I gotta sleep (timezones and IRL life amirite?) But I haven't been this entertained since the /co/ Archie Comic marathon from 2013-14./co/ became a place I stopped coming consistently around 2016, and anytime I tried to come back I remembered why I stopped coming often (don't even have to say it). But earlier in May-July just seeing these threads makes me so happy. Laughing at bad Sonic comics and seeing these thoughtful fanfic gems made by teens really keeps me looking forward to my free time. The Sonic 2000s fan zine by domromart and the Shock & Awe storytime stuff really made my weekend these past weeks.
Ironically, /vg/'s Sonic general is way more trashy with fake literal who's drama compared to these chill storytime threads.

Yeah, it's difficult balancing the wishes of the artist with allowing people to experience some great comics. I ended up censoring their name and the name of the comic on the website for that reason. At least everyone in the thread responded pretty positively to the comic and generally weren't mocking it.
I genuinely believe these comics are important parts of the fandom's history and are worth preserving and sharing. I can't even think of another fandom where we'd could still post new fancomics a year later.

As an artist I can understand why some of the people featured here either don't want to see their old work resurface or switch to other ways to tell their story. Things get in the way, and for a good while making any earnest fan content ran you the risk of getting found by edgy teens obsessed with harrassing people for "posting cringe."

I know I'm not a monolith, and there's definitely going to be people who think wishes for comics to be erased forever should always be respected (which is a fair point), but I think it's a good compromise to archive these comics and simply list the artist as "Anonymous."

These threads are great because of how "out-of-character" they are for what you'd expect of the site. Giving fancomics a chance that in other spaces might not have happened due to the unfortunate tendencies of people to reject fan content that isn't technically proficient (IMO that's why some artists feel ashamed of works like these and it's super fucked up).

Yeah, everyone having a unique skillset leads to a much more compelling story. Pretty much the opposite of those isekai where the main character has all the powers and you're left wondering why they even need companions. I've always seen Sally as a field commander and an expert at statecraft first, and a fighter second. Interested to see where you take Antoine. That said, it is sometimes nice to vent about the current state of the media landscape. I'm pretty frustrated that almost all western animation aimed at adults are comedies. I want more Heavy Metal! It's been 41 years and I am in great need of sexy barbarians and lady barbarians fighting monsters set to the beat of a metal soundtrack!

Quick update on the website. It's pulling around 270 unique visitors a day, but the page hits are over 2000, meaning that people are actually checking out the comics! I think adding the comic covers really helped since the page hits exploded after I added them.
I've not fixed the robots.txt file so the site's not being picked up by Google, meaning all the visitors are from these threads. We may only average around 20 regular posters but our audience is far larger!

My opinions are too long or /pol/ to share. I agree. More music would be fun. A lot of genres are slept on. I mostly think people are right when they say creatives just stopped being hired for comic/cartoon roles decades ago, maybe most big money entertainment.
