Anon, one of the earliest comics we did was an ultra cosmic horror story where literally every continuity was condemned to a fate worse than death and that was also Sonamy. What you need to understand is that Sonamy stories tend to be very open with the misery and suffering stuff due to wearing it on their sleeves. Other ships like Sonadow or whatever the fuck Sonic Future kept building up to and teasing obscure it behind layers and layers of bullshit, but they're often just as bad about the misery porn, if not worse.

Outside of shit like An Unexpected Baby or Dark Doppels, I'm at least glad that Sonamy comics are fucking open and unironic about there being loads of suffering.

Two of the most major Shadamy comics we did featured a world run by a guy who was a Slaanesh-tier sicko with an Oedipus complex who created a world where all women where slaves to torture, abuse, or rape at will and where he had to regularly sacrifice them to the infernal artifact he was using to maintain his grip on his world and its direct sequel featured a second ultimate lifeform who wanted to rape and mindbreak Amy to inseminate her with his own offspring, and was perfectly willing to directly abort her baby with Shadow to ensure that. Alao humans being shitty and causing all sorts of mayhem inbetween. Say whatever the fuck you will about the other stuff we've done, but most Sonamy stories aren't nearly as unhinged as that.

After she gets her soul and free will back and actually apologizes for the way she treated him, Sonic does genuinely start showing that he likes her. But he's also sort of a broken wreck at that point, so...

Of course, it could still turn out to be that it's all Zielo fucking with him to drive him even further into despair and his friends are all still under his control.
