This is yet another good idea that Sonic 06 squanders. Shadow turning on the world in the future for some reason and Omega having to stop him is a really compelling concept. I think it depends on the comic. I was fine when MeanBean did it, but that was basically a prelude to them deciding to dumpster all their Sonic stuff. And Teens Play/Child's Play eventually died the same, and I'm not sure it really sped up the release of new pages or not. So for some it can work, but for others, not so much.

>Sonic and the Freedom Fighters Note: Another early plot point that was later discarded was Eggman trying to recruit Tails. In the first issue, Eggman would be trying to escape and find Tails in his way. After a brief fight where neither land a hit, Eggman tosses Tails a tool he can use and escapes. Tails would check to see if it was a trap and once knowing it was safe, he would start to use it. Over the series he would upgrade the tool. This was mainly dropped because Eggman wanting an apprentice but making his intellectual rival even stronger didn’t make much sense. So this tool was rolled into Tails’ gloves.
It would be interesting to see Eggman having genuine debates with The Tails as an intellectual peer - especially since this Eggman isn't motivated by a desire to kill the Freedom Fighters or Sonic outright, but more his sheer scientific focus.

It's more about Sega protecting their IP and characters but they have taken it too far and created unnecessary restrictions for it. They have a clear and definite vision for everything and don't want anyone else changing things. Then again they change their minds on a lot of stuff and add in things that complicate or contradict things. It's even worse because they have a lot of lore and character backstories but also missing gaps in other places and for other characters. And that all makes the strict mandates harder to understand. Even when they say a character can't do something, half the time they don't have a reason for it.

Therein lies the problem. If they do have a vision, they haven't given a clear enough glimpse into it that would satisfy people. Stuff like setting up a lore division and letting Ian / Evan / Tyson / whoever answer some questions are fine enough gestures, but they function moreso as window dressing in practice. Are we going to see the portals that fling Silver all over the place and what's responsible, or is that just going to be the excuse to handwave him showing up in the next iteration of Cyberspace? If Blaze's history is indeed rooted in Sonic Rush first and foremost, does that mean Eggman Nega is back to being her primary antagonist or are we going to pretend that nothing of note happens in her world? Promotional material had the Deadly Six members being 100+ years old with Master Zik living for more than 1000, yet none of that has any impact on Lost World's story at all! There's a critical lack of both show and tell with this franchise, and the breadcrumbs they do drop on occasion only manage to create confusion.

SA2 is not as good as people say it is. This is coming from someone that's played basically all the mainline games and a vast majority of the spinoffs.
I literally think a vast majority of the love SA2 gets comes from childhood nostalgia with SA2 being the first Sonic game for tons of Nintendo kids.

Shipping Sonic with rivals is pretty common and I think Sally could be treated the same way. Knuckles gets angry all the time and has no problem fighting. Shadow is incredibly serious and standoffish towards Sonic while deep down appreciating his friendship. Sally gets in his face and calls him out and can talk shit to him just as well as he does to others.
