The Kit one is captioned, Starline was right' on Pixiv so that's probably not what's going on there.
But call Hydroxian his "Dr. Surge…line," So may I was right about what was going on there.

Anyways the Kit one is a really neat idea for where his character would end up, since his Surge infatuation/fanboyism is lame and goes nowhere. Surge being possessed feels more like something she would fight against and then beat, she did hallucinate Starline earlier so that would have been a neat direction for that to go instead of it going nowhere.

I don't know them, but they are being overly picky here. Evan clearly just used the models to do the posing, and did change the proportions to get things looking more fluid. Their comic is pretty funny, even if it's more than a little exaggerated. IDW Sonic's quills are too puffy and rounded though, and it makes him look too much like a cute stuffed animal
They also think the Unleashed model is based on a a lazy subdivision of the low poly Heroes in-game model. Unleashed's model is fucking fantastic and I will not hear otherwise!

I think Sonic's always been most successful when it draws from both sides. The OVA is obviously an anime, but the land of the Sky is clearly a stand in for a post-apocalyptic yet utopian America, and the land of Darkness is explicitly a ruined New York city. SA2 is easily one of the best games and it takes place in fantasy San Fransisco.
What's really frustrating is that Sonic Team's always been interested in America and western themes in general, even moving to America multiple times! I really think it's just the SoJ execs that hate the baka gajin westerners

That's absolutely hilarious, Sonic Team were heavily involved with X, and Maekawa's Sonic lore team partner in crime Kiyoko Yoshimura wrote a bunch of episodes (along with 06 and Unleashed). If you ignore Chris Thorndyke's involvement, the SA2 adaption gives a bunch of background details that didn't make it into the game. It's still a pretty boring show though, and there's a lot of scenes where Sonic's nothing like his game counterpart

As for the OVA, even if you ignore the fact that it's the closest we'll ever get to seeing the classic games in animated form, Sonic Team's fingerprints are all over it. Tails' workshop in SA1, down to the way the Tornado launches with the plants moving out of the way are straight out of the OVA.

One of the worst parts of this fandom is just how factional it is. I get that some aspects of the franchise are kinda out there, but it's very easy to just stick to the parts you enjoy. It's been 8 years since Archie was canceled and 31 since SatAM, and yet we still have unhinged schizos screaming about the squirrel-chipmunk lady that lives rent free in their head

I've not watched it yet, but as the resident Richmunkologist who's seen him tear through so many Sonic communities first hand, definitely not. Him having a big revelation that he's misbehaved in the past but has worked on himself and is ready to enter a new Sonic community is just part of his grifter cycle. He enters a new community, acts abrasive, stirs up drama and scams whoever gives him a chance until he's kicked out, only to disappear for a while and enter a new community where he says whatever drama was taken out of context, but that he's worked on himself and is a changed man. He's been repeating this cycle since the 90s and I just don't see him changing a behavior pattern he's stuck to for over 30 years.

It's since been deleted, but I witnessed his meltdown on Sonic Retro firsthand. Dude was becoming increasingly unhinged and aggressive towards the other posters, even zooming into the screenshots of Sonic 4 and reading off the RGB values to prove his eyes were green. The admins stepped in, banned him and deleted all his posts so I unfortunately don't have any proof of this. The guy constantly rewrites his own past to make himself look more sympathetic, and I don't think it's just to sucker whatever new community he attaches himself onto. My guess is he actually believes these rewrites to escape his self-loathing and fuel his own persecution complex.

This behavior actually all ties back into his adult baby diaper lover (ABDL, but people should see the full words since the acronym minimizes the gross parts) fetish. It's very telling that he partakes in a fetish where you're supposed to get off on humiliation and genuinely enjoy throwing tantrums, but what really clinches it for me is that he wants people to unconditionally love him and cater to his every need.

This is the part where most people would accuse him of being a pedo, and I can see why given he used to walk around children's playgrounds wearing a highly sexualized Sally Acorn costume and would deliberately leave the curtains open in his apartment when he was wearing diapers in his giant baby crib. Kids did see him in diapers, and I think that's intentional, but one could argue it's because he gets off on humiliation. While he might not be a literal pedo, what he's doing is wrong. The number one rule in the kink community is that everything must be safe, sane and consensual. Consent isn't just for the direct participants, if you allow something to be seen by the public, you're involving them in something they did not consent to. First, TC is in his 30’s. second, I was on richmunk’s Kiwi Farms page and that has been dead for nearly a year and the last big controversy rich was his bitching about salicole in Sonic Villains a in late 2023/early 2024 but since then, he hasn’t been in any controversy (to my knowledge). But now I caught up in wanting to equal parts warn TC about him and leave it alone. And that video I linked, seeing the comments be so supportive of the man and saying that we should let man’s past go makes my naturally more sympathetic nature want the best for him. And I haven’t watched the video! And maybe never will! I want TC to be happy, but I worry that him associating with rich will bite him in the ass if rich fucks up big time again and I’ll feel guilty for not warning him enough. Gerald's clearly the greatest scientific mind in the setting (well maybe not IDW since they can't show humans, hew hew), but a running thread in the series is that all of GUNs robots/mechs and all of Eggman's Badniks/inventions/etc are at least based on Gerald's tech. In a sense, a lot of what Eggman's been trying to do has been to succeed where Gerald failed. Taking over the world and defeating GUN would make him a better strategist, and controlling ancient horrors (Chaos, Solaris, Dark Gaia, etc) would make him a better archeologist and scientist

I don't really see the problem with someone else continuing Gerald's genetics research though. It's been 50 years so it's probably a lot easier to do now. Also, I'm pretty sure Infinite was going to be genetically modified/lab grown at some point

That upgrade henchman idea does sound good, like a science version of when Kamek buffs a boss or enemy in the Mario Series except it's a sexy scientist gal jumping in to give her goons vaccinations to help in exterminations. They're genuinely in the business of saving lives, even if they do some shady things on the side

She wouldn't be outright evil and wanting to take over the world, but someone that will have her henchmen break into research facilities/ancient tombs/etc to steal things that would help with her research into her own version of the ultimate lifeform

The big difference here is that she doesn't want to create a new ultimate lifeform from scratch, but to become an ultimate lifeform so she can live forever. The twist (that wouldn't be revealed for a while) is that she's like Merlina and plans on forcing everyone to become immortal, even if they don't want that, especially if there are side effects

The artist's went increasingly more stylized and while it does look cool, it is moving away from what were already utterly fantastic designs. I do really like the Gaia markings on non-werehog Sonic though, they're super cute and a nice twist on werewolves not being noticeable when not transformed

Now there's an idea I'm totally stealing! That would definitely give a more personal stake and a really interesting contrast with Eggman. If Eggman wants to conquer the world, then she wants to conquer the very concept of death. Her goals are so aloof and abstract from Eggman's she genuinely doesn't understand why he'd bother conquering a planet just to succumb to old age

Now I'm thinking her attempt to cure her lover actually transferred his mind into the mutagen/virus/etc allowing them to leap between bodies but staying too long will kill the host. honestly you can have the idea since I'm not interested in making to many oc's, don't even do anything with some of the ones I made like Hood's Hoes or some of the kremlings I designed and Coral Snake of the Serpent Society is super neglected in favour of my other 3 made so can make her a hognose snake, a Tiger Salamander or whatever you think works best for this scientist trying to evolve beyond the grim reaper. I also think it'd be interesting if she doesn't hate Sonic or seethe/blame him for stuff like Nephtys or Surge and instead congratulates him on the capabilities of his raw genetic potential and more so understands that his inability to understand her motives have the boon of letting her refine her genetic projects if he can outmatch them significantly and is just an effect of his philosophy, he doesn't want to actively change the world and she realises that's cause the world changes itself due to his presence in her eyes. Shadow is such a guilty pleasure game for me and some of that is just the great cutscenes, soundtrack, the Black Arms and especially a lot of the levels.

Yeah, I really like the idea of villains that genuinely admire and get along with the heroes, gladly helping them out when not doing villain stuff. Someone that recognizes the world needs Sonic, even if he occasionally interferes with her plans. Xanatos from Gargoyles I've been watching it again is a lot like that and it's something the Sonic series doesn't have.
Having Sonic get possessed would be so cool, especially since her lover wouldn't necessarily be evil either, and would even try to fill in for him. Yeah, the lover being ambiguous is mostly from wanting to see what how far you can go telling a love story without giving away the sexualities of the characters, and to see how mundane love can look under very weird circumstances

One of the weakest parts of the games' stories is that everyone only ever interacts with or talks about Sonic or Eggman. I actually proposed my own version of the Bechdel test (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bechdel_test). For a game to pass it needs to have:
1) at least two characters that aren't Sonic or Eggman,
2) these two characters must talk to each other, and
3) they must discuss something other than Sonic or Eggman.

It seems like an easy test, but while the earlier games pass, Colors, Generations, Lost World, Forces and Frontiers don't. Interestingly, the Forces and Frontiers DLC and the new Shadow campaign in Sonadow Generations do pass so hopefully we'll finally get a new game that isn't exclusively centered on Sonic and Eggman.

As for Silver, I like to think he actually has someone back in the future and just hasn't mentioned it. It's probably as far as Sega will go, and we'd probably get some cute Sonic Channel art of them. Assuming they ever allow characters to express romantic attraction again We really need a game that explores Silver's new future ;_;

As fun as Silver and Shadow would be, they didn't really interact much in 06 aside from when they fought and then went 10 years into the past. By the end of that plot point, they seemed to be getting along well though. I can't see Sega ever allowing a main character to date a guy, but they'd definitely make a cute couple!

But when Ian didn't say Sega said no to romance, they rejected his ideas for Amy. Ian wanted Amy to either become more of an official thing with Sonic or to have the romance dropped altogether.
Sega said no to those two options, just take a look at those two options.
Sega probably just wants to keep the status quo with them, Amy likes pursuing Sonic and adventure, and Sonic likes being pursued.

It also helps that they've got some of the best platonic chemistry in comics, which is very easy to fujo up into romance (that and the way some of the older comics are written, you'd be forgiven for thinking they are a couple). One thing that Sonadow has over Superbats is a lack of romance options with women. Sonamy only works in Boom and fancomics, Elise and Merlina aren't that well known (and we all know how most people feel about human x Mobian relationships) and Shadow really only interacts with Rouge, who (IMO) works better as a friend. Superman and Batman's relationships with Lois Lane and Catwoman have almost a century of great stories. The chemistry of those two is so good they're actually my favorite relationships in DC.

Yeah, one of my main issues with IDW is that it completely ignores romance. I get that they aren't allowed to show explicit same-sex romance, but it's super weird that we haven't seen a hetero romance blossom between two of the OCs. 100% agree on Sonic being flirtatious, he's been pretty flirty in the games, so you'd think it'd carry over into IDW. We did get him flirt with Knuckles and Shadow, but the only woman he's flirted with was Blaze, and that was when he had amnesia. I guess he did sort of go on a date with her too

It's so frustrating! For such a central character to the most pivotal Sonic game, we never really get a good reading on his personality, with the game just treating him like a kaju. We do see a little of his personality showing up in Battle though.

Sonic destruction is an unfinished SnapCube video series created three years ago, the basis was they had one of those ai dungeon script things try to write a Sonic story.
It was pretty funny but nonsensical, multiple people where shadow, there was an alternate project shadow and a villain named Daedalus, it was pretty odd and I think the script was probably looked over by a fanfic writer as well.
Due to the general mood changing about ai, and the fact it hadn't been continued in three years, likely means the series will never be finished. Although I don't think an ai would be able to finish the story, but the Snapcube team just might as well write their own ending.
Also Elise flirts with Shadow since Sonic turned into a human.
