Don't believe IGN's lies. It's a beautiful game with diverse level environments, an interesting story, and an excellent introduction of the boost mechanic into 3D. Sort of! The level layouts are completely different. There's more Werehog levels since they split up the longer ones. The final level's much better too, since Sonic has his own version and the Werehog has about 5 of his own. The 360 version has this as one big level for both of them and can easily take an hour to complete. There's also no mini quests or 3D level hubs the Wii version, instead you get some platforming stuff inside the Gaia temples, which you only see in cutscenes in the 360 version. Sonic's controls also felt a bit tighter on the Wii, and the boost mechanic worked a bit differently.
The major drawback is you don't get Mazuri or Empire City stages and the graphics aren't as good. Highly recommend, even if you've already played the 360 version

I thought it was a good change until I played it on 360. Those hubs were fantastic, so many little details that made the world feel lived in. Just the right size to be interesting, but not so large you could get lost. I must've spent hours just strolling around those hubs. In my ideal hypothetical sequel, there'd be more hubs, and you'd be able to walk around them and do touristy things like take characters out for dates, specifically Knuckles.
On the Wii, it's just an image with icons for the levels and NPCs to click. It's pretty streamlined, but with more depth than the Colors level maps
