The Complete Sonic Comic Encyclopedia As we leave the Archie preboot continuity behind, let’s take one last look at it all. This book covers nearly everything and everyone (right up to the formation of Team Freedom and Team Fighters). That even includes characters that never appeared in the comic and the history of Mobius and its people that we’ve only briefly heard about! Of course that means that almost all of this is no longer canon. Still, it’s all very fascinating!

Max is technically worse because he allowed Robotnik to rise to power due to sheer incompetence and stupidity, he gave away his kingdom instead of sacrificing himself, was genocide-hungry, power hungry, was a POS to everyone including his own daughter, decided to replace her when she wouldn't bow down to the fate the piss pool supposedly had for her, and then in his dementia-ridden rage, wanted to bring his old way back. And all of these actions have likely caused way more death and destruction than George's Folly.

Don't really like much what had Ian done for the comic roughly at 175# and onwards, on the status quo and consequently how would it shape up forward a great half amount of stories who read as kneejerking self-masturbatory compulsive sadomasochism shocking stock (matter of fact, as rock bottom were some stories, I find it was truly at its most ideal when it was from Sonic in Space arc up to 175#).
That's speaking as it bluntly now. Preferences myself for Bollers and Gallagher aside, there's still goodness to chalk up to Ian, namely his effort on Monkey Khan and Geoffrey fleshing out character, revisiting a lot of old Archie Sonic materials and, whilst foolishly aligning it to games which defeats somewhat the charm, still had the good respect on keeping intact the core of the comic.
All the frivolousness aside now, rest in peace, pre-boot Archie Sonic. I may never have meet you as you were running, and I'm sorry, I wish I had meet you sooner. But I'm glad to have learnt of you. Archie later on did plenty of things that didn't make Amy a mockery. For example she defeated half of Eggman's troops heading to destroying the forcefield keeping the nuclear radiation in back in issue 132, she was easily able to defeat the Iron King during the Iron Dominion arc when even Sonic was easily defeated by him. She did plenty of good things during Archie and although there are some bad moments like the one with the Ring of Acorns I wouldn't say the writers did much bad against her besides sideline her often as she wasn't one of the core 4 in the comic. Even in issue 225 when Sonic and Sally were dating Amy defended the two of them from a crowd I think I remember because she just wants him to be happy whoever he's in a relationship in. She did the same against Fiona when she was cheating on Sonic and got angry at her because she cares for Sonic but not in a jealous or toxic way.
