A few posters have been shitting up those threads, valiantly fighting for team IDW or team Archie. Any reasoned discussion tends to get drowned out. If you're not aware, Archie was the original comic that ran for 25+ years before being rebooted, then cancelled outright. Most of the writers and artists were then hired by IDW, which is the current Sonic comic publisher. It's a totally new canon that attempts to be closer to the games (no SatAM characters, all new OCs look like Sega Sonic characters). As for which one is better, I recommend reading them both and making up your own mind. Personally, I like both.

At one point I came up with an entire series for a potential Sonic fancomic but after much thought I realized that it was best to just make my own comic and I did just that. What ended up happening is that I came up with another idea for a Sonic fancomic and I'm trying to inject some more ideas from the fancomic to the original comic without it coming across as really obvious. So now I'm developing stories and figuring out a better way to do a Sonic comic. What is it with princesses not being able to cook?

I'm not sure what to make of Okida's Sonic Unbound. There's a lot of content for it, even pretty hefty side comics. I'm not even that deterred by the quality of some pages being wildly inconsistent but some parts of chapters or even whole chapters are text only. I think there's probably 3-4 days worth of content but we'd be missing chunks of the story unless anons want to read the text-only stuff themselves.

That was very much the case for the pre-Flynn Archie covers too. Seriously, Sonic Mega Collection came with all the covers and I imagined a completely different comic. Not that I didn't enjoy Archie anyway.
