>>139845140 So what's the deal? Consolidating all Sonic comics we'll be covering in a series of threads. When one thread is about to die, we jump to a new one.
>>139845152 As it says in the OP, Archie will be posted in these threads at 7pm EST. I'll link the start of each time in the OP for those that join later. >>139845147 Who are you? Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?
>>139845140 Ride or die! >Question It's not overbearing and it does fit the message of the early games. Also I'm a huge captain planet fan mostly due to Wheeler >Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Note Cool!
>Question Fits with the original stories of the games of Sonic pushing back industrialization from his island home. Though there *is* the very first version of the Sonic story where he was a story book character told to children in a village based on a bomber jacket character worn by the women's husband. That shit's wild.
>>139845166 I wonder if these horrible creatures ever show up after this story. >>139845162 >It's not overbearing and it does fit the message of the early games. Also I'm a huge captain planet fan mostly due to Wheeler It does feel very Saturday morning cartoonish, which is part of what Sonic was about in the 90s.
>>139845140 >What do you think of the environmental emphasis the early comics had? It was cute, but ultimately it was only natural every series in the franchise moved past it. It had the tact and nuance of a Captain Planet episode.
>>139845174 Very pleasant people. >>139845169 >Though there *is* the very first version of the Sonic story where he was a story book character told to children in a village based on a bomber jacket character worn by the women's husband. That shit's wild. Sonic's various origins and early years keep getting deeper and deeper.
>>139845169 Sonic's origins are consistently inconsistent >>139845174 >I wonder if these horrible creatures ever show up after this story. They do at Sonic's trial >It does feel very Saturday morning cartoonish, which is part of what Sonic was about in the 90s. Yeah, I did like that about it
>>139845198 >let us out of here >but don't talk to us I'd just leave them there and talk shit to them. >>139845176 I do wonder if the series would've evolved in some other way if it didn't go serious and still tried to stay lighthearted and simple.
>>139845176 Wheeler and Doctor Blight were so hot in that show >>139845198 Some surprisingly clean sewers >>139845201 Early and late have no meaning now. We live forever in the omnipresence of the Ride!
>>139845209 >the drill goes through the force field and destroys the ferbs >>139845188 >They do at Sonic's trial Of course. >>139845201 No, you're right on time!
>>139845217 You know, I think this would make for a good boss fight. >>139845211 >Some surprisingly clean sewers Still smells like ass and not in the good way.
>>139845237 Sonic outrunning running would also be cool sequence in a game, especially if the water would crush and drown him leading to an instant death.
>>139845247 Ori and the Blind Forest has a great chase sequence where you have to outrun water >>139845257 Fun fact: This is the first crossover for Sonic. Archie was making TMNT comics at the time and in the TMNT comic you see silhouettes of Sonic and the Freedom Fighters when they're going through the sewers >>139845265 >That's cheating because he's still Sonic, especially when his clothes come off. Honestly, with the right artist those Nerbs would be pretty cute
>>139845307 The Archie-SatAM dimensional merge is complete! >>139845285 >Ori and the Blind Forest has a great chase sequence where you have to outrun water Sonic is made for chase sequences. With good controls and no glitches of course.
>>139845320 These buzzbombers! >>139845296 >He'll always be one in my heart! I am surprised how much better he is in the earliest issues compared to his SatAM counterpart. >>139845308 We're resuming later at 7pm EST but this is just to reestablish things.
>>139845320 ENTER SNIVELY! >Sonic is made for chase sequences. With good controls and no glitches of course. He really is! >>139845336 >I am surprised how much better he is in the earliest issues compared to his SatAM counterpart. Yeah, he's practically a different character
>>139845345 >I know mobians are strong and durable for their size but Antoine is lifting hundreds of pounds of fat with ease. Imagine the possibilities!
>>139845140 >Question: What do you think of the environmental emphasis the early comics had? I like it, I feel Sonic inherently has environmental themes and messages in it's DNA so may as well keep it showcased in funways
>>139845257 shame no full on crossover between Sonic and TMNT, Sonic could hit on April, we could see the TMNT as Sonic styled anthro's and Eggman could pilot Krang's robot body.
>>139845336 I like how Antoine is a lot more self-reflective in Archie, it does a lot to help him as a character and add depth to his bluster/attempts to make himself come off as more then he is
On the topic of Sally and Nicole, I've finished lettering another few pages. Pic related took almost an hour. I had to add in extra dialog for Sally since she's clearly saying something in this version, rearrange speech bubbles to not obscure Sally's face and butt, and worst of all, I had to read the puns ;_;
>>139847563 so was King Dedede, though I'm mildly curious what Sonic was up to while everything was going on? that'd make for a fun fanfic or if this game came out now a dlc side story.
>>139845320 >>139845336 You know what I really love about Archie Robotnik/Eggman? Especially the early years, he’s such a good combo of game and satam selves.
>>139845140 Holy shit, how long was it since the last ride? Dunno if I can stick around for the whole thing but looking forward to going through this rollercoaster again.
>>139848780 The last Archie ride wrapped up two years ago and we've been storytiming fancomics ever since. We're archiving every thread on the website in the OP so anons that miss threads have a convenient way to catch up
>>139848863 Yeah I followed for Archie and then Fleetway after that, and for some of the fancomics afterwards but couldn't really keep up with the threads so dropped it. I'm glad to actually be on time in this instance, as the ride two years ago (which was also my first time reading Archie) I did join in a little bit into it so I had some catching up to do before I could react live as stuff was posted. But now I get to see all the new people getting exposed to Archie Sonic's shenanigans instead of being one of them myself, which should be a fun new perspective.
>>139848905 Welcome back then! Yeah, it's great reading along to see if the anons will react differently this time around. We're actually doing the digital recolors this time so we might get some reactions from the changes they made
>>139851102 Well of course it's not, we already did that issue a while ago. The #1 is the start of a new series of threads for Archie and occasionally fancomics.
https://www.deviantart.com/joopitor Sonic Renegade is a new fancomic that someone just started. Only a cover and one page right now but it seems to be a Sonic and Blaze comic and the artist is an obvious Sonaze shipper.
>>139845140 >went out to some comic stores to find Archie comics >found exactly 1 >nothing else I guess since the series has been over, especially for some time, a majority of them have already been scooped up huh? There's another 2-3 in my area i'll check out at a later date so I have some hopes still.
>>139845140 >>139845140 Can't we just stick to having the thread focused on Archie Sonic, finish, then have it go back to the fan comic story time? Merging everything together makes it feel sloppy
>>139854886 So he traced one of my favorite scenes in the original comic to make that awful SatAM dvd cover. I can't say I'm surprised >>139855116 Gmod's a portal to some sort of hell dimension and I won't be convinced otherwise >>139855499 The art for issue 113 was infamously bad, so Adam Brice Thomas redrew it all. It's just the pencils though so I've been adding the dialog back in so we can storytime it later
>>139855750 The original issue was published in 2003, ABT did the redraw in 2013, and I've been working on the lettering on and off for a few weeks now
>>139852403 There's nothing "autistic"(seriously, we need to kill this fucking buzzword) about making a legitimate critique.
>>139856093 >>139856161 This is why TMoStH is one of the best things to come out of this franchise. Benching Poochie is something that should happen more often.
>>139856216 And it still ended being about sonic tho. But it’s sad that some ass hats even defend that shit. Like I get he’s the main character, but it makes his world seem super small when everything is about him. He’s my favorite but I just can’t stand the effect he has on others characters much to their detriment.
>>139856280 it's funny in retrospect >everyone memes that the noncharacter "Barry" cares about Tails when all he does is fanboy about Sonic and "What would Sonic do? Sonic is such a hero!" >Tails never actually solves anything. Sonic gets up and tells everyone Espio was the one and that it was the train being alive and that Sonic figured it out from the beginning, noone else figured this out at any point >Game is from Barry's pov yet Sonic is still somehow the only playable character through the nonsensical "thought process" game which is just Barry daydreaming about Sonic >Sonic then defeats the train while everyone else cheers for him Oh well at least Amy got the final hit in, that's more than she did in Frontiers.
>>139845273 It's times like this I really wish I were an artist, so I could draw Rotor in this attire for all the ever in my life. He's beyond cute there.
>>139851251 That's just design cue for characterizing him as lazy/bumfuck, a lil' sluggish. It's integral to him, yet he lost it anyhow, roughly around 160# and forward.
>>139856359 I think the obsession with sonic being the coolest is the worst part of this franchise. Sonic is cool, but it always has to come at the cost at other characters and they do it to such a cancer degree. Final horizon is literally them being just talking about him and barely each other. Bit of a sad sign that this shit might never go away
>>139856410 Don't even bother. He can and will ignore anything that contradicts his idea that Sonic is the only one getting focused on. Just wait for the Conductor to start.
>>139856589 The OVA was actually the first two episodes of a tv show that never eventuated >>139856614 It really was the best part of Flynn's run on Archie
>>139845140 Archie Sonic the Hedgehog #11-13 Today marks the introduction of someone worse than Robotnik. Yes, this issue is the first one with… Ken Penders! But he’s not the only troublemaker making his first appearance! Sonic jumps to a new world and meets a very familiar face… one he’s seen every time he looks in the mirror! And stars align when we get the first appearance of a certain red character and guess who’s a writer for that?
Question: What would the Archie comics be like if Penders never joined? Love him or hate hm, he contributed a lot to the series. A lot of those contributions are him copying from somewhere else and adding them to Archie.
Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Note: I’m warming up to the idea of alien races being based off of animals. Some already do but not all.
>>139856631 Amy having a moveset doesn't change the actual fact that the entire story about Frontiers was just the friends dicksucking Sonic's tiny cock while ignoring eachother and ultimately contributing nothing themselves. They're just Sonic's errand-boys fetching his emeralds while he fights all the bosses and gets a new superform and saves the day by himself. but o what a privelidge, Amy gets to use her amazing powers to go fetch the rocks for master sonikku while he beats all the bosses himself. huzzah, what beautiful use of the extended cast. Sonicfags are the worst characterfags by far and people like you are exemplary of why.
>>139856672 >Yes, this issue is the first one with… Ken Penders AIEEEEEEEE >Question Still Alive for one. > Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Note Ayy Lmao
>>139856672 >Question: What would the Archie comics be like if Penders never joined? Love him or hate hm, he contributed a lot to the series. A lot of those contributions are him copying from somewhere else and adding them to Archie. Honestly? Impossible to say. Penders' contributions, whilst insane, are a big part of the reason why Archie Mobius is the way it is - take those out and there's no telling how things would have changed.
>Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Note: I’m warming up to the idea of alien races being based off of animals. Some already do but not all. Now I'm wondering how you'll do the Black Arms.
>>139856672 >What would the Archie comics be like if Penders never joined? The same, except it ends earlier because there's not a moron to lean on to fill pages.
>>139856694 >Sonic Signal Watch is a thing >can apparently reach Sonic all the way across the other side of Mobius This could have been useful later on. Or even in other continuities.
>>139856672 >Question Almost unrecognizable. My guess is it'd be 100% Karl Bollers' ideas instead >Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Note Do the one from Sonic X that's just Mobian Kimba the White Lion!
>>139856737 Different world, still tubby. That'll change in the future. >>139856713 Pottery. >>139856714 >Still Alive for one. Maybe. Apparently Archie was thinking of getting out of the license business but Penders probably made it more lucrative to do so.
>>139856762 ENTER SC--.. I mean... ANTI-SONIC! >>139856715 >Now I'm wondering how you'll do the Black Arms. I've got some drastic plans for them. >>139856730 ROBOTNIK NOOOOO
>>139856756 >>139856767 It's just a thing he does. It's like a lot of the other random concepts or characters introduced early on that he just conveniently has always known about or who were always there.
Make note onto this "Mike Kanterdvich" fella. You will soon perceive his eventual drop-out will fully tank hard the comic's general quality control, which leaves for implying Mike likely was doing all the work behind, or rather strengthening out Penders' snobbish amateur copyleft of usual Silver Age legacy stuff.
>>139856799 This Sonic seems to be a lot smarter. >>139856771 Moebius and the characters go through a lot of changes. Ian changes and solidifies a lot of it.
>>139856872 What intelligence? He can't even explain a concept as simple as "evil Sonic". And neither could Ken! Fuck! Fire him now QUICK BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE
>>139856840 This isn't really brought up again, but Anti-Sonic actually does have a lot of general knowledge or awareness of the zones compared to his Mobian counterpart. The tradeoff seems to be even lower emotional maturity though. Oh, and being evil.
>>139856862 >It really is so fucking sad that Scourge was literally just an evil Sonic wearing a leather jacket at first Yeah Now a GREEN evil Sonic wearing a leather jacket, now that’s real shit
>>139856799 >This guy is a lot less naked than our Sonic. I'm so upset he's not wearing leather pants >>139856806 Damn, I never thought of that but you're absolutely right
>>139856672 >Question: What would the Archie comics be like if Penders never joined? Love him or hate hm, he contributed a lot to the series. A lot of those contributions are him copying from somewhere else and adding them to Archie. There would be a lot less Echidnas and a lot less lawsuits
>>139856840 Writing tip: If your non-scientist characters have to wheel out a whiteboard to explain the plot, then your script still needs work! >>139856865 love how they can't get anti-Tails to look menacing >>139856912 Oh my, showing off the grippers in his first appearance? What a slut! >>139856923 Surge is completely different, she doesn't have an 'o' in her name!
>>139856999 lmao >>139857019 >Already speedrun this maze no scope platinum trophy and sent you a problematic message on Xbox 360 about your mom. Oh no, the Konductor's having a stroke! >>139857039 >Editor's a Sonally shipper Nice
>>139857082 >hungry hero Oh boy, I sure hope those chili-dogs aren't from the Zeti! >>139857104 Boo, put my fetishes in the comic instead! >>139857130 lmao
>>139857130 It was probably a live recording. Though him being dead would still apply unless Robotnik decided not to turn on the conveyor to gloat for some reason.
>>139857104 >Ivo Again, it's really damn weird that the comic uses his game canon name at first before suddenly changing it to Julian. What the hell.
>>139857155 >Moebius was surprisingly under-defined despite the popularity of Scourge. If anything, Scourge's popularity is likely what caused Moebius to be underdeveloped. People wanted to see evil green Sonic, and weren't all that interested in the other people on his home dimension.
>>139857240 That’s what I believe. Like when Ian said he had zero plans to do anything with the suppression squad and only plans for much more Scourge/Fiona. That’s not an insult, he was just planning for his audience at the time. They wanted more Scourge and more Fiona, not the others.
>>139857280 BEFORE THE FINAL SPIN COULD BE DASHED I TORE OPEN A PORTAL INTO THE PAST NOW THE FOOL WISHES TO RETURN TO THE PRESENT AND UNDO THE PRESENT THAT IS ROBOTNIK Or something like that.
>>139857339 Anti-Mina: Cringes at Scourge/Sonic Is a slut for girls Is pro-AI Sings awfully but Ovi Kintobor still supports her hobby Thinks Anti-Mina is hot and wants her to do backup synth for her
>>139857405 We can't show you the raping that Robotnik will be getting from this attack. >>139857382 Carnivores in stories like this are always fucked.
>>139857432 Now for the prehistoric Freedom Fighters! Tails and Sally are wearing more here than they are in the present. Except Sally isn't wearing any boots.
>>139857379 >>139857405 Y'know, another fun thing about the Gallagher era is that we mostly don't have to take anything too seriously. Fuckin' imagine if this shitpost-y nonsense was important later.
>>139857493 I like how some of these stories are like "write us to tell us you want more of these characters." Not sure if we'll see more of these guys.
>>139857493 >Wow, Sonic! Planting hedges on the surface is so much better than the endless orgies we've been wasting our time with underground! You've shown us a better way of life!
>>139857645 Considering the recurring... gag(?) the latter comics had where every bird character had some connection to the Armada, I wonder if this guy and his flock are also former members.
>>139857379 >FEET! Oh my! >>139857583 >What killed the mobian dinosaurs? THE ICE AGE! t. Mr Freeze. Seriously though the whole Mobian dinosaurs to modern Mobians only took a few thousand years. The Ancient Walkers were amoung of the first ones though
>>139857132 The lesson is explicitly to not eat 60 chilidogs, so I can only assume you're coming out in favor of a 60 chilidog minimum as healthy eating.
>>139857755 Honestly Penders injects a bit of lore and complexity to this otherwise aimless comic. The problem is that it eventually goes bad and nobody stops him from descending further into madness.
>>139857758 It's one of those comics where everyone is a dick but not Sonic! True blue and friend to you! >>139857747 >THE ICE AGE! ICEE what you mean! >>139857755 He's not writing on his own so his power is limited.
>>139857801 And in typical fashion the Freedom Fighters are captured in record time. >>139857795 >On top of that, they're even more cowardly than Antoine! Because outside has dinosaurs and some fat guy running around.
>>139857758 The fuck? This is honestly one of the really fun parts of finally reading the early stuff, seeing which characters appeared when. Fucking Larry.
>>139857540 It's probably another Zone. It can't be canon to Prime Mobius since there's an Overlander/human present, alongside actual Mobians at the same time when Mobian Dinosaurs were abundant.
>>139857835 Who needs a black cat when you have Larry? He's like a thousand of them, a hundred undersides of a ladder, and covered in broken mirror shards.
>>139857669 >that costume >that phallic vehicle Anything you wanna tell us Robotnik? >>139857703 >What if Robotnik just randomly died in one of these stories? Not something epic or cathartic. It's just in a random story. But then who would we kill off in #50?>>139857758 >ENTER LARRY LYNX Don't mind if I do!
>>139857755 Penders is genuinely a better writer than any of Sega's actual employees, he's just an entitled autistic egomaniac and not nearly as good as he thinks he is.
>>139857868 american comic books need that one superhero to always be the named protagonist who does fuckin everything. also something other characters weren't well known or publicly established yet, tails wasn't very well used in the multiplayer and the shows didn't reflect that, so the comics didn't either by proxy
>>139857795 >God, that's so wonderfully convoluted. That's Archie for you! >>139857801 >ICEE what you mean! You fiend! >>139857835 >And in typical fashion the Freedom Fighters are captured in record time. Couldn't even last 3 panels without Sonic
>>139857841 >>139857888 After the Xorda gene bomb, the planet went from dino-Mobians to modern-Mobians in a few thousand years. Weirdly enough this story does fit the canon if you ignore the date they give
>>139857988 No. Ken's just a nerd and constantly rips off other people's stories while jerking off his childhood heroes. He got Ramona Fadron to draw a pinup for the comic for...some reason.
>>139857867 I mean, you are comparing a failed writer vs people that are not real writers and instead are overworked programmers, even if it's true, the fact that we are comparing the two is just grim.
>>139857859 Larry arguably has one of the most broken powers on all of Mobius. They probably could have ended the war early if they mailed him over to Robotnik at this point.
>>139857867 >Penders is genuinely a better writer than any of Sega's actual employees PFFFFFFFFFFT. No, anon - you're only saying that because Kanterovich is still here to keep him on a leash.
>>139857888 Yes, but the Xorda's gene-bombs reduced all life on the planet not in secure underground bunkers to a genetic slurry. Mobians emerged from it first then Overlanders sometime later.
Like the other anon said, you could theoretically fit that story into the canon given Mobian Dinosaurs eventually gave way to modern Mobians in a couple thousand years, but the timelines don't add up.
>>139858142 I think it was the Sonic & Knuckles special but I remember Sonic talking about meeting Knuckles before and that cut throat motion Knuckles is doing was what stuck out to me in that flashback.
>>139858142 >Shouldn't be a surprise the Master Emerald is in this story. Was it mentioned in Sonic 3 or was that with Sonic & Knuckles? It's not, Knuckles was originally guardian of Angel Island's set of Chaos Emeralds until they changed things in S&K. In fact, we don't see the Master Emerald until much later (and it's made by fusing some Chaos Emeralds together)
>>139858290 ... Conductor, I think you might be posting a fan comic or something, because Knuckles actually rubbed a pair of brain cells together here.
>>139858347 >makes a wooden statue of antoine while insulting him Why? >>139858344 Knuckles isn't an idiot but he is gullible in getting tricked by Robotnik. Archie Knuckles in general isn't a retard like he is in other things.
>>139858176 It is! It's also the only time Sonic uses it in Archie >>139858186 I'm glad others obsess over the timeline too >>139858247 lmao >>139858252 Classic Echidna planning! >>139858290 >Crazy how much they changed things from these games. Oh man, wait until we get to the Sonic Adventure adaption. They can't even have Chaos in the ME because there's already a Mammoth in it!
>>139858387 >accidentally ruins the statue and yet still insults antoine Why? >>139858360 Don't worry, they get plenty of reasons to get mad at each other.
>>139858473 yeah but american tails had to be swerved into that position hard because the american side was hard wired into just making him the baby kid brother character. they didn't give a shit about the manual continuity
>>139858492 Freedom Fighters just jacked Robotnik's ride! >>139858430 >Oh man, wait until we get to the Sonic Adventure adaption. They can't even have Chaos in the ME because there's already a Mammoth in it! Sega did Archie and Fleetway dirty with all of that.
>>139858186 >PFFFFFFFFFFT. No, anon - you're only saying that because Kanterovich is still here to keep him on a leash. Many great writers need a leash. And, in this case, mediocre writers. Still head and shoulders over the brain geniuses behind Shadow the Hedgehog.
>>139858508 They could have at least seen from the gameplay that he’s meant to be fast and to fight That’s just an unexplainable fuckup how they somehow interpreted that as “baby who can’t do anything”
>>139858344 Fleetway Knuckles is smarter, but Archie Knuckles is pretty clever too (outside of getting tricked by Robotnik) >>139858441 And that's why he's best boy >>139858476 lmao >>139858509 >false vacuum collapse Fucking terrifying
>>139858607 Of course Robotnik has a ship that can grow legs and feet. >>139858601 >Which is it, Robotnik? He likes robots with personalities because he gets lonely and likes at least one of them to give him sass and shit. But they still have to do what he says.
>>139858521 >Sega did Archie and Fleetway dirty with all of that. They didn't even give them a translation of the plot, Spaz had to import the game from Japan! >>139858551 >Eggman will have a lot more target practice with the Eclipse Cannon. More like Eclipse Shotgun amirite?
>>139858680 from what i know of that show wasn't he still pretty much a damsel? they certainly didn't treat him like he was on level with sonic like in the game
>>139858344 Archie Knuckles is easily one of his smartest versions, with only Fleetway Knuckles actually being more intelligent given he never once falls for Robotnik's bullshit.
>>139858704 Only in the first 2 episodes. After that he zips around like Sonic and fights the robots like Sonic, they’re tagteam fighters like in the game
>>139858716 And that is it for today! Tomorrow at 7pm EST we'll do more Archie issues! New thread later. We can't be cluttering up the board, now can we?
>>139858637 Horrifying >>139858673 Definitely >>139858690 You'll see a lot of corrections like this as the writers learn more about the characters. That's why Boomer changed his name to Rotor
Damn! Just when things are going well for our heroes! Antoine’s not missing his chance! And what a peculiar exchange between Sonic and Sally. Oh well! Goodbye, Little Planet!
>>139858347 >>139858760 Reminder archie Tails never ever built a plane or any vehicle of his own, Nicole and Rotor and Nate did Archie Sonic > Archie Tails in smarts
>>139858658 On the bright side Fleetway Tails gets to become the hero of his own adventures to the point he grows up to be even to Sonic, hell i'd even call him better because he's kind hearted enough to see the good side in people and offer redemption (see Metamorphia) which I honestly can't see Bongnic do Archie Tails on the other hand...
>>139858739 Thanks Konductor! >>139858768 It's the end of the world so they're all gonna do what they do best:flirt and kiss! >>139858815 Hey, don't forget all the Adventure Time threads! >>139858837 >The idea that Tails is guzzling drink off-panel is hilarious to me. He's actually been smart, but drunk the entire time. Once he sobers up, you'll see him at his regular genius level >>139858853 ;_; I love this setting so much
>>139858868 Fleetway Tails went from being an absolute retard to being a cheeky hero with a reputation of being a hero. Archie Tails went from being a cheeky kid to being a genius that never does anything of note on his own (we will not talk about DESTINY) and kept in Sonic's shadow by Ian. He really is the Gohan of Archie.
>>139858876 >It's the end of the world so they're all gonna do what they do best:flirt and kiss! Damn horny mobians! >>139858923 ;) >>139858924 I'd like to wait until issue 4 is done.
>>139858900 Do The Vulture! Or PSYN >>139858917 lmao >>139858933 It has 100 moons (except when it doesn't) >>139859009 Yeah, that's a good way to explain it. Of course at this point Mobius wasn't originally a future Earth
>>139858660 It's kind of strange seeing how nice early Robotnik is to Snively, only to eventually get so cruel it motivates the latter to have him killed. Then there's Eggman...
On the Master Emerald lore: >The Master Emerald's origin began six hundred years ago when Mobius had many green Chaos Emeralds. Twelve were harvested by the scientists Jordann and Kayla-La to lift Angel Island into the sky and avoid the Great White Comet. Two hundred years later, brothers Edmund and Dimitri proposed a plan to return Angel Island to the surface by draining the power from the emeralds with their Chaos Syphon. Their plan was rejected but Dimitri used the device anyway. >He consumed the power of eleven of the Chaos Emeralds, becoming the third Enerjak. >He was defeated, and only the one emerald kept Angel Island aloft.
>>139859186 cont. >Four hundred years later, Guardian Knuckles obtained another Chaos Emerald. Soon after, Mammoth Mogul drew Enerjak back and then used the Sword of Acorns to drain his energy and add it to the power of his own Emerald. Now Master Mogul, he battled Super Sonic, Hyper Knuckles and Turbo Tails, among many others. Master Mogul, desperate for an edge, attempted to take the last two Emeralds on Angel Island, but Guardians Sabre and Locke used their own control over the Chaos energies to invert the power flow. The surprise result was one massive emerald with Mogul's life-essence trapped inside. This was the beginning of the Master Emerald.
>>139859212 cont. >Later, Dr. Eggman shattered the Master Emerald to create shards to feed Chaos, which set Mogul free. Knuckles retrieved the pieces of the Master Emerald and, with the aid of the Brotherhood, reconstructed the gem. The Master Emerald has powers beyond those of the Chaos Emeralds. It can potentially grant someone a super-state by itself, and its power can neutralize the other Emeralds. While anyone can tap into its power at will, only a few can use its full potential. The best way is to use "Tikal's Prayer" >>139859208 Man, that'd be interesting! None of it fits in with established Archie canon, so they'd have to get really creative
>>139859235 >Man, that'd be interesting! None of it fits in with established Archie canon, so they'd have to get really creative And you also have to take into account that Mogel was supposed to have created Chaos. Unless you rewrite everything where him and even the Echidnas were actually trying to copy the Ancients (Ken would fume).
>>139858868 >>139858959 >>139858991 They're nothing compared to Tails Wachowski ramming probably the strongest non-Archie Knuckles with a car and having a backpack that shoots lasers. Oh, and an actual no-bullshit gun.
>>139859287 Yeah, it'd require massive retcons to work. If Penders actually ever played a Sonic game, you know he'd be fuming at Frontiers' story. And not just because it's written by Flynn!
>>139859208 >>139859235 Especially regarding Sage. She's transparently a reworking of Phage, but Phage was made first and for the reboot universe at that, so would Sage even exist at all?
WHAT ARE MOBIANS? >Mobius is Earth tens of thousands of years after the Xorda ended most life on the planet. Therefore, technically speaking, "Mobian" refers to all sentient beings that arose afterwards. However, "Mobian" has come to refer specifically to the anthropomorphic sentient beings. Many resemble species from old Earth (e.g. dogs, foxes] while others share the name but look much different than their ancestors (e.g. hedgehogs, echidnas). Mobians average three feet tall, but they can range from tiny (fire-ants: six inches) to enormous (lions: seven feet). Most races tend to pair up with their own kind, although interracial pairings happen regularly as well. The latter pairings usually result in twins: one male with his father's traits and one female with her mother's traits. On very rare occasions a single hybrid child will be born. These children look more like one species than the other, but will often have a striking trait of the other parent.
>oh btw there were some aliens that existed once and used the emeralds. Didn't make them or have anything to do with their origin, just used em before you did and now they're here >and here's a new ai girl and also a random enemy that has nothing to do with anything either Seems pretty easy. For a "lore" plot Frontiers was very noncommital
>>139859370 cont. >Mobian culture is incredibly dense and is nearly indecipherable. Males typically wear very little, but will often wear more if they're of a position of power. Females typically dress more than males and more ornately when in an authoritative position. Mobians typically group together by their race or in small, multiracial villages. Large gatherings of multiple kinds of Mobians, such as New Mobotropolis, are a rarity. This is not out of any animosity, but the habit of Mobians to not gather in large numbers. Mobians also tend to be innately merciful and generous. Many conflicts between them and their genetic cousins, the Overlanders, feature Mobian forgiveness bordering on naivety. Overlanders are technicall Mobians themselves. If Sonic is a "Mobian hedgehog," then an Overlander is a "Mobian human."
>>139859399 cont. >They're typically more athletically built than humans and tend to have more colorful hair. They also tend to only have four fingers like many Mobians, but five fingers are common among both races. Like Mobians, Overlanders can range vastly in size (e.g. Snively Robotnik vs. Ivo Robotnik), but not as commonly. The general term for the world's fauna is "Mobini." These can be recognized as the non-sentient animals of Mobius, although many show striking insight sometimes. Sonic's dog, Muttski, is an example. The porcine Pickies, songbird-like Flickies and game fowl Cluckies are also examples. Many other species of fish and insect Mobinis exist, although some seem to blur the line between Mobinis and Mobians. It is this unfortunate lack of clarity that has led to some Overlander bias against the Mobians in general.
>>139859339 >Dark Legion gets mogged by the Nocturnus Clan in technological advancement. >Then it's revealed all their shit is a more inferior bootleg of what the Ancients created. Ken would go postal.
>>139859344 Sage would just be the result of Eggman making his own Nicole in response to the Freedom Fighters.
I think the games are low key gonna to with the multiple sets of emeralds from Archie but with multiple master emeralds to explain why one was there randomly
>>139859374 Well, you'd need to factor in that the Ancients and The End are directly responsible for the emeralds being on Mobius to begin with - and that they're the literal reason why Chaos and chao's exist, and why they have such a strong natural connection to chaos energy. It would very much overturn the idea of echidnas being the all important precursor civ even just using the bare minimum of the lore there.
You could even have it so the Ancients are inadvertently the reason why millions of emeralds were all over the goddamn universe despite having an entire zone full of them elsewhere.
>>139859213 While I don't care either way, Sonic and Amy have never been romantically involved in any official media where as Sally and Sonic are always paired up when available. The idea of Sonamy seems to hinge on the notion that hedgehogs should only be with other hedgehogs.
There's a timeline out there where non of the Penders shit had happened. But, instead down the line Frontiers still happened as we know it now and Ken shoots up a place. Dark.
Even tho I hate the ancients, I think it would be kinda cool if they made it that using their found tech, some echidnas would use it to advance and be the founding of the nocturnus clans they should really introduce those guys again
>>139859474 >You could even have it so the Ancients are inadvertently the reason why millions of emeralds were all over the goddamn universe despite having an entire zone full of them elsewhere. Shit, that actually could work.
>>139859479 I haven't looked too deep into IDW personally. But from what I have seen it's insane to see how bad things have gotten. Although i'm sure they'll pull through for quite some time still.
>>139859594 It kinda does. But I think they should do something with them or something like else cuz they can’t just say knuckles wants to learn more and not do shit with that
>>139859478 >Sonic and Amy have never been romantically involved in any official media Amy's earliest appearance had her with Sonic, well before Sally came about with her relationship with Sonic getting focus. In fact, said initial appearance was meant to ultimately inform everything else with her, since a bunch of stuff both then and later on was meant to show that Sonic liked Amy back but was literally too shy to own up to it.
It's also our earliest version of smug sassy Tails.
>>139859641 Sorry to be that guy but, proofs? I have heard similar things but hard evidence is appreciated. >>139859666 >It really hinges on them turning a profit. >the extra Sonic specials are telling me they're trying. True that Satan.
>>139859698 >Sonaze >when Blaze, in both Rush games, barely communicates with Sonic I feel like you people always forget that for most of the first Rush, it's Blaze interacting with Cream and for the second, it's the Tails & Marine show right up until the post-game. Does this mean that Blaze actually wanted to fuck Cream all along?
Sonaze suffers the worst of any ship because the two characters being paired have the LEAST amount of interaction in their actual games - as in, Blaze suffers the worst from the whole "doesn't interact with anybody else' complaint if you limit her solely to Rush, which is the only thing you can use to justify that ship.
>>139859760 No they're pretty boring and empty on content. But sometimes I just want to hear people gush about how good archie sonic was while I take a walk or play video games or.
>>139859834 Say what you want about Silvaze, but between 06, Colors DS, Rivals, and all the other media, it genuinely has more going for it than anything involving Sonic and Blaze. Blaze in both Rush games has a purely professional relationship at best with Sonic and other non-Cream mobians.
>>139859826 If they even had that, I could at least get the basis for it being a crackship. But they barely interact, like at all.
Hell, Blaze not interacting with almost anyone is such a fucking meme that she doesn't even meet 99% of the cast in Archie prior to the reboot nuking everything.
>>139859982 There are lines of dialogue in the open zones where if you wait long enough (and they're context and area-sensitive as well), Sonic will have multiple lines stating his affection for Amy. And even in the cutscenes and Final Horizon dialogue, he frets over and expresses way more concern for her than anyone else.
>>139859982 being generically nice to her is interpreted as "Sonic is madly in love with her but is le heckin shy timid boi" because directly before this period he couldn't stand her
After trying a few fangames related to Archie and SatAM I've noticed that Sally often uses Nicole in her computer form during combat. Does anything like that happen in the cartoons or comics?
>>139860427 Yeah rip, alot of the Sonegg on pixiv is locked behind a paywal and they only upload preview images. I do know there's a sonic x chris thorndyke doujinshi out there.
>>139860474 Yeah that sounds about right. I only storytime fancomics that have been released freely, not that I think people should be directly charging money for Sonic fancontent. It's a shame because I'd have loved to have storytimed the adventures of femboy Rouge >sonic x chris thorndyke doujinshi Big oof! Unless it's older scientist Chris, he was pretty cute >>139860515 Oh my!
>>139860165 Surge and Kit are disillusioned fans of Sonic and Tails who, after being bonded with Eggtech/Dark Legion tech, become obsessed with "freeing" their former idols by wiping out Mobotropolis, Eggman, and dverything else in their way so Sonic and Tails are no longer burderened with the responsibility of saving people.
>>139845140 this thread really got active for a while after it slowed to a crawl, I honestly expected this to be archived a while ago but check then bam 600 replies, missed the arguing which is probably good since I'm trying to talk about ship stuff less
>>139859747 Good Eggman looks like he'd sound like Bob Ross or Robin Williams also Anti-Sonic has the cool kind of chest scars instead of....well, you know
>>139860682 oh for sure, I was on the unofficial rides a ton, posting stuff I commissioned, seething at Silver, figures it's more active when not busy with job or stuff got going on in reality
>>139860617 Her PDA was never used as a weapon I think. Unless there was some scene with her activating some trap in a room for the enemy that I forgot. Her hologram form did get some beam powers, but I vaguely remember that being only usable in the digital world.
>>139860793 Yeah, that was the worst. Imagine a cute twink Chris going on space adventures with Sonic! They reverted his personality too so he might as well have not aged at all
>>139859877 Using only the number of existing interactions is a dumb argument. It should be how the characters can interact, how they affect each other, what their shared interests are. How the relationship actually works. Silver and Blaze need more focus on their own settings than the relationship that quite frankly holds both of them back.
