>Sega's slow descent into bankruptcy

This is something I wouldn't mind happening. I mean I know it means the loss of a ton of jobs (and let's be honest, the only bad things Sega really makes is Sonic and Aliens, besides that they're pretty damn good) but I think it's for the good of everyone that Sega, as a game developer, dies. I mean they don't even have 900k in the bank. It's Sega Sammy that has all the money back in Japan with all the pachinko machines and such.

uh

Sega's published two Alien games in the past few years, only one of which was developed by a Sega-owned studio. (The Creative Assembly) The one NOT developed by one of their studios was shit. The one done by The Creative Assembly was actually pretty good.

>just another step of Sega's slow descent into bankruptcy.

Sega, or Sega-Sammy to be precise, is nowhere near bankruptcy. It's Sega of America that's pulling in the low funds. Hence, the reconstruction.

>>232870
Sega will still make console games. No where it Sega's PR statement does it say it will give up making console games. It only states Sega will focus more on PC and mobile. The focus on digital games isn't even new. Sega only had a handful of retail games in 2014, while the rest was available digitally.

I'm not sure if Ian still comes to this site, but if he ever does the X series I hope he keeps in mind the localization changes, like how originally in the Japanese version of X2 Serges comments about Dr. Light when you beat him, which has lead to people thinking he's Wily in a robot body, Sigma himself in X5 heavily implies he met Wily, and the X-Hunters would have to have some understanding of Zero's body to rebuild it or how in X5 when you get Black Armor Zero they say that Light can't make armors for Zero but can enhance his abilities somehow, but really Light talks about releasing the power that sleeps in Zero in the Japanese version, which fits with the story narrative of Sigma trying to awaken Zero to his true self

And extra background stuff like Alia being smart enough to make a (not as good) copy of X's armor from X4 for him to use in X5, as well as repair his X5 armor to a point for X6, which is something seeing as they point out in X's ending in X5 that due to X and Zero being unanalyzeable it's very hard to repair them, so I would think it would be the same for X's armors.

There's also the fact that the games themselves never tell you the fact that Iris and Colonel were made a one robot, but split due to them not being compatible.

They don't have to pay themselves licensing fees. Also they aren't in as bad a financial position as Archie is presently.

Only reason Sonic's survived is because it's been a consistent bread winner. The fact they axed Boom despite not only selling well but being associated with a fairly successful cartoon really highlights the fact they're only gonna be doing things that are low cost and high reward.

Which again goes to prove this "hiatus" is just a cancellation with no official end date.

Now, like most kids, I had that one friend who would always lie about crap...I've actually had more than one of those...he'd steal stuff, too, the asshole.

Whatever, he fed me this bit that the Sonic comics had ended already, and got really bloody after issue 60 or so. Since I couldn't get them anymore, I took him at face value. So it's kinda hilarious in hindsight that there are genuinely gory Archie comics now.

His original model was really just Super Sonic painted black with red highlights. His origin story pre-dates Sonic's existence, making for cosmic convinces for the two to meet.
The plot of how anyone and everyone can get those two mixed up means that everyone is both colorblind and never seen another male hedgehog.
And most of the hate is how Shadow was saved from a noble sacrifice ending for nothing but to be around.

Compare Shadow to dark rivals like Venom, Vegeta, Bass, or even Wario, and he's comes off as just a produce of trying-too-hard-to-be-cool.

As Deon says, lore dictates he's modeled after Super Sonic. So if you can accept that Sonic doesn't take itself all that seriously, it works.
>The plot of how anyone and everyone can get those two mixed up means that everyone is both colorblind and never seen another male hedgehog.
Makes sense to me. I mean, an anthro hedgehog with super speed. If I were a normal human citizen, I'd think it was Sonic, he just either made himself black to look more villainous, or at the very least is associated with him. It'd make sense for the news media to look at Shadow and think "Is that Sonic?" "I really don't know, it could be." And it'd also make sense for the military to jump to conclusions, as I imagine they think Sonic is too dangerous to be running around anyway, and were honestly waiting for a reason to capture him.
>And most of the hate is how Shadow was saved from a noble sacrifice ending for nothing but to be around.
No it's not. How the hell can you hate the character just for coming back due to popularity? And it's not like they brought him back just to be there. He had his own game and story arc in 06. Doesn't matter what you think of those games, bringing him back to flesh out his backstory and be a significant player in the universe is a legit reason to do so. You must really hate Zero from the Mega Man games since he sacrifices himself and comes back like 10 times.
>and he's comes off as just a produce of trying-too-hard-to-be-cool.
Dragon Ball, no matter how you slice it, was pretty lighthearted before the Saiyans showed up. Brutal yes, but not really dark. So Vegeta is also a product of trying too hard to be cool. As for Bass, literally the only reason he exists was MMX gaining popularity over the classic series, so they thought the latter needed edge too. Bass serves almost no purpose to the plot other than providing edge. Despite this I have no problem with Vegeta or Bass's existences, and I enjoy them regardless. But I still don't see how Shadow is any different, other than a correlation between when he showed up and when Sonic games started getting really bad. And subsequently, when he went away and when Sonic games started getting good again. As if he's some kind of "symbol" in the community.

>As Deon says, lore dictates he's modeled after Super Sonic. So if you can accept that Sonic doesn't take itself all that seriously, it works.

That's a just a fan theory at best. Especially since the Hidden Palace doesn't seems doesn't and never existed as far as Adventure 1 in considered.

Then explain Eggman and Amy? They know Sonic personally and they still were fooled. And more to the point, G.U.N. know what Shadow looks like and should of know who Sonic is. So for this highly advanced, trained military group to not know the differences either is just bad writing.

1) Zero is a robot, so for him to dead and come back isn't so far fetched, especially since it's a staple of the Megaman games with the Robot Masters. Shadow's return came with clumsy sub-plot of amnesia and "is he the real Shadow?"
2)His game brought up way more questions than answers, and his arc in 06 could of easily worked for Sonic or anyone else really. They brought him back with no real idea what to do with him, making his return just for public demand feel hollow and forced to those that AREN"T rabid fans of his.

Vegeta was not much different from King Piccolo, only that now it was someone of Goku's race, a reflection of what Goku should of been like if Grampa Gohan didn't raise him to be good.

Bass was the overall produce of various rivals that existed mostly in Gameboy Megaman games. The Megaman Killers; Quint, Punk, Enke and Ballade. Or, another way to view it, Bass is what Protoman should of been if he wasn't the Racer X.

Shadow is different from those because he was never planned to stick around, never meant to be a major character. And as far as his role of evil rival to Sonic goes to shit because he does most nothing but stand around his arms crossed acting like he hates those around him. Vegeta never stopped being power-hungry self until after his death by Buu; and Bass never befriended anyone, so their dark counter-part status say true.

I know it's a comic for kids, but every time something like this pops up in the editorials I have a giggle.
>"I was super-stoked when Ian Flynn told me that Lupe would make her return!"
Implying that a situation like this happened:
>Ian: "LUPE IS COMING BACK! ISN'T THAT EXCITING?"
>Archie Staff: "YEAH!! LET'S GET TO WORK!"
When in reality:
>Ian: "Hey I plan to write X character into the book"
>Editor: "Oh, alright"

The thing is you treat "hiatus" as meaning that they're just sitting on production material for a while (even though that still costs them money) instead of halting everything until they actually make a decision on how to proceed. You act like they're "lying" without even considering that no choice may have been made yet.

If they were going to cancel it, they would said it was canceled, and not mix words. The Megaman comics may not be selling as greatly as they hoped, but the license itself is still too valuable to just give up just yet. Hiatus is just want it means

https://www.youtube.com/user/Rogerfromimp/videos
I got back to watching videos on this channel just today and figured I'd actually post my thoughts about it here since I don't comment on Youtube.

In particular I think their dissection of Shadow brings up some interesting points that actually make him a better fit for Sonic Boom than they or I expected. To me, the idea of Shadow as being very much a team player, and a polite one at that, opens up a large space of possibility, given that it contrasts with the general irresposible goofiness of the series.

First thing it brought to mind is that he could actually be looking to spend more time with the group but held back by his reputation and lack of humor. But it could also make sense for him to simply gove a bit of support every now and then. Maybe living out with Metal Sonic since they're both super serious Evil Sonics and the latter, I'm presuming, out of work?

Or he could show some respect for Orbot as someone who puts up with terrible a boss and isn't even trying to goof off as often as th others. That'd also give Orbot and Cuebot someone to ask for help without turning to Sonic Team, and help break up the new routine of fighting Eggman as just a routine without utterly derailing it.

And the factions from Shadow's own game could actually be kind of fun as one-off gags. GUN plays right into the sort of conspiracy theory vision of government Sticks is known for, and I could see the Lighting Bolt Society begging shadow to help them summon that alien starfish guy because they figure summoning ancient evil is just what cults do. Though alone I can see that failing to justify making and rigging new models, I don't think it'd be doomed to fall flat.
