It's a pretty interesting study on how often we overlook the most heinous acts during wartime. Most of the cast know Tails probably did it, but refuse to acknowledge it so they can put the past behind them and not upset Sonic.

One of the most unpopular ships is also kind of one of the only canon ones. Not really but close enough for the Sonic franchise.

There's a few lines that I'd like to see crossed to really consider the ship anything. The bare minimum is Sonic actually returning her affection. I haven't seen that in any of the leaked cutscenes. Just comes across as Sonic doing his usual thing. The next line is more involved flirting and showing interested, something we saw in Sonic Boom. And the preferred point would be a romantic hug or kiss. But the grand slam would be them becoming an actual couple. And none of that should be difficult. Plenty of mascots and video game heroes have love interests and relationships. The bar is lowered for this ship. It shouldn't be hard to clear if it's meant to be. Otherwise I'd expect live action Sonic to get it done if Amy is introduced in the third movie.
