Because the last thread hit bump limit, let’s have a bonus thread looking at the post-Ghosts of the Future pages of Sonic the Continuation. Evan and Okida have been working together for years on each other’s comics so the crossover wasn’t entirely surprising. As you know, GotF is incomplete along with the crossover but StC has to keep going so let’s do a couple issues showing the end result of that crossover.
Question: What do you think happened in the crossover after Ghosts of the Future went on hiatus?
Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Note: Even though each Freedom Fighter has their own personal problems and anxieties, they’re able to focus during missions and not let it affect them too much. But when things calm down and they have time to think about it, that’s when those thoughts come back to haunt them. They’ll have to address those issues eventually.
Also, last thread had an update for Tails Gets Trolled and Team Dark Supernova Odyssey. Check the OP of the last thread for posts replying to it.
>>139723839 >Question 2 spooky 4U. Seriously though, I've got no idea >>139723908 What a handsome Sonic! >Robotnik literally lives off of seething. Remind me of someone, hew hew!
>>139723977 And of course this is the Sonic Adventure 2 arc. >>139723973 >Very sus that she looks like the dead gf of tails At least Cosmo is alive in this series. For now.
>>139723943 >And here's the new and improved waifufied Receptionik! Kinda reminds me of Stocking >>139723961 Damn it Okida, stop making Robotnik sexy! >>139723977 >Dohohoho! You know it!
>>139724032 If it isn't pixel-brain and knucklehead! >>139724020 >Can you imagine the types of things sonic can do with a vibrating hand I'm sure some people here can. >>139724029 IMAGINE
>>139724020 >Can you imagine the types of things sonic can do with a vibrating hand Pic related! >>139724032 Now kiss! >Okida is making everyone sexy! The madman!
>>139724080 Here's hoping this frame job doesn't last for years and show the worst side of everyone. >>139724068 >The madman! HE NEEDS TO BE STOPPED! >>139724072 He really is arguing with a schizo/himself. It's layers of crazy.
>>139724113 >>139724133 Okida made the whole imposter framed plot from sa2 100 times better. It’s fucking shit in sa2 and never made sense Also lol at Evans art low key mogging his art
>>139724133 You'd think Sonic would use this knowledge to talk down Shadow and avoid a fight but NOPE! >>139724108 Groovy. >>139724110 We already did this entire comic but since we did Ghosts of the Future that crossed over with this, I'm doing a bonus thread which shows the aftermath of that crossover.
>>139724158 Don't show too much concern for Tails, Sonic. Otherwise I might think you were another version of yourself. >>139724123 The status quo shift that wouldn't shift back.
>>139724209 Look at all these people! Who the hell are they? Whatever. >>139724173 >First the Birds Thought that was "fist the birds" and thinking that Tails developed a kink.
>>139724155 >It’s fucking shit in sa2 and never made sense GUN's just framing Sonic so word didn't get out that there's a living weapon running loose. It didn't work because the President sent Rouge to investigate >>139724235 >Thought that was "fist the birds" and thinking that Tails developed a kink. lmao seriously that stuff is so gross and weird >>139724282 Oh that Eggman!
>>139724337 There's one of Tails' many girlfriends! Don't tell Ian! >>139724307 He'll look like he's having an orgasm and make a pelvic thrust when firing the cannon.

Janny just 404d my thread, wtf. >>139724372 So we can have 15 Fiona & Cake threads at once, no problem, but TWO Sonic threads that have nothing to do with each other are too much? Really?
>>139724563 If you don't know, Robotnik took over all of Mobius after nuking Emerald Hill Zone. Thankfully most of the people got out in time. Sonic is still missing.
>>139723839 >As you know, GotF is incomplete along with the crossover but StC has to keep going so let’s do a couple issues showing the end result of that crossover. And I'll repost the Timeline for those who still don't know where is what.
>What do you think happened in the crossover after Ghosts of the Future went on hiatus? Bongnic said a lot of ruse stuff but still managed to help out.
>>139724775 Posting someone's theory. >The evil Nicole's color is green, but this one is purple. Just guessing other theory. >And don't forget the ROCC can change ones personality.
>>139724133 >>sonic: hey man, you better not try to kiss me like the other version of you did to the other version of me Wait, I don't think Evan ever got to that point.
>>139733112 You could maybe storytime it in this thread if you want, or as ive suggested, save it up until archie ride is over for a huge bulk of comics Also surpised SaTFF being in the OP didnt get much of a reaction. Tho idk if its a good idea to keep it there for long but thats up to you really
>>139732593 I love that they include Omega and other robots. The art's also fantastic, and it's one of the rare cases where an abandoned comic actually came back >>139732962 >An OVA quote and it's not the meme one! Nice! >>139733112 Better to have too many comics than too few! >>139733203 I think there wasn't much of a reaction to your comic since the thread was already at 400+ posts. For now, I'd storytime here, and then maybe have overflow threads for the fanstuff after the main thread fills up >>139733280 >>139733332 Yeah, it's nice to see things more active, but I do prefer the comfiness of our fancomic threads
>>139733371 >overflow threads for the fanstuff after the main thread fills up I have no problem doing those after the Archie one archives. Only thing I'm worried about is nobody realizing a new one is up and that thread gets archived and unnoticed. During some times of the day that can definitely happen.
>>139733414 Yeah, it's pretty frustrating that the only way is to be constantly babysitting the current thread into the night. >>139733527 Not the Konductor, but they seem to be filling up pretty quickly,
>>139733527 I could but that thread is getting archived fast. If all Archie threads archive within a few hours then maybe keeping a side fancomic thread might be helpful. The question is whether it's alongside Archie or pops up when Archie archives.
>>139734598 That DALL-E 3 thread could probably churn out some good Sonic stuff now including crossover art. You can get pics of all the twinks in black spandex.
>>139735619 It'll probably start slowing down now that the introductory Archie Ride thread has concluded. At least it's in the archive to read but yeah. Forgot how breezy and comedic the start of the Archie comic was.
>>139735692 Wasn't there a legit reason why the comic pivoted direction/tone as hard as it did? Like something to do with the comic being told it was going to be cancelled or something and then it just kinda kept going and became its own thing completely unassociated with SatAM/AoStH.
>>139735807 They thought they were getting canceled at 50 so they decided to go darker. Of course that didn't happen so they just kept the tone since everyone seemed to enjoy it >The big two oh. They even wrote 20 on the hats so you know they're really pulling out all the stops!
>>139735941 context like that would be really nice to go over in regards to the ride. I only sort of get that penders's shit was related to his family and it's just injected into the book, along with the writing over between karl and ken, but aside from that i don't really have any production context for when i went through archie alone, besides the 50 thing you mentioned but that was only vague
>>139732510 Some lore on Shadow's eye >>139736128 >>139736221 I made a few lore comments in the thread and intend on continuing! >>139736618 Yeah, the comic would've been way different if they thought they didn't have a deadline.
>>139735807 >>139735941 Also, Penders actually started to pay attention to SatAM at that point and thought it would be a good ting to stick closer to the tone of that cartoon.
>>139738117 Promises, promises! >>139738673 Penders gets a lot of hate (and he should!), but he was one of the few people in comics that was willing to interact with his fans online, albeit mostly through his own forum. Part of the pivot away from the AoStH-style humor to the SatAM drama was that SatAM's cancellation meant there was a large fanbase that could treat the comic as a direct continuation. SatAM fans were very active on the then-new Internet at the time, having transitioned from newsgroups to making their own sites. If they'd mostly been AoStH fans, I think the comic would've taken a very different direction
>>139738798 >but he was one of the few people in comics that was willing to interact with his fans online Funny thing is, he had that in common with Ian.
Would it be too speculative to think part of the reason Penders did it was because he liked the attention and came to see Ian as stealing his thing?
>>139738870 Penders is definitely mega salty about Ian, to the point where Ian actually has him blocked on twitter. Yeah, hosting a forum was a massive ego trip for Penders, and Ian also hosting one certainly made his blood boil.
Penders 'main issue with Ian is that he's the perfect scapegoat. When Penders resigned from Archie (because the editor wanted him to include Shadow in his MXYL continuation), what was supposed to happen was for the editor to get on his knees and beg him to come back. What ended up happening was they just hired Ian to write that story instead.
Just think, this kid who used to post on your forums and write into the letters pages used his superior knowledge of your stories to secure a writing position at Archie and eventually become head writer. Even worse, the fans like his stories more, and love that he's tying up all the loose ends you never bothered to.
>>139739002 I follow a guy on twitter who posts stuff from the podcast ian is on and it's funny how even though apparently you need to pay money to ask questions people will still ask him the dumbest shit on the planet and then get mad about his answers.
Like, sorry ian doesn't have the answers to great moral quandaries about is it ethical to kill villains, how about asking him the 100th variant of "how would amy feel if sonic was gay/asexual/dating someone else" instead?
>>139739764 I mean it's the kind of questions that people who die laughing at official Sonic twitter memes would ask. Ian's just being nice at this point.
>>139738798 >Comic had a looming cancellation >SatAM was cancelled, so they decided to make the comic a continuation of that series in tone to make the fans happy >cancellation fell through, the SatAM style drama stuck and then shit got ~weird~ What a rollercoaster
>tfw just had a dream that of anons cosmic horror sonic being jailed behindbars for some reason and struggling to break them despite being a god Bruh I spend too much in these threads but I did wake up laughing
JESUS FUCK, 4CHAN IS 20 YEARS OLD! Internet was supposed to be that new stuff, uncharted territories, discussing about stufff only young people care about because no ther media would...
Now it's just there, talking about 32 year old franchise. Was our demise inevitable?
>>139739193 He's got the classic eyebrows! >>139739306 It's kind of bizarre just how often they'll ask the same questions >>139739356 He should be forced to answer increasingly lewd questions. I demand to know just where they put those chaos emeralds when they reach behind their backs, and just how many each character can squeeze in! >>139739807 It was the perfect storm of circumstances that created Archie Sonic as we know it. And to think, if Penders hadn't been friends with the then editor, or hadn't lied about his son being a huge fan of the games (they don't own a genesis in Sonic Live, and use a TV remote instead), we'd never have got Remington! >>139740029 Stay out of my lewd dreams with Shoggothnic! >>139740172 Same. These threads are the highlight of my day! >>139740288 So festive!
>>139663111 Same goes to you. It's alright, no need to worry, but the concern's nonetheless highly appreciated. : > Feist-looking nibba. Makes me a little flattered I had an influence on you of all folks, bro. You should really just go ahead and draw some Feist (along Remington too), if only that I'm curious if you do draw or just only in occasion.
>>139662956 Biased and stubbornish as this will sound, I think it's still fine and well. Nothing like some applied fairly amount of fanservice to endear some more the art, straight or gay anyway. Provided the artist knows what's he doing, I will still enjoy art of a man for as off will be the model.
There's few more Rotor arts of him maintaining him on his own still iconography, so it's not all lost. Worthy to note he has got a huge preference for Tracy Yardley's Rotor and he's making all efforts possible to influence himself off it.
>>139742451 That's good to hear! That was the first thing I've drawn in years, but I really should do it more often. I'll have to do some Feist and Remington next! Yeah, I've gotta say I've been enjoying the more bara Mobians lately. There's a laid-back approachability to them I just love
>>139742897 We’re not going to push our luck. New Unofficial thread when the old one archives. Archie threads at 7pm EST. Today at 5pm EST I’ll post the new Sonic Legacy here.
Honestly I wish we got the same amount of traffic in the threads on the other site but that’s never the case. And since posts with links to it get deleted it’s even harder to do so. Imagine discussing Sonic with the same anons here but over there and not having to deal with the shit here.
>>139743304 Honestly, I'm sort of glad we don't since our semi-consistent schizos have no idea about those threads. Sure, it hurts that we don't have the same amount of posters and that we're stuck with psycho staff, but we also don't need to deal with retarded posters bringing down the thread quality either.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/53875180/ Well, how about that? The not at all explicit RPG Maker game, Chronicle of Acorn, by the notorious Sallyhot, has just got a new episode released (episode 1 and 2 are included), if you are interested.
Though to get to play it, you have to subscribe to their discord channel and scroll down to coa_download in the Team Acorn menu and only then do you get a link to their google drive.
It's all free, but if it's too much of an hassle, I can give you the link directly if you ask (though I don't know if it work if you link it directly here)
Hmmm... wonder if it would be worth it for me to make a collage of the game's screencapture to make a coherent comic story out of it, be it with this game or the Sonic SatAM RPG one...
>>139744567 >It's a what-if story about post SatAM season 2. Sally's on the run and it would seem as though Robotnik hasn't died, and has beaten the Freedom Fighters. It's an RPG with at least 10 hours of playable content. :)
I'm good. You can post this in the ride in a few hours if you want.
>>139744567 >Though to get to play it, you have to subscribe to their discord channel I ended up not trying it because of that, a direct link would be nice. The SatAM RPG was pretty fun though I've only played the first chapter.
>>139744750 >You can post this in the ride in a few hours if you want. Just to be clear, I have done nothing and I think it would take quite some time to mount it in some sort of comic form. >>139744781 Don't know if it will work, but here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZtMHOmgKxU0mYP7uZ1ykJx7RqcsC_1fz/view (I haven't downloaded it yet myself, so I hope it's not some Tempest porn) Still put a nice word to the creator if you end up enjoying their work.
>>139745607 I am as surprised. It's still in alpha, though, but at least it's playable. I might wait for the actual v1.0 to come out to play it, as it seems like it might actually come out in the foreseeable future.
>>139723839 Sonic Legacy Issue 12 https://twitter.com/sonic_legacy A new issue of Sonic Legacy just dropped! After going super for the first time and knocking the Death Egg out of the sky, Sonic finds himself on a mysterious floating island. But he’s not by himself! The mysterious Clove will be his companion for now. Let’s see what wacky adventures they get themselves into next!
>>139747751 Because this was inevitable. >>139747747 >It's the font from S3&K's level names! It's called plaza for those interested Tell them I hate them!
>>139747713 He's going through waku waku withdrawals >>139747773 >Tell them I hate them! It's supposed to be used for signs, not entire paragraphs! >>139747809 I can't believe they're both dead ;_;
>>139747948 It's crazy to think the only one who had something to help a NIDS patient was Kobintor on Moebius and his solution was was put someone in battle armor.
>>139747938 Yeah, it's a nice little character study >>139747966 I'd forgotten about that >>139747990 I do like the messy quills >>139748021 They've done a great job at integrating the lore
>>139748045 Clove gets a ship to leave and Sonic gets to fight Eggman again! Everybody wins! >>139748021 Better than that one GUN soldier's solution. Bullets.
>>139748096 Is this is our first look at Knuckles in this series? I know we saw his fist or whatever in the last issue. Anyway, that's it! Archie thread at 7pm EST!
So the four Archie issues I did yesterday led to the thread lasting four hours before archiving. I think I can do another four issues or maybe more or less. I think if we get the same turnout, the thread won't last the day either way.
>>139752964 Unless the No Zone allowed duplicates I doubt it, however that'd be an interesting concept. I mean, the No Zone inhabitants go around capturing people from other zones, why not recruiting agents?
That said though the whole concept of Zone Cops is a self-determination nightmare. I can guarantee you that nobody actually gave them the go ahead to act as the judge and jury of the entire multiverse.
>>139753168 Muah, muah, big dude. Don't think you will ever leave my mind, broski.
>>139751380 Yes. And he was the main vector, his future self, for building then sending Nicole back to present. It's a sheer coincidence.
>>139751203 I don't think it was really intended, but the pattern is there, yeah. Notice also that often, Rotor takes seriously the royalty hierarchy the most for Sally of the bunch.
The fandom has just ride along with Rotor being gay, but when you think about it, Rotor has a starting chemistry of sorts with all three of the girls, so you can just go ahead and pick your ship safely off the trio and go off and beyond with their established base!
>>139753325 It's a shame nothing was really done with rotor being gay, and anything GOOD for that matter too. I heard penders was really going to have eggman black mail rotor for being gay to the FFs. like wtf! like why
>>139753576 In one of the Ride's storytimes, there was a bunch of Lovecraftian references, so a resident drawfag started drawing Sonic as a Shoggoth. I assume what happened was Sonic got eaten by a Shoggoth but took it over due to some nonsense with Chaos Energy or something.
>>139753625 I still can't get over that Sonic Heroes 2 fan comic. Team Sonic? Freed a horror. Team Dark? Dead by a horror. The Chatoix? Kills 2 Horrors AND get free food.
>>139753745 It's just that all the stories stopped and Team Dark stopped when they were captured and about to be eaten. If the series was completed there's a good chance that everyone would defeat their horrors and get out alive. Even Omega who blew himself up was repairable.
>>139753576 >>139753625 I'm here! I'm still working on making a coherent story, but here's the basic gist of it.
>We were storytiming a bunch of threads with Eldritch horrors >I was listening to the SatAM theme on repeat for whatever reason >I eventually come up with a dumb change of lyrics like a grade schooler, draw Shoggothnic as a result >Anons like him so I keep drawing him doing all sorts of silly things
For the story I have planned for an eventual form of fanwork (I hope I have enough energy for a comic but chances are I won't be able to work on it for quite a while, TL;DR no promises), it goes as follows >Regular Sonic witnesses The Horrors Beyond breaking into his reality. Looking at the crack in space acts as a cognitohazard so he turns into a shoggoth. >Eventually learns how to assume a hedgehog form >Makes friends with the normal characters >Hijinks ensue since he's so silly goofy
It's a wee bit different from how other anons expect him to be but that's alright! He was practically built for OOC/crack, him getting a coherent story was the afterthought.
>>139753921 Cool story! I like that he was originally a hedgehog that got turned into a shoggoth, and that he eventually learns to approximate his old hedgehog form. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it, no pressure though! >>139754240 lmao >>139754523 Yeah, he does a great job of keeping the energy up, even if the puns are a little much
>>139753625 >>139753921 There were also jokes made about the fact that since Shoggothnic is into Amy, that must mean it was him becoming an eldritch horror that made it possible for him to express his feelings to her.
Well, that and Amy being a certified monsterfucker.
Made some more progress on lettering that comic. Look how cute Sonic is! >>139755077 >Well, that and Amy being a certified monsterfucker. Which is now immortalized as one of the banners on the website!
IIRC it was because I posted that pic of him and Amy sharing ice cream after a string of comics where Sonic and Amy didn’t exactly have the healthiest relationships. Cue the jokes that the only Sonic who’d respect Amy and drink that Respect Women Juice would be an incomprehensible Eldritch abomination.
>>139755085 My goodness, that hedgehog’s got fat tits! Yum!
>>139755490 Good luck with it! Yeah ABT's known for doing really cute Sallys, so it's nice to point out when he does a cute Sonic. >>139755531 He's delightfully bashful!
>>139751674 >>139751698 I remember the first time reading this, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't made such a big deal of Sonic becoming Super Sonic for the first time.
I was hoping there would be a grand arc leading to this moment, with his super form being some kind of grand reveal and a tide changer.
Instead it's introduced as if it was already something normal for Sonic to have, but also only used for some villain of the week...
>>139757139 You know, I never noticed Knuckles' back spines. Turns out he had two in a previous issue and none at the start. He's been getting buffer and spikier! >>139758006 Horrifying
>>139758125 The origins of the Sonic comic are more AoStH then SatAM. Much more silly/lighthearted and *way* more meta. I've personally never read through it fully and I'm pleasantly surprised how fun it is.
>>139758019 >>139758046 According to Sage, it is in fact a perfect recreation of Big based off of Sonic's memories in Cyberspace. Keep in mind that Cyberspace can create such perfect recreations of people that for all intents and purposes, they ARE the original individual - its how the pilots of the four Titans can show up despite being long dead by the events of the game.
The new big lore is fucking dumb and unneeded. It was funnier that the real big was just chilling there. Why did they have to do that shit. I hate the new lore in general
>>139758404 Chaos first few forms are recontextualized as having been Chaos assuming the shapes of four out of the five original tribes of Ancients, who were exterminated when The End initially attacked and annihilated their world. The fifth surviving tribe built the Titans in honor of the other four, to represent them in battle as they faced their hated enemy. For Chaos, it's basically a sort of genetic memory thing.
>>139758389 >>139758412 Yeah, that actually made me mad. It's fucking dumb and adding lore for the sake of adding lore but it's retarded. It was literally just tied to emerald count he had. I geounely hate frontiers a lot bros.
>>139758412 You can't really blame Ian because it was likely something Sonic Team came up with first. Ian mainly takes what they give him and writes the stuff and dialog around it. There's no way Iizuka would let a gaijin come up with something like that.
>>139758451 Nobody but you and your fellow retard cares. It's fucking harmless and more than that, doesn't impact any lore in any other continuity since, and here's the kicker, the Ancients don't fucking exist outside of Modern. So you can still have Chaos simply powering up via emeralds in Sonic X or Archie or wherever.
More than that, it only implies that his first THREE forms are based on Ancients. Perfect Chaos is just a natural powerup.
>>139758458 Also fucking this. It's an SoJ thing, not Ian specifically. If anything, Ian probably put more thought into it than they ever did when he adapted the English script to fit it in.
>>139758474 But it literally doesnt make sense. Those forms happened because of the chaos emeralds powers. So what, does that mean the other ancients ate some emeralds too? Its just dumb man.
>>139758474 except it's the reverse as has been stated multiple times. also, this is a bit ironic since we're doing the ride, but it's very in-character for ian to do this having read his preboot archie run. that it wouldn't be wouldn't make sense.
>>139758484 Essentially. One tribe is described as being essentially buff Chaos, another as being serpentine, and another being crablike, and another had wings.
>>139758495 >except it's the reverse as has been stated multiple times. No, you fucking retard. SoJ gives Ian broad stuff he uses to develop the script and Ian has some leeway in how he can insert them - but he DOES NOT come up with those things himself nor can he outright go and place them in without tacit permission for all but the most obscure references which they don't care about.
>>139758504 He was a cyber-construct based off of Sonic's memories, effectively indistinguishable from the real thing.
>why is everyone arguing and complaining about the sonic game in a thread about sonic fancomics >oh right, i posted the big comic and commented on the theories around him being in the game
>>139758490 The emeralds were literally just letting him assume the forms of his ancestors, that's it. You are not only overthinking this, but you are way missing the mark.
>>139758318 And to think he was regular sized at the start! >>139758320 I do like the idea that there was an entire race of Perfect Chaos' on the Ancients planet. They probably cornered the smashed windows, butt rock, and drowning people market! >>139758535 Damn it Eggman, you monster!
Apprently, they actually gave a lore explnation on the recent forced use of amys cards in the update. In the game, she literally has more cards moves than amy. Fucking LOL. Sonic Team and their overcorrecting is cancer.
>>139758581 >>139758590 I guess it's just because of brand synergy. She uses tarot cards basically everywhere as her Classic self recently so now modern Amy never doesn't have a pack of tarot cards in her pocket.
Proof in case you think i'm bullshitting. >>139758625 Feels more like they are taking one aspect of her that was barely relevant and making it her entire character cuz she got nothing else desu.
>>139758527 >he DOES NOT come up with those things He literally admited in this fucking bumblecast he linked the ancients to Chaos and the Chao Unironically go fuck yourself retard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=21&v=I1Rd4iGxFKQ&feature=youtu.be > Ian Flynn proposed that the Ancients were ancestors to the Chao, as he felt there were already too many "random aliens" on the Sonic series, and this got approved
The Ian defence squad are so fucking insufferable.
>>139758716 >Well I expected the robots to be of the metal kind and not the hypno slave variant At this point, SatAM hadn't even aired yet so they just had some rough notes to go by. That's why Sally goes through so many designs. Once it starts airing they finally get what roboticization was supposed to be. Of course, they go with their own explanation (it converts everything into mechanical equivalents) as apposed to Hurst's way more horrifying vision it's just the skin, bone and muscles that are replaced, so they actually had to eat
>>139758783 They would've been cancelled after issue 50 seemingly. Comic couldn't last on small multi-part basically episodic stories along with one page shorts. That's why they went the SatAM direction and made it more serial and drama-focused.
>>139758581 >Apprently, they actually gave a lore explnation on the recent forced use of amys cards in the update There is nothing forced about the cards, though.
>>139758968 As of late, when they werent really relevant? Yes it has. Literally more card based abilities than any with her hammer in it in the recent update and outright repleace some things like her hammer spins to slow down descent.
>>139758642 >Feels more like they are taking one aspect of her that was barely relevant and making it her entire character cuz she got nothing else desu. Not really. It's just somethign that was always there they are playing more on. It's no more done so than her Piko hammer and in the end, add to her register.
I really don't understand why anyone would be bothered by that. It's almost like they want her to be nothing than the love-crazed fangirl for Sonic that she was in X.
>>139758997 >and outright repleace some things like her hammer spins to slow down descent. Sheet of paper to slow down a fall make more sense than a hammer, aerodynamically speaking.
Making it part of her move isn't anymore forced than Sonic eating chilli Dog in Dark Knight.
>>139759051 >It is forced. You keeping saying that won't make it any more true. It has alway been an aspect of her character. >They are making it her entire being Seeing she still use her hammer, it objectively isn't the case. And she is still a friend of Sonic with deep care for others.
>>139759087 >It has alway been an aspect of her character. Where was it in the games then? Why didn't she use them in SA1 Sonic06? Why were they relegated to a spin off no one fucking played? (chronicles) If these fucking cards were so important why did it take them 20 years to use them in a mainline game?
>>139759119 >Why didn't she use them in SA1 Sonic06? Good question. It's nice that they are finally making it more prevalent. They could have done it earlier.
>>139759119 >If these fucking cards were so important No one is saying that it's super-duper important, though, just that it's entirely valid to make it part of her gameplay.
>>139759135 thing is it's one thing to make it appear more and another for it to be flanderized into being her most common trait. barely any moves use the hammer apparently, and that's a probllem when it has a far reaching image in regards to her. that's where the complaints are coming from, not the mere existence of them, but this compensating shit they're doing cause they never touched it since 1993 for the most part
>>139759173 >and another for it to be flanderized into being her most common trait. It's not really the case. It part of her move-set, that's it. And the hammer is still in use. The complains make no sense.
>>139759235 I directly quoted you. And she still has her hammer movesets. It's just expanded on them. Also you saying "apparently" make me think you didn't even play the game, so this make your complains have even less solid grounds.
>>139759261 last (You) because i ain't talking to a wall, that's not what i meant, nerd, and the complaints hardly come from just me. people playing have commented as such.
>>139759319 >>139758642 How is is a proof of anything. Knuckles being able to break walls no one else could is something that has been a thing since Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Can Amy's hammer break those walls in Origins plus? How is it different, there?

>>139759561 It's so unfair, I want to see the boys cry too >>139759568 I'd have liked to see them take her on as a trainee hero and show her the ropes. It would've been a great way to introduce the world since Tangle could've been the POV character. >>139759224 I think, if you only barely keep up with the franchise, this isn’t that big a deal, it’s just something Amy does.
However, if you keep up with the franchise decently enough, there’s a very clear uptick in this one element being everywhere Amy is when previously there was little indication of it. It’s not a BAD element, it kinda fits her magical girl aesthetic, but it’s so out of left field when up until recently that was just a fun fact in a manual from CD. It feels like a duct tape fix to the core issue of SEGA not actually bothering to give her more defining character traits.
>>139760070 >but it’s so out of left field That's the part I disagree with. And seeing people complain about it end up looking like being against trying anything that would be different.
Sonic eating Chili Dog in game didn't really happen up until Unleashed and Black Night, almost 20 year after the first game. The only difference is that it had kept being a thing in other media, but I only see Amy's stuff as a "better late than never" deal. >not actually bothering to give her more defining character traits. They are trying to move away from the Sonic-fangirl crazed stuff, but otherwise, I see her current chracterisation as the same caring and nurturing one seen in SA1&2, 06 and unleashed.
>>139760070 this is the primary issue, they've switched from the hammer being the main thing to the cards being the main thing and the hammer is almost an afterthought, but some autistic fuckwits take that and translate it to 'the hammer is fucking gone' and then attack the strawman without realizing no, it's not that the hammer is gone, it's that it's less prevalent for some reason than the fuckin cards despite it mattering to her character for longer. Nobody is really against the cards showing up, but now they've become her 'main thing' over absolutely everything else, and they're not even that good at making it her main thing because they can't even do basic research into how tarot shit even works anyway, let alone her being mystical (especially since the westerners have no fuckin soul and they're pushing this shit the hardest) so that's why there's this backlash.
you're right about non-fans to an extent. many are just questioning why the fuck it matters so much now when they didn't care before
>>139760170 >but some autistic fuckwits take that and translate it to 'the hammer is fucking gone' and then attack the strawman without realizing no, it's not that the hammer is gone, it's that it's less prevalent But is it actually the case, though? One anon complained about that while saying that it was how it was "apparently" indicating he went on that rant without even playing the DLC.
Look, the matter is simple: is the hammer still causing the most damage? If yes, then I don't think there is cause for complain and it's just some people who think it would be fun to meme hating the card until it becomes the consensus.
I mean, it's the hammer she ride, he "vehicle" mode. Card circling around her is an added effect and yet it's that thing some are using to illustrate their complain. that's where I call BS.
>>139760267 >is the hammer still causing the most damage? i.e. does an arbitrary number change the point of the argument holy fuck powerlevels this shouldn't even be surprising yet here we are
>>139760292 >i.e. does an arbitrary number change the point of the argument I mean, yes. This mean the hammer is her main weapon and the cards are added to it instead of taking over it.
Don't accuse me about power-levl when the one complaining are the one saying the cards have become more important than the hammer.

>>139760267 Amy’s main form of attack is the cards, the hammer is an afterthought. Even her basic attacking move is launching cards in front of her.
>>139760170 That’s another thing that irks me as well. I mean, if the goal is to make her come across as someone who’s aping divinination stuff without knowing how it works and seeing patterns where there aren’t any, that’d be kinda cool. But if the intention isn’t to make her use of cards be silly/dumb, then it begs the question as to why just now are we (re)introducing magic into the series. Is it building up to something with the series as a whole? Or is it just some obscure trivia they pulled out to try and make Amy more interesting?
>>139760427 Seeing that it's just the cards I don't get the feeling it's building up to anything at all and is literally just meant to whack you over the head.
Because according to our local defender because the hammer 'hits better' than the 5-6 card moves or whatever the fuck how many there are, that means the hammer somehow isn't an afterthought because of some arbitrary in-game numbers. Yeah, just because they want to market the cards more by giving them more slots for unique moves doesn't fucking matter to their relevancy, the hammer's the best fucking move, so it doesn't matter that it shows up less often.
it's this kind of shit that gave us the meta era by the way
>>139760016 The new artist's got a really nice style! >>139760367 Not sure, but DA's not updating their RSS feeds. >>139760427 >Amy’s main form of attack is the cards, the hammer is an afterthought. Except her main attacks are made by the hammer, with the cards mostly serving for movement and defense, so, no the Hammer is clearly not an afterthought.
it's clear it's just a minority of people who are meming hard on hating the cards when there is no real reason to.
All of her big attacks use the hammer, calling it an after-thought make no sense. More realistically, the game dev got inspired and went creative with the card, but it's not accurate to claim the hammer took a seat behind in term of its usefulness.
all I am seeing is that Amy used to be Hammer, now she is Hammer AND card. That's in no way what flanderization is.
>>139760463 >that means the hammer somehow isn't an afterthought because of some arbitrary in-game numbers. Seeing it's her most powerful weapon and is used in game to make all the most important damage and finisher? It definitely isn't.
>the hammer's the best fucking move, so it doesn't matter that it shows up less often. As a matter of fact, yes. Especially when most of the skills are about displacement rather than attack.
>>139760463 >that means the hammer somehow isn't an afterthought because of some arbitrary in-game numbers. I am starting to think you don't know what an "afterthought" is.
>>139760578 >As a matter of fact, yes it does show up less often >ah yes it is less relevant because i said the cards are apparently more important, but its okay because big number go smashy thanks for proving my point (You) are a circle
>>139760612 >>ah yes it is less relevant because i said the cards are apparently more important This is not what I said at all, anon. come back when you will be able to read better.
I am wholeheartedly in the camp that Amy's new card deal would've been better recieved if they had actually leaned into the tarot theming beyond just "oh yeah she uses cards because... idk she used them that one time back in the day". I get it's a much more "character defining" trait than food, but it reminds me of how Tails can't go one minute now without mentioning he guzzles mints. If they actually elaborate on her cartomancy then it might be interesting, if not I don't see how it's dissimilar to the other gimmicks we've seen.
TL;DR: SEGA hire me, I'll make Amy a cute magician instead!
>>139758682 >literally says he still needed approval from SoJ Nothing there contradicts a word I said. Kill yourself - you're just as fucking obnoxious as IDWkun, Boco, and every other terminally online Sonic thread schizo.
>>139759005 >It's almost like they want her to be nothing than the love-crazed fangirl for Sonic that she was in X. That's exactly what he wants. The Frontiers schizo has mentioned before that he hates the entire notion of Amy having a distinct identity beyond "SONIC SONIC SONIC SONIC SONIC SONIC". In fact, it's one of the most common schizo complaints in the general and is the first sign of a crossboarder from there.
>>139761918 I personally don't consider the cards thing any different from how Sonic didn't start obsessing over chilidogs in the Modern continuity until Unelashed and Black Knight. It was a thing only in the animated media and comics up until lthat point, but people act like that was always his personality in the games.
>>139761918 i mean there's that but there's also the fact that basic counting nets you 7 moves where she uses cards and 3 with the hammer. it feels like compensation especially because they couldn't come up with anything else that even remotely fit the theming.
>>139762086 Yeah that's a fair assessment. Like I mentioned, I think the best course of action is to wait and see, because it IS something that could be so much more than just Amy's Gimmick, but as of right now that's what it is.
Maybe in the future she'll get lots more cool shit to do, and she'll actually know how to do tarot/cards/magic/whatever, and all the naysayers will be proven gay in an unsexy way. Or maybe they'll do literally nothing with it beyond vague "Amy believes in the heart of the cards!" and people will be vindicated for being upset by it.
>>139762223 Amy has been doing magic since Batgle, the game which gave her the power to go invisible at will and create multiple fully functional clones to beat people up. Oh, and on-the-spot healing magic.
Amy being a sorceress is not a new thing. It's just not used much because SoJ is retarded.
>>139762334 see i don't think people could be complaining as much if there was an equal ratio of all this magical shit. but i bet you soj doesn't even remember half of it. hammer's still her main thing though why is it relegated to 3 fucking moves
>>139762398 >why is it relegated to 3 fucking moves Already said before, but most of the moveset are for displacement and defence. when it comes to attacks, the Piko hammer is the dominant and more powerful weapon.
And the gamedevs also simply had fun imagining movesets with the cards, as they are a very versatile thing to toy with.
>>139762506 Gigi decided to make the first part of the newest chapter a video. I don't know if there will ever be comic pages or if it was just a one off thing.
>>139762290 >>139762334 Not gonna lie, I feel those two examples are just yet another point towards SEGA being for whatever reason vague and creatively sterile when it comes to Amy.
They're really cool abilities, like- How the hell does she do that? How did she learn to go invisible? Was she born with that ability? What about the clone thing? Even the card thing now, how did she learn about the magic of the cards? When did she learn to harness their power?
There's so much stuff here that *could* work, that *could* be interesting, but it's just there to fill up Amy's skillset because SEGA didn't know what else to fill it with/didn't care about using her Piko Piko Hammer to its fullest potential.
So Frontiers has Eggman say he doesn't believe in magic and just calls it science. And my mind immediately went to this. Archie haters gonna blow a fuse lol
