The OG Enerjak took on the Ancient Walkers and Aurora and was so completely indestructible, they needed to tear him apart and scatter hi macross the Chaos Force just to be rid of him - and his remnant essence even then is still powerful enough that draining one avatar of that power and a later much stronger (possible) avatar made Mammoth Mogul into an unstoppable God on two occasions. The only thing limiting Enerjak avatars is the imagination of the avatar in question.

It seems to not be completely off the table but I'm not convinced. TMoStH had Sage but that was a gag game. Still promising that Sage was included. However the IDW comics are screwed where it's at. Not sure when it's allowed to jump ahead to post-Frontiers but IDW might not even have enough time to bother. Penders is such a curious case. The stuff he cares about the most are the worst things from him and yet there are things that he's done that are unironically good and benefit the comic, especially for Ian when he later comes on. It really sucks that Penders had an ego and was able to work by himself. Working with either Mike has shown his ideas are good if he's got someone else to help. If Penders stuck around and mentored Ian the two would've produced some crazy stuff.

Enerjak for starters. He also helps develop Antoine as it will be shown later on. Elias is a good character. There's a lot of worldbuilding and push for more serious stories. Doing multiverse stuff when he first came in. The early Knuckles ongoing is pretty good. Julie-Su is a great character. And he left Ian a lot of stuff to work with. Penders is still not a good writer and he done so much damage to the Sonic comic franchise but I can't deny that his work helped pave the way for what Archie became, good and bad.

Julie-Su starts off as a reluctant ally and she doesn't even get with Knuckles until later on and that's after she goes on a date with another guy and realizes she only has feelings for Knuckles. Sure the fated lover thing is cheesy but that's about it. And she sticks with the Chaotix for a bit and they still get used in a lot of stories. Her backstory isn't that complicated. She's a soldier from a banished echidna faction that falls Knuckles because he treats her like a person and not a soldier or enemy.

My main problem with Julie-Su is that she's just kinda...there. She has all this backstory and is apparently Knuckles' destined love interest, but she's got the personality of cardboard. Even the IDW OCs like Tangle and Jewel have more personality than Julie-Su did.

It'd be mostly standalone stories but there can be that growing sense of continuity as characters return and slightly change. But that's definitely fitting like a glove, Tundra becoming a headmaster boss for his mental-absorbed herd, whom he swears to protect at any cost, yet it's a compromise to make otherwise with Eggman's overwhelming legion. Come think of it, this could be more impactful, as come to the resolve outcome, liberating his herd, Tundra would have still a pain in the ass situation with his people questioning his acts over controlling them all, and it would logically make it double for him to dump all his anger over Rotor.

It centers for a good excuse, both on fleshing out Tundra, himself and his gradually healing relation with Rote.
