I doubt it. It barely has lengthy fancomics as it is, which implies there are very, very few who genuinely give enough of a shit to go that far for it. At most, you'll see Surge, Kit, Tangle, and Whisper ported over into other fanworks but retooled.

Definitely. Pretty much every iteration has a dedicated fanbase that has made continuations. No reason for IDW to be any different. And quite frankly, Tangle and Whisper alone guarantee it would happen. Let's not be coy here.

Actually there is, and the reason is that it is purposefully barren by Ian's own admission. Borderline featureless new locales, ABANDONED EGGMAN BASES for half the comic's run, stories are by and large of little consequence on purpose so as not to step on the games' toes, tarnished goodwill from a full year of massively played out gemeric zombie tropes and character assassination, no additional lore shit since that isn't allowed outside the games or other official japanese material, I don't expect anyone will do a dedicated continuation but you can definitely expect to see IDW's characters show up in fan stories since that's the only part of the comic worth carrying over.

Personally I enjoy IDW Sonic as a psychotic paragon, even if that was (hopefully) not what they were going for. It's certainly an odd choice of tone though. Interestingly, Flynn doesn't write Sonic like this in Frontiers but does write him as a bit of a jerk in Boom.
I still think having Tangle not be a rookie that learns how to be a hero from Sonic and the rest of the game cast was a wasted opportunity. Silver and Whisper going on missions together would have been fun since they both use ranged attacks but Silver would probably be terrible at stealth.
Setting Tangle and Whisper up as a package deal so quickly has meant we didn't get to see very much of how they work as individuals. Hopefully they add some stories with them separated

I agree more with Sonic being a whimsical badass force of nature than a psychotic paragon in the Classic and Modern Eras (I consider Colors through Forces to be Postmodern Sonic due to the dramatic tonal shift).

I guess my issue with IDW's characterization is he's always explaining his moral position on things in odd ways when he should just be demonstrating it through action. My other issue is they never follow through with the interesting implications of this Sonic's obsession with redemption. Is it because he feels guilty about getting captured during Forces so he's trying to forgive himself by forgiving his enemies? Is it because he can't bring himself to kill so their redemption is his only way out? Is he a psycho that just wants to continue "the game" regardless of the consequences? There's so much potential here for interesting stories
