Site update!

That’s right fellow passengers on The Ride!™, I’ve actually updated the site! We’re now at 800 thousand visitors and 1.4 million pageviews. Absolutely terrifying, but that’s not why I’m writing this post.

Website features

Let’s look back at what I was supposed to be working on:

  1. Getting videos to work. They’re actually all uploaded, I’m just having trouble getting the javascript to handle displaying them. DONE!
  2. Making Plus4Chan links clickable. They’re just text right now, but once they’re links I’ll be able to point the desu and plus threads to each other. DONE!
  3. Adding links to Plus4Chan posts in the desu threads. This way it’ll be easy to see the images that’re too hot for /co/. DONE!
  4. Better Author handling. Currently you can see the other comics from the authors in the sidebar, but having clickable authors would be useful too. Not sure how to do this yet, but I’ll give it some thought. DONE!
  5. Dark mode. Turns out, someone’s already done something similar for Hugo, the framework I use to build the website.

Well I gave it some thought and came up with a design that I’m actually happy with. Authors are now clickable in the comic pages, and will lead you to a page with links to their art accounts and a list of their comics. The links to their accounts are still at the bottom the comic, so we haven’t lost any functionality. What a mess it was getting all of that to work together!

Oh, and I’ve also added a links page and have started adding translated blogposts for the Child of the Green Hill comic here.
