Only really let down by his mental problems, but honestly I think he's just a plot device to facilitate Surge so he's just arbitrarily capable of moging everybody to advance the plot.

Blaze is better, she doesn’t just go through the same plot line everytime like Silver does nor drag all the focus to be on what she is up to like he does constantly and at least has a consistent and defined personality unlike Silver who has like 3 or 4 depending on appearance, adaption or game. As someone who's following The Ride from the start for the first time, it exists I guess. I'm more peeved that four issues of Mega Man, Sonic Universe and Sonic were used up for it while also using it as an excuse to completely reboot the Sonic comic because of the Penders malarkey making the old continuity basically impossible to use anymore. This thing sure is a roller coaster.
