but I love him as this violently unhinged yet composed Ahab level hater willing to stoop to any low against Aquaman wether it's killing his kid, retiring as a fishmonger then killing everyone in the store to become Black Manta again once he hears Aquaman is back to life or having his suit make him see enemies as Aquaman so he fights better.
>>17190 I like Joker as the occasional threat but he's definitely a character that wears out his welcome quickly. The whole point is he's the embodiment of the sort of crime that killed Bruce's parents: random, pointless, gaudy and violent. Unlike the rest of the crime he fights (organized crime, heists, supervillains), this is the one type of crime he can't ever put a dent in
Joker is only Batman's main villain ideologically (if anything corruption or crime itself is his main villain), but that only works when he shows up, does something awful, and then lies low for months. Constantly wheeling him out and making like he's this world-ending threat is just wrong. BTAS understood this, and had Batman mostly fight other villains
Yeah, Black Manta works precisely because he's got a Luthor-tier obsession with Aquaman, but unlike Luthor, he has no problem admitting it and fully leans into his obsession
>>17191 It's always cute when artists make OC kids for the characters
>>17193 He makes Mr Crocker from Fairly Odd Parents look well adjusted! >Sabertooth fucking with Wolverine Oh man, I always love how smug he looks when he's doing that
>>17189 >Now that I think about it, the most popular villains aren't that inherently powerful. It's the major flaw of superhero stories. People read about superheroes because they want to read about fun adventures, but generally speaking things are more fun and interesting the less powerful and more human the characters are.
Darkseid is less interesting than Luthor, because Luthor's a human character with a unique dynamic with Superman, while Darkseid is a big growly-voiced alien with unrelatable cosmic motives (same problem the MCU villains had for a while).
Indiana Jones has fun adventures because he's a human thrown into crazy situations. Remember the awesome tank chase in Last Crusade? Well that's only possible because he's human and can't just melt the tank with his Heat Vision or whatever. Same with James Bond, he has thrilling battles with enemies in crazy locations like the Arecibo Cradle or a cargo net hanging out the back of a plane, and it's exciting because he can't just fly to safety if he falls.
A lot of the superpower stuff could be said to make action scenes worse and characters less relatable, so I think that's probably the reason the more street-level characters like Batman and Spider-Man are more popular.
>/sthg/ is dead Praise Gaia. Nothing but schizophrenic bullshit, frenzied panic over transgender people, and namefags ruining everything with their narcissism for the last 4 years. The /co/ threads were a shell of their former selves too.
I wonder what happened to some of the older posters I used to post with on /co/ in the early to mid 2010s went. Are they still into Sonic? Are they dead? Are they alive and managing to avoid catching the mass psychosis of hatred and infighting that's spread across the internet like wildfire?
>>17186 I fully understand that. I dont hate all powerscaling either - powerscaling is an inherent necessity of any media that isn't a SOL school/coffee shop/farming sim setting because it ensures that there is an internal consistency between what characters are capable of what and what they can do. Any series with characters who increase in power in any tangible way or whk have to get stronger to defeat X villain is engaging in powerscaling. By definition. Its an unavoidable fact of fiction.
What I think annoys the fuck out of pwople though is that they way many people do powerscaling online is fucking retarded, and no place does it worse than /co/, Death Battle, VSBW and their ilk. It ceases to be a fun mental exercise of keeping track of the internal consistency of characters and their abilities vs their opposition and just becomes an excuse to spout barely coherent bullshit using faulty understanding of big numbers and higher math so you can justify shitting on other people by saying "Goku solos neg diff" or other such retardation. Powerscsling, when done well, is fun. Powerscaling when done poorly is utterly miserable - and the vast majority of battleboarding sites suck at it, so the poor depictions of it become the norm in the eyes of many.
>>17228 Powerscaling between series/continuities is always stupid unless it's a fanfic or crossover in that case the author is just applying their own powerscale between characters.
But it's stupid to say stuff like "goku can beat sonic" or vice versa because these two characters will never officially meet or exist in the same universe, unless you specifically write the context this exists in. Whoever wins is completely up to whatever the author wants to write.
/tg/ and Jumpchain refugee here. This situation has been utter ass but it's also definitive proof that 4chan was irreversibly going to hell. I seriously hope its a wake-up call regardless if the site ever comes back or not.
>>17206 >>17207 I have to wonder if ABIB and all the other retards regret giving /pol/ and the Sharty so much power and defending them for so long instead of banning the fuck out of them the instant they cropped up like they should have from the beginning. I honestly doubt it though.
>>17230 Powerscaling between series or continuities is inherently a crossover. And it's not as though we haven't had official crossovers between media properties before, where the internal logic still applies whether it's one author or a dozen.
Determining how strong X or Y character from other media is compared to other characters from different settings comes purely down to analyzing their objective scales, abilities, and general levels of skill. Or 'feats' if you prefer. The problem is this becomes much harder for characters in relatively similar weight classes like Sonic and Goku than it is for others and thats what leads to miserable arguments and shitflinging. It's easy enough to say that something like Gan from the Dark Tower destroys Sonic or Goku, but much harder to determine who wins between those two in a straight 1v1 blasting match. Throw in brand loyalty, /dbs/ insanity, poor reading comprehension and general hatred of one side for the other, and that's how you get most debstes rapidly bresking down.
>>17233 Wouldn't be surprised if the internet starts to just fall apart from here on out. It's gone to irredeemable shit. There are some decent parts of it (being able to find fanfics and fanart easy) but that's about it at this point.
It's just a time sink that makes people miserable and hateful now. It didn't fulfill its original promise (bringing the world together by making people more educated and understanding), it accomplished the exact polar opposite. It's a failure.
>>17233 Doubt it. That place has become a total walled garden and despite losing most of the shit that made it worth using for the common pleb, it's still very much THE site for a bunch of major institutions, government agencies, and so on. If something like this happened there, the offender would be found in minutes and would have a very bad time.
>>17234 The big problem is that so many parts of it got taken over by people who just plainly don't care about anything beyond having some petty powertrip over others or raw capitalistic greed. The shit with 4chan for example never would have happened if ABIB and the godawful moderation team hadnt been given total power and carte blanche to do whatever they want to the site because hiro couldnt give less of a fuck. The sharty coming into existence, /pol/ taking over almost the entire goddamn site, every discussion devolving into screeching "tranny tranny tranny" at people until they give up and leave, schizos destroying every dingle place for earnest fiscussion snd running out shole swathes of people from the site, etc. All of that comes right back to ABIB activdly and explicitly letting those people in and defending them by banning anyone who tried to fight back.
The internet is dying entirely because nobody bothered permabanning or removing these psychopaths before they took root. Instead, literally everyone in power gave them platforms for them to take root and everyone else just tried ignoring them and hoping they'd go away. Which obviously didn't fucking work.
>>17233 I hope not. After the abusive judge in my country threatened anyone with a huge fine for acessing it I've been rooting for it to thrive just to spite the bootlickers that kept pushing everyone to go bluesky.
>>17234 That's because some motherfuckers weren't put in check when the opportunity arose. /pol/ & /qa/ should have never gotten to the level they got. /v/ shouldn't just be /b/ half the time.
>>17238 /pol/ & /qa/ got to where they got entirely because the head mod and his flunkies wanted the site to just be /pol/ and nothing else, but couldnt't overtly delete every other board without giving all the non-retarded people motivation to mail a billion pipebombs to their houses. Anyone who spoke out about the visible collapse of site culture, or /v/ becoming /bpol/ 2.0., or how schizos ruined every single ongoing discussion got banned for 3 days (or more) and told point blank to shut up, any attempts to reach out and reason with the staff on the IRC got ignored or flagrantly mocked and disregarded (which everyone here knows from experience), any mods who wanted to fight for the site and its users by cleaning shit up were unceremoniously kicked from the staff, etc.
They wanted /pol/ and /qa/ to get this bad. And now theyre merely reaping what they have sown.
>>17239 Yeah, I got banned twice off of /v/ for telling a /pol/fag off. My post was "off-topic". The thinly veiled political thread reached bumped limit. And the infuriating part is the assholes feel they're on a crusade and need to keep /v/ shit.
>>17240 I was on /vg/ in its horror general and things were going fine until the unhinged sissyschizo came in and started ranting about /pol/shit amongst a vast assortment of other retarded nonsense, especially his personal crusade against DBD. Threads went from finally starting to semi-consistsntly reach bump limit, to being dead in the water due to this one insane schizo constantly talking to himself and shitting them up. And when I explained what was going on to an anon who was unfortunately new to the situation (not even directly addressing said schizo), I got hit with 3 days for being "off topic". But the mods never once touched the sissyschizo with anything more than a psa on the back. I have never decided to ban evade harder before.
The site's rot culminating in the sharty nuking the whole thing is entirely on them for not doing a damn thing to prevent it and instead choosing to actively encourage it at every turn. Fuck them.
>>17241 Funniest thing was during April Fools it showed how easy it is to shit on /pol/. When they went down their bitching was amazing. If only they kept them deleted.
>>17198 Way past cool! I really should use the board index more often >>17202 Yeah, I like it when characters that are less powerful face off against what seems like impossible odds. What's great about Superman and Luthor is that it inverts the relationship, where the guy that has no realistic chance of winning is the bad guy that's somehow able to go up against a demigod
Indiana Jones and Bond are two of my favorite franchises for exactly those reasons. Just two extremely competent guys that you just know are going to face off against something absolutely ridiculously powerful
>>17206 Wow, that sucks. It may be a cesspool, but I'd rather it get better than worse. It is kinda funny though >>17211 Oh boy, I hope he's ready for all the Sonknux porn I'll be sending! >>17220 I sometimes wonder too. The Internet seems a lot smaller than it used too be, despite more people being online. If 4chan goes, I know this will be the only place I post anything. Not sure how to feel about that >>17224 Aww, they're working together! >>17231 >spoiler Welcome! >ABIB and all the other retards They spent over a decade carefully cultivating an absolutely horrid culture. Now it's up to them to reap what they sowed >>17236 Couldn't agree more. 4chan could have been the best place on the entire Internet for people to discuss their interests but instead we got a shithole filled with schizos and ruled over by crab-buckets >>17241 Same. I've been hit with bans just for pointing things out, but apparently allowing schizos to take over threads is okay. It's all so tiresome
>>17247 To be fair, the entire reason we even have a board here is because of 4/co/'s terrible (and frankly vindictive) moderation. Seeing the consequences of their actions is more than a little cathartic
>they were using a decade+ old copy of FreeBSD as their server's OS Wow, and I thought I was lazy! Honestly, if this is the sort of lackluster sysadmining 4chan has, I can't see them being able to do a successful full reinstall for days. Hopefully I'm wrong though >>17249 I miss /lgbt/'s /wcg/ and the Tamers /mlp/ threads ;_;
>>14001 Out of the Blue 2-21 https://www.deviantart.com/artisyone On the last few pages, Antone kidnapped Amy and Nicky transformed into Sonic. Let's see how this chapter ends!
>>17258 Out of the Blue 2-24 https://www.deviantart.com/artisyone And that's it for now! The artist did mention they're slowly getting back into the swing of things so hopefully we'll get more soon
>>17251 Was fittingly me saying how snake characters are the greatest, was in the Usagi Yojimbo storytime in response to a page of Lord Hebi sitting cross coiled. Only dabbled in the series before with library readings and playing as Usagi in Shredder's Revenge but man it's such a fucking great comic and the storytime was a lot of fun. Even mentioned the Archie ride Sonic there funny enough or when I was in the IDW TMNT one.
>>17260 >Was fittingly me saying how snake characters are the greatest lmao, I wonder who could be behind that post! >>17261 Hey, it's not our fault 4chan's down, and I did post the comic updates!
>>17245 >>17250 There's a good chance they flat out wont be able to get the site back up and running so long as the sharty still exists - they apparently have access to the full code, and given how long it would take to get the site adapted to newer systems rather than the outdated garbage they're using, they simply can't afford to suddenly switch codebases right now. Especially since I wouldn't be surprised if hiro has noticed and is breathing down their necks for their total fucking incompetence.
None of which really matters if the sharty remains, since they can just keep on taking the site down every time it comes back up so long as they exist and have backdoors into it.
>>17251 My last post was talking to someone in the Jumpchain general on /tg/ about the sharty raid - specifically telling them to pause the music they'd placed above the banner and just ignore it since I assumed it was the mods celebrating bringing /qa/ back for some reason. Shame how that turned out.
>>17264 Yeah, now everyone knows just how outdated their entire tech stack is there's no way a simple restore would suffice. Best thing they could do is hire some contractors that specialize in this sort of disaster management, ones that could quickly rebuild the site with the latest libraries/OS/PHP/etc. Of course, that would cost a heap, but I doubt they have any internal talent capable of this >I wouldn't be surprised if hiro has noticed I'm not 100% convinced he remembers he owns the place, though it would be funny if he fires RapeApe over this
>>17258 Considering that he's basically future Nicky, it's entirely understandable. He has powers, more experience, and if you assume he's faced even half of what Sonic has in other continuities, then hes taken the plunge into multiple life-or-death situations. That would dull or destroy any nerdy reservations and social anxiety Nicky may have had really quickly.
What Im more curious about is how nobody puts two and two together despite them looking almost exactly alike.
>>17267 The upper mods, including RapeApe, would most likely have had to message hiro once the full scope of the crisis became apparent. Hiro is the money guy, and the only one who can reliably hire all the people needed to fix this in any readonable timeframe as well as the only one who could push for legal action against the sharty. Because truthfully, that's what it's going to take to fix this mess - getting the sharty completely shut down and getting a team of contractors onboard to upgrade the entire site.
>though it would be funny if he fires RapeApe over this Even if a lot of them don't lose their jobs over this blunder (and let's be honest, they mostly won't - hiro doesn't care), they're all still fucked in the long-term. Everyone has access to their emails and personal info now, including the schizos they've all spent the better part of a decade cultivating. It will take nothing more than one especially determined psychopathic nutcase tracing their emails to ruin RapeApe's and his staff's lives.
>>17266 The heart wants what the heart wants! >>17268 The whole Sonic is a future Nicky that got so fast he can run back in time to help his past self out is such a fascinating concept. He even goes back and saves his/Nicky's father's life in the war, meaning he wouldn't have been born otherwise >What Im more curious about is how nobody puts two and two together despite them looking almost exactly alike. You could say the same for He-Man and Prince Adam. The only reason nobody realizes is because their alter egos are so much more confident >>17269 >S-sorry to bother you Mr Hiro Sir, but we haven't done a security patch to the server since Moot was in charge and the entire thing's been hacked. Also, all the details of every mod and janitor was leaked so soon every anon will know our names and addresses Imagine having to make that call! >getting the sharty completely shut down I just don't see that happening, if/when it goes down it'll be due to internal drama >It will take nothing more than one especially determined psychopathic nutcase tracing their emails to ruin RapeApe's and his staff's lives. Kiwifarms has already made some progress, and I can't imagine it'll take long before the big names get doxxed. I'd be genuinely worried if I were them, because there are dozens of schizos that would love to take their ban appeals IRL >>17271 Pic related!
While I'm not actually that bothered by it, I can't help but think about our low activity. If you look at /md/, they already have over 200 threads, and it was made after /sssr/. I guess 4chan going tits up gave me a sort of expectation of more migrates
>>17295 Who knows? Fuck knows where I'm going to find where all the people in the Jumpchain general went to, or what happened to the Furry Games and Unfiction generals on /trash/.
>>17296 MD already had a ton of people willing to venture there because ALL Murder Drones threads on /co/ were being targeted by the mods and jannies, not just specific ones like how our Ride threads got targeted by Pixy. So they started with more people by default. On top of that, they were more eager to push themselves and tell other peopls on the board where to go even after MD threads started being let back onto /co/ (and they were also in /trash/ for a little while) whilst we couldn't/were hesitant to do the same.
In my case, I've been here since before we even got a dedicated board so I knew where to go after the site got fucked. But everyone else is no doubt scattered between a million different altchans, subreddits, and god knows where else.
>>17296 Sounds like it's moving faster than even /pco/ which I always thought would be the most active board. Plus4chan /co/ is even slower than this board. I remember the times the other board was mentioned and it seemed like nobody was interested aside from some of us. There's also our peculiar name and language it's presented in. As for overall activity, I always say that everyone here can make their own threads and participate as they please as long as it's on topic. >>17301 We know that Kitsune can be fixed. The only problem is that she fucking dies. But that's a "potential" future or whatever.
>>17306 Yes it's completely fine. There's even a bit of posts in the Tamers thread about it since he does MLP videos as well. Plus4chan doesn't have problem with much of anything. Just make sure you spoiler porn with the NSFW tag or take it to /pco/. That and no AI.
>>17297 >or what happened to the Furry Games Every time I checked that over the years it was one of >dead for half a year >talking about the same 5 games that won't ever be finished and I don't remember if a wizard at some point made an online txt with a known game list that'd be more searchable than itch.io, and I've personally been too scared to just search google for any kind of place that has one of those.
It was sad that no-one ever brought up historic artefacts, be they e621's flash games or things like Project X, which I still don't know why it was shitcanned nor why all their web pages and accounts still technically exist.
>>17307 >That and no AI. That was one of my least liked parts of /sthg/ I could never decide if the anon begging for images was the proompter samefagging for attention or an underage anon who shouldn't be on 4chan
Oh this page is going to be wild. >>17313 Probably not but I wasn't expecting this place getting a Murder Drones board despite it being very popular. I guess a TADC board is more likely than an MLP one.
>>17318 Now that I think about it, with Dexter it’s kinda weird that we got two forensics-focused police procedural shows set in Florida starring a redhead (Dexter is of course the superior show due to Michael C Hall’s handsomeness)
>>17308 The one that was going on over on /trash/ for a while was pretty good. Got semi-frequent schizo raids from /fvn/ crossposters, but was otherwise a great place to talk about games that you couldn't do on the rest of the site. Even got some new recs out of it and old stuff being posted.
>my favorite so bad it's good homo comic's finally updating after a 6 month hiatus >I can't post it on /wcg/ with a catty comment >now plus4chan's been invaded by soviet blimps Fuck the pain away my bed is in ruins ;_; If anyone's interested the comic's called The Young Protectors and it is something else
It definitely has some fanservice but they literally skip over entire should-be-cool sequences because they’re rushing it so much. Also the art gets kinda bad in some places, though not everywhere. Ian’s in full reference mode because it’s so rushed they gotta force dialogue so only Sonic and Flash are actually fun together. Amy and Wondie have a cute shot where she rides her around in her car. And Shadow gets given a lot of cool action sequences and chaos control and monologues and etc.
Also Tailsfags aren’t gonna like this series it seems. They take a lot of pain to make sure everyone gets their cool fighting moment, except for Tails who does nothing. They have a big teamup fight against Darkseid for half the issue where everybody does their part multiple times, but Tails just disappears and doesn’t even help when Sonic, Amy and Knuckles are all pulling at something or attacking something. He literally just disappears and is never seen. Ian must have bought into the propaganda that Tails doesn’t fight. It’s true what they say only /ss/fags care about Tails now.
Also BIG SPOILERS but…the Justice League aren’t the only DC heroes who will appear. That’s all I’ll say.
>>17342 The worst part is how Eggman is just an after thought. He was the best part of the Megaman crossover, here he’s just a nothing character and “dies” offscreen.
>>17344 oh yeah i forgot that technically happens lol Well at least he got to smash through the Darkseid ship defences before he went. I had thought he was gonna teamup with Darkseid though! I was mistaken
>>17344 >>17345 He was already on the faceship before the notgenesis wave happens, he survived. The issue 4 solicit spoiled that, he survives then partners with Darkseid
>>17347 Tails has always been a fighter. He’s been fighting for way longer than Amy has, and Sonic’s needed his to help fight since Sonic 2. If they get to fight so should Tails.
>>17349 That’s bullshit, he’s every bit as strong and powerful as they are and he’s always been fighting in the games. He’s got a spindash too, he should be allowed to use it instead of being a cheerleader to the cringy hedgehogs
>>17348 Yeah honestly, Sega has been making a conscious effort to hype up Amy thanks to years of being one controversial character while the mostly take Tails popularity for granted and just do whatever. It does result in the more casual audience thinking that Tails only ever been good for tech support when that's not really true. Just for comparasion sake, Amy's big arc in adventure 1 was standing up and saving herself and her bird friend from one of Eggman's robots, Tails arc was about standing up to Eggman himself and saving the day when Sonic's not around. Also SA2 having Tails stuck in a mech did result in some people assuming that finding his own way would be to go all-in with tech and rival Eggman, but not really, it would be one thing if the lesson he learned in the past game was about how he needs that to stack up to Eggman but not, Tails did just fine one his own, no tricks, no items 1v1 final destination lol. So yeah, my silly rant is about how nowadays they have hyper focused on Tails' one big talent while neglecting the other areas, that he's, quite frankly also gifted. Just because he's not the best at those things doesn't means he's the worst, and when looking at certain feats from him, there's arguments to be made that he can stack up. It's Tails after all, keeping up with the best is what he's all about.
>>17355 While it is a game cast only thing, I'm still counting it since there should be another IDW thread and there's no need for a thread for just this comic. I also realized that every time I reply I got a C&C cutscene. That adds an extra click to every post but still much better than having to do captcha.
>>17354 Tails was way smarter in Tails Adventure when he would build weapons. And he fought then as well. He had an electrically charged spindash and he could punch. What does he do now, tap on the ipad and give “info”? That’s not smart. That’s just Sonicfags wanting him to be pathetic for their ego boost
>>17349 >>17352 Tails legit has some underrated feats that some characters can't boast about. Like, he straight up beat a bloodlusted Sonic (plus the devil, Ifrit) back on Rivals 2 or fighting Shadow (albeit a tired one) to a standstill. The Egg Walker one is good but it's the most recognizable one. On his own game he was insane, napalm bombs and was wielding a hammer before Amy, and depending at how you look at it, Tails was either capable of taking on an entire army before meeting Sonic, or as soon as his big bro is not looking, Tails will go and create weapons to solve conflicts, permanently. Love this lil' nigga, the current situation is sad, wish things would get better, maybe they getting better or maybe not, but it's tiring to see the pontential man, fuck that, I want the potential now!
W-WELL I'LL BE HOG WALLERED!! S-SONIC-SAMA, FLASH-SAMA, and DARKSEID-SAMA?! W-what can I do for you FINE BVLLS on a DAY LIKE THIS?! EHHH?! What’s that!? SONIC has gathered the CHAOS EMERALDS so he can POWER UP to S-SUPER SONIC?! And then he and DARKSEID are going to SPITROAST FIONA?! I’ll have to WATCH as she is PENETRATED by two COSMIC COCKS, one GOOD and one EVIL, but both LARGER THAN MINE?! Wait, WHAT?! That’s NOT ALL?! FLASH-DONO is gonna use the SPEED FORCE to RIP THE SPEED from MY BODY, just as he did to INERTIA!? I’ll be turned into a LIVING STATUE and FORCED TO STARE, with eyes that take a THOUSAND YEARS TO BLINK, at MY BELOVED FIONA getting FUCKED HARD by a pair of LIVING GODS?!?! And then, you’ll bring in the JUSTICE LEAGUE, the LEGION OF DOOM, the CRIME SYNDICATE, the FREEDOM FIGHTERS, the RESTORATION, TEAM DARK, every single NEW GOD, every single AMAZON, the ENTIRE ATLANTEAN ARMY, every LANTERN CORPS, and the SUICIDE SQUAD to FUCK FIONA in front of me TOO!? I’ll be STUCK as a STATUE getting KEKED for WEEKS ON END?!!? A-and when that’s done, you’ll TRAP ME in the SOURCE WALL, and GREEN LANTERN will create a HOLOGRAM of SONIC and SCOURGE fucking FIONA, which I’ll have to STARE AT FOR ETERNITY?!!? W-well, all I can say is…..YABBA DABBA DOO, I’m such a HAPPY COSMIC KEK!!!
>>17347 use his Tailsswipe (the most powerful attack in SA1 and Sth05) Thunder Shoot (most powerful attack in Heroes) Spindash (Sonic did this so it's allowed) use his boulder-smashing punch from Tails Adventure (Knuckles did this) use his hammer (Amy did this) use his time slowing device from chronicles (Shadow did this) use his forcefield robot (Silver did this) hack the computer (Flash did this) create the strategy/plan (Batman did this) Just help wrestle with Darkseid like the others were raze Napalm bombs, Dynamite bombs, Proton Torpedos (the things they use in Star Wars, Batman was using basic flash grenades)
>>17357 why are you assuming fans of Sonic the main character want Tails to suck? like they have no control over how he gets written in the series it's all on Sega or whatever writer at the time how he comes off
How can Eggman be stopped when he’s already won? What’s worse is the that Freedom Fighters have to fight against the doctor’s newest mechanical menace without Sonic! Watch out, he’ll crush you!!!!!!!!
>>17338 Metal continues to be best boy >>17344 Eggman and Luthor scheming together is a sorely missed opportunity >>17347 He's canonically the hero of Station Square. The Mayor even gave him a Chaos Emerald for curb-stomping Eggman and diffusing his bomb. He also at the very least fought Eggman to a standstill in SA2, and went super with Sonic and Knuckles to defeat Metal Overlord in Heroes >>17351 His namesakes can literally cut through metal and enjoys working with explosives. He's kinda terrifying when he's not on his iPad >>17357 >What does he do now, tap on the ipad and give “info”? That’s not smart. It's lazy writing since they can just have him infodump about whatever instead of having the characters interact with the world >>17365 Thanks for the storytime! >>17440 At least she's not falling this time!
Beyond joyous seeing the other site getting its demise. Karma for banning restlessly some cool cartoon obscure walrus character (though my April Fools themed thread didn't get purged, so hopefully they have really took the hint and fired the stupid insane mod).
Also, just to be sure, posting uncropped porn with obvious hiding additional layers on genitals is a-ok here, I think? Can't find rules section here.
>>17454 Welcome back Rotor-bro, it's been far too long! Hope you've been keeping out of trouble ;)
>Also, just to be sure, posting uncropped porn with obvious hiding additional layers on genitals is a-ok here, I think? Can't find rules section here. It's fine as long as nothing naughty's showing, and even the occasional NSFW is allowed if it's marked NSFW. Cropped porn's generally fine if it's on-topic. I even posted some up-thread: >>16855
>>17476 Think I saw it happen in Steel Angel Kurumi Though the superspy was constantly chasing the boy around the country and never actually met him face to face until the OVA
Tails and Rouge probably got up to some fun adventures when they were working together at GUN in Chronicles
>>17489 I've been planning on archiving those for a while, but my scripts broke when plus4chan updated the image backend. I'll be working on fixing that over the next week though! >>17560 I just had a look and he tried his usual tactic of shitting up the thread (and of course replying to himself) but mods stepped in, deleted his posts and banned him. Their /sthg/ thread is actually pretty comfy, and looks a lot like early /sthg/. Really goes to show that competent moderation can foster good discussion. The more I think about it, the less I mind if 4chan ever comes back. I'm still catching myself absentmindedly catching myself opening a 4chan tab. I don't even really enjoy the site all that much anymore and yet I still waste so much time on it. It's honestly an addiction and I hope it's down long enough that I can break the habit
>>17564 ha yeah I still from memory try to check /co/, I've got the threads I had fun in bookmarked anycase, mainly marvel ones and funny how it took 4chan being obliterated for that twat to finally get mods stopping his shit
>finally decide to start extracting textures from Sonic 06 >spend hours combing through them looking for a world map texture >eventually realize I'm misremembering an obscure rendition of the one that shows up for like 3 seconds in Eggman's lab in Unleashed >tfw Still, I did find some local maps at least! Oh, and because I'm not going to suffer alone, here's Eggman's Sonic 06 texture! Fun fact: it confirms that he has blue eyes, and that he's had his wisdom teeth removed >>17568 If I go back I think I'll limit myself to one or two threads at a time. It's just too much of a timesink otherwise >funny how it took 4chan being obliterated for that twat to finally get mods stopping his shit He's literally a janitor so he's always been able to get away with it. I'm of the firm belief that 4chan's bizarre moderation is 100% intentional, and that all the schizos shitting up threads is how they like it
>DC x Sonic the Hedgehog #5, Main Cover by @PabloMCollar Why do the Sonic characters dress up like the DC characters but the DC characters don't dress up like the Sonic characters? Sure most of them will be nearly naked fair's fair.
ATTENTION /SSSR/ WORKERS I have decided to do a very special storytime tonight, covering a comic that's likely the oldest Shadow fancomic in existence, and one that has not seen the light of day in over 20 years.
7pm EST tonight, be there or be square!
>>17570 lmao, maybe they should've had Rouge fill in for Amy on this cover >>17571 You know, all this dupe Knuckles to steal the Master Emerald plot has really backfired for Eggman! >>17572 Welcome to the right side of history Konductor!
Aside from Tim Curry, the Soviet lady's easily my favorite posting companion >>17577 And we're done for now. At my current rate, there's about another 10 storytimes to go ;_;
The road to redemption and forgiveness is forged in actions, not just words. Never mind being in a relationship with Knuckles, will Julie-Su even be considered a friend or ally after this?
>>17633 Poor Julie-Su, she looks so wreaked with guilt ;_; I'm glad we're spending more time on building trust, Penders just had them soul-touch and then all was forgiven. Fun fact: the werewolves in Twilight have their own version of the soul-tough, clearly Stephenie Meyer's a fan of his work at least!
Lien-Da's not done yet! >>17635 Knuckles did have a day to cool down and focus his hate on another echidna girl. Between this, Mighty tossing him into a tree, and later on when he gets betrayed by Eggman, Knuckles seems to be having a lot of trouble with people he thought he could trust. >>17637 Go for it. I keep telling people that if they want a thread then they're free to make one. If you build it, they will come.
>>17638 Yeah, it's nice to see him get hot-headed and emotional, but also take the time to consider things from others' perspectives when it's not the heat of the moment. I'm glad they're finally allowing game!Knux to do that again >>17645 Nice!
>>17651 It's always great to see when a comic comes back and updates frequently too. I don't know how many pages are left but the artist has said they planned to at least end it. I wonder if that's soon or later and if there will be more comics from them after this. That Blaze comic could be finished but I remember it being labeled as non-canon to Teaching of Fear and an alternate canon version was mostly text with some images.
I would like to create more threads for the larger comics that are still updating. I have some that I've been meaning to do for a while. Wish A Sly Encounter could be brought over but I guess it's fine still being on /co/. And I think I'll create a new general thread before getting close to image limit. I don't know if it bothers anyone that the thread is farther down since it can't be bumped anymore.
>>17196 The Heart of a Monster 10-16 https://thoam.the-comic.org/comics/402 Metal Sonic: >I'm the real Sonic Also Metal Sonic: >Grows like a hundred legs and shoots lasers out of his mouth
From the author: >wouldn't a cliffhanger like this be fucked up?
>>17653 I really hope we at least get a satisfying conclusion, although I get the feeling they're interested in doing more Sonic comics >>17654 Same. I was thinking of doing The Heart of a Monster, but that'll have to wait until I've finished that ancient Shadow comic. Idol✩Amy! works a lot better all posted together and the anons seemed to enjoy reading it here or maybe they're just big fans of Jem and the Holograms >Wish A Sly Encounter could be brought over but I guess it's fine still being on /co/. I'd also prefer it here, but since it's the main reason we ended up on plus4chan it's nice to keep it there for historic reasons
>>17633 This is what I've wanted from Archie that it didn't really give me. She may help now, but it won't instantly fix the trust. It's something to take a while to build again since she hurt him.
https://www.deviantart.com/colin3145 This Pibby mashup comic is still going and is at 170+ pages. I have no intention of posting more than what I did a while back since all I care about is Sonic. >>17661 I wanted Knuckles and Julie-Su to interact more. Crazy how little they did with Penders writing them. And while Ian did a much better job, it wasn't enough. Then came the Pendering...
>Paramount plans on developing ‘SONIC’ spinoff films. I still think about the turnaround from the disastrous 2019 trailer. Reversing one of the worst design choices ever really helped Paramount out.
>>17664 >I wanted Knuckles and Julie-Su to interact more. Crazy how little they did with Penders writing them. And while Ian did a much better job, it wasn't enough. Then came the Pendering... Oddly enough it was Karl Bollers who probably did the most with her, he fleshed out her relationship with Lien-Da a bit in the Return to Angel Island Arc. Penders wrote her to be as boring as the rest of his characters and Ian actually wrote her as a bit of a crybaby.
>>17675 Personally I like how Penders wrote her but didn't like how she didn't interact with Knuckles that much. Ian gave that to me but you're right in that she did cry too much. Bollers was fine for the brief time he wrote her. I liked how Penders wrote her as confrontational with Knuckles before falling for him. Again it would've been better if they interacted more. She interacted more with Vector and their hate for each other felt like it should've been her and Knuckles' early relationship.
It’s going to be a while before Sonic’s parents are going to be properly introduced in the main comic so these bonus pages are a great way to tide everyone over until then. As always, this page raises more questions than it answers. And that’s on purpose. It’s all one big puzzle with the pieces slowly falling into place. But there are SO many pieces left.
>>17686 So Mephiles is laying out some plan that is thousands of years in the making? Bernadette is a princess and has that sword?! Does that make her Igraine if Sonic is Arthur? I'll tell you, these pages work because they do keep me reading!
>>17632 Amy's Family 3-12 https://www.deviantart.com/princessgalaxia9 >even sonic's game piece has a shock collar lmao Oh, and in case anyone's wondering about how I get the file sizes down (Amy's Family and Hazard Horizon are usually over 10MB each), I use imagemagick to reduce their size by 50% and then convert them to jpegs with 98% quality. This converts all pngs in the current directory:
>>17677 Yeah, I may Pender's biggest anti-fan, but he did lay some great groundwork with Knuckles and Julie-Su >>17684 I ship them! >>17685 The nuking social media would easily be the greatest (and cheapest!) health intervention ever enacted on this planet. I genuinely think it would lead to better health outcomes than banning leaded gasoline and restricting smoking put together >>17686 Best boy Meh-Phillis makes an appearance! It's nice to see where Sonic gets his battle quipping from >Bernie's royalty I always figured Jules was some sort of minor nobility, so this is an interesting twist >swordwench lmao, this is why you have no friends Naugus! >>17688 >So Mephiles is laying out some plan that is thousands of years in the making? That really should've been what they went for in the games. He could've been behind the Time Eater, been whispering things in Infinite's ear, and been the one that manipulated Eggman to investigate the Starfall Islands, unleashing The End. It's so frustrating that they throw away every non-Eggman villain at the end of every game >>17690 Flynn did a fantastic job writing Sonic's parents, especially that scene with Scourge and Jules >>17691 >Who knows? Aside from me. I mean, I've been trying to give out hints but no one believes my Grifone-posting ;_;
So KEN PENDERS'™ KNUCKLES™ OMNIBUS VOLUME ONE is off to the printers and Penders has decided to show us what the table of contents looks like and oh boy to I have notes!
Keen Penders-watchers will notice he's taken the characters from that big commission piece he did a while back and reused them here. Remember kids: Sonic says reduce, reuse, recycle!
What really offends me is that the page numbers don't line up! This is basic typesetting and something literally every program has been able to do since the 80s. There is absolutely no excuse for this! His faux-Star Trek font is so bad, I actually have trouble reading some of the words ;_;
I'm actually interested in seeing Dan Drazen's forward though, he certainly didn't hold back his criticism back in the day.
>>17701 Some of you might remember I posted a few months back about how much comics creators get screwed and that they could make more working in fast food. Well, it turns out Penders recently wrote something similar and I actually have to agree with him. Some excerpts:
>Rich Johnston recently revealed how much a penciler starting out at Marvel and/or DC Comics would make, figuring an artist penciling a full monthly book could make over $38K a year, plus sales from selling original art as well as commissions from fans.
>One of the aspects that influenced me way back when on getting into comics wasn’t just the fun of writing and drawing stories, but the practicality of actually earning a living doing so. Take a look at pictures of people who worked for Marvel back in the late 1960’s. They wore jackets, dress shirts and ties, looking like they worked alongside Don Draper in MAD MEN. Many had families, owned homes and cars, enjoyed a night out. It was a steady gig for most, or so it seemed.
>One can earn a better living working at McDonald’s or Staples. Costco is now paying $30 an hour minimum wage to its workers. At the company my next door neighbor owns, not one of his workers makes less than $20 an hour, and they all have benefits including health care and paid tuition assistance.
Bros, Penders is making well thought arguments I actually agree with ;_; Send help!
>>17699 >Mephiles It's really sad that the most enduring fan-favorite non-Eggman villain is a Shadow recolor with the backstory and motives of an MCU villain, who made his debut in the most infamously terrible Sonic game.
>>17701 Penders being amateurish on a level beyond most Sonic fanfic writers? Say it ain't so!
>>17702 It's just sad how much the industry has fallen by the wayside. Nobody really reads comics anymore, so the artists/pencilers aren't paid as much.
>Bros, Penders is making well thought arguments I actually agree with ;_; Send help! Corporations are all so soulless and incompetent nowadays that a turd like Penders looks good by comparison.
>>17703 Yeah, he's such an interesting guy. He doesn't even have a specific beef with Sonic, and iirc Sonic doesn't even know who he is until he gets stabbed by him. The whole time travel shenanigans causing Shadow and Mephiles to become enemies was great too. For all of it's flaws, Sonic 06 does a great job of keeping its timetravel plot self-consistent
Oh, and fun fact: in the game files, Mehpiles' Hedgehog form is just called evilShadow
>>17704 >Penders being amateurish on a level beyond most Sonic fanfic writers? Say it ain't so! It's not amateurish, it's thrifty!
>It's just sad how much the industry has fallen by the wayside. Nobody really reads comics anymore, so the artists/pencilers aren't paid as much. Yeah, when you adjust for inflation, working in comics has gone from a viable career to essentially donating your time to a corporation in the hopes that you can gain enough fans to go independent.
>Corporations are all so soulless and incompetent nowadays that a turd like Penders looks good by comparison. If he'd just stuck to the creator's rights thing I think he'd be looked at much more favorably. He makes genuinely good points when he's not being salty
After 10,000 years I've finally updated the website! Most of the work has been on getting the thread archiver working again after the major overhaul plus4chan's image backend received a while back. Unfortunately, I need to download all the images from every thread again, and that will likely take several days since I don't want to bully plus4chan's server.
The new thread archives aren't up yet since there's no point without their images, but I did upload the new version of the threads page. It's undergone a major overhaul to make things a little more organized. Since we now have around 100 plus4chan threads I've split them by year instead of having a single massive table. I also redid the monthly table for the 4/co/ threads, since I want to eventually include older rides, and because we only do a few threads a year over there now.
Oh and fun fact: we've had over 320,000 posts here and on 4/co/!
>>17706 Yeah, there's something about social media, but tumblr in particular, that turn what should be at most a minor social faux pas into something warranting a new round of Nuremberg trials. They really need to chill, and artists need to start ignoring people looking to witch-hunt
>>17706 >>17707 -They should've never ban porn off of Tumblr -Twitter been a shit show for years before Musk made it worse -I've barley been to Reddit so I don't have an opinion
>>17707 Frankly, that’s what Quaver should have done. But instead, she bent the knee to them and to be blunt, made herself their bitch. Because ALL it takes is for someone to post something like pic related and this shit will happen again.
>>17712 Oh, I don’t know, anon, maybe it’s the “I personally don’t like this but instead of ignoring it and moving on like a fucking adult, I’d rather make it everyone’s fucking problem and inadvertently start a witch-hunt” shit that has become very prevalent on Twitter and was started on Tumblr?
The Sallys face off against each other! Even during the Sonic 2 arc, I knew the two wouldn’t have a meaningful confrontation until around this time. Now it’s time to see who the better Sally is! Place your bets!
>>17708 Couldn't agree more >-I've barley been to Reddit so I don't have an opinion Reddit's horrible, but a fascinating inversion of the traditional imageboard/forum design. Since pretty much all online communities follow the 1:10:100 rule (where for every one content creator, there are ten active posters and one hundred lurkers), they try to make it easy for the first two groups. Reddit instead focuses on the lurkers, allowing passive up/downvoting instead of direct engagement, which leads to those weird threaded posts where half the discussion is buried, meaning the first two groups must alter the way they engage to suit the lurkers' preferences. It's basically engagement farming instead of genuine discussion >>17711 Literally nothing wrong with this picture, it's actually pretty cute. Artists don't always realize the Knuckles Clan's males are more pink, taller, and buffer than Knuckles so it's nice to see that reflected accurately >Frankly, that’s what Quaver should have done. Any artist that signs up to social media should be forced to watch a video that explains that people like that can just be ignored >>17720 Oh man, aggressively anthro Silver with thigh-highs is just *chef's kiss* >>17724 We were denied a FF x Chaotix fight so it's actually very kind of AI Sally to help fill the fight quota. I can't believe we're already on issue 8! >>17725 Pretty sure it's that, but it could be that a password autofilled during the original post, which (I think) would be needed to delete it
>>17707 Another website update! I've uploaded the new threads, but not the images yet. So far, bold, italics and spoilers work, but not underlines and >greentext. Oh, and the cross-site links seem to be having issues as well. For example, these should appear as direct links: >>>/4chan/co/144693631 https://the-ride.neocities.org/threads/147806068.html Still, progress is progress!
