At least Frontiers seems to be trying to turn that around in the games, however slightly. Literally all you need to do is cut out Amy's ridiculous obsession (or at least tone it down) and make it so that Sonic isn't fucking scared of expressing himself around her to the point of fleeing on sight. That's it. Sonic Boom figured this out so easily, shilst SoJ has been floundering on doing the same until they literally gave Ian a writing position.

Would the Archie comics have been more popular had Sonamy been a thing at any point? It almost was because an editor wanted it to happen but it never came to be. It might have even made way for healthier depictions of Sonamy in fanart and fanfiction.

Alright I'll start off strong. The hidden palace zone always gave me the idea of a grave situation. Instead of a water temple it's the Pit of Pestilence in the Stronghold of Security from Runescape. Sonic and Tails must find a way out, but they can't as every exit is blocked and no matter how much they run in an endless combination of desert and green alien insides full of disgusting bugs and otherwordly creatures like ankous... they reset where they started off from. They hallucinate that they got outside using all 7 chaos emeralds and have celebratory sex only to wake up back in. Worse is that the area gives them a malady that makes them literally melt into each other and turn into gelatins with skeletons inside of them, they even give out steam as they melt. They say it feels really amazing, until they snap out of it and waste an emerald to buy them some time by purifying them, but the emerald goes back in the special zone. Tails eventually figures out the puzzle, they must bury a bunch of enemy droppings at an exact spot between a short time frame in order for a tunnel to the surface to open.

In the original stronghold of security you for every door you access you just have to pick from 1/5 answers after being given a question about how to keep ypur game account safe. Yes while enemies still attack you, so you have to clear a small area before dealing with the sphinx door.
The puzzle I exchanged it for instead was for one of the hardest possible treasure hunts in runescape that went on for I believe 2 years because the riddles made no sense and did not poibt towards having to carry 3 specific items in your inventory before you dug at exactly 1 tile of space.
There's another puzzle I have in mind from Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, but 1 wpuldn't fit as all the items are in very separate areas and in 2 it requires reciting a latin chant backwards to get teleported to a cave and have an awkward item like a bucket for a helmet to open a shielded door.
