I finished Sonic Rivals. It was mediocre and boring. There is some things I like, the classic way of doing the levels and some of the visuals. But the gameplay is just so monotonous. The story sucks with characters fighting each other with the common thing being a dumb mystery. Turns out nega was behind everything having impersonated eggman. Now being retconned as being from the future for some reason. Silver is unfortunately back and is just as unlikeable as in 06. Overall, not that great of a game. I'll be doing Rivals 2 next.

Finished Sonic's story in Rivals 2. I'm a lot more postive going out this time than when I played Sonic's with Rivals. Dare I say, I had some fun with this. BUT, I have more to go and it may get more dour as with the first.

Silver/Espio duo is the worst pairing in the game barring Shadow/Metal. Which was nothing because Metal didn't talk and Eggman talked through him to give instructions. I don't feel much for it. There's just no real sauce between Silver and Espio.
Finished Sonic Rivals 2. It's an improvement from the first. The production value was way higher as levels are more varied and there's even voice acting this time around. The level design is better and more fun. Which makes the repeat playthroughs not as bad as the first. The game adds some modes in between levels. They're alright with the knockout ones being the least fun. Rings are now more useful as they fill up the special meter, but some powers are still better than others. Bosses are generally better, but they still take too long with the final one being the worst. Racing rivals is improved but I wish it wasn't the focal point. A real next step for the 2D games could've been made without it.
While I had good things to say on the gameplay, story not so much. Writing for the characters is not as bad as before, but there's still moments of senseless fighting. It's also literally the first games plot. Not only that, it's other previous games like SA2 with the Gerald notes shit. 06 with a time traveler coming back to stop a future ruined from a fire monster. And this game came out a year after it. It's so been there, done that. And now I'm going to talk about Silver. I've mentioned multiple times how unlikeable he is because he really is. His noble intentions don't shield him from being an agressively confrontational retarded prick in both games most of the time. And this is coming after 06 where he wasn't that great. And the problems with the character already arise with his gimmick. Coming back yet again to save the future is already old by this point. I can definitively say that Silver is just a bottom tier character. I'll be doing the storybook games next.
TLDR: Alright game, play and ignore dumb story. Silver a shit.

Essentially done doing the first world of Sand Oasis. Did not have a good time. The controls are clunky as fuck. Especially if you try going bakwards. Even with the crazy decision to hide Sonic controlling better behind upgrades, it's still not great. Rail grinding is finicky as hell. The homing attack sucks with it just killing all momentum. The level is not fun with said controls making it worse. Not to mention these shitty boring missions you need to complete to progress. Like don't break the jar, collect the rings, etc. It sucks and this is just the beginning of the game.

I will say that Fleetway had the same problem as IDW in that it had difficulty doing original stories, especially later when it just became repeats of stories with random civilians going evil for reasons.

Evan can write a compelling story. I've seen that with GotF. But I haven't seen that level of competency since.
Knuckles wants nothing more than to learn about his people and be reunited with them. And Julie-Su wants nothing more than to keep her mind focused and completing her objective. Something tells me neither are going to get what they expected.
