What’s all this about?
On September 30, 2021, The Unofficial Sonic Storytime aka The Ride™ began, with our dear Unofficial Conductor hoping to cover every Sonic fancomic of at least decent quality. For those unfamiliar, a storytime is an imageboard term for posting the pages of a comic while other posters react to the comic in realtime. It’s a fun way to enjoy comics as a group.
Where can I find these discussions?
Our main threads can be found here on plus4chan, the comfiest place to discuss everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog.
We also have daily threads here, where most of the comics are storytimed.
Archived threads can be found here.
How can I contribute?
The best way to contribute is to add interesting discussion to the threads and hunt down new comics for us to storytime. If you’d like to contribute to the website, you can update comic and artist details using the forms on their pages. You can also add new comics here and new artists here. Feel free to comment on the spreadsheet I use to store all comic and artist information here.
As this site is a celebration of the creativity of the Sonic fan community, it will always remain advertisement and donation-free. The hosting costs are very minimal so will not be an issue. There are hundreds of fantastic artists featured here that are worth supporting so throw your money at them instead!
Why a website?
It was getting difficult to remember which comics we’d covered and I wanted a dedicated place to archive these comics and discussions. While the Sonic community has done an excellent job at archiving and cataloging official media and even fangames, surprisingly little work has been done for fancomics.
As a result, this website has become the largest and most comprehensive catalog of Sonic fancomics on the entire Internet. Our goal is to provide a convenient way to see what comics we’ve read, and to help new readers find way past cool Sonic fancomics.
Why no IDW?
This is a fansite dedicated to celebrating fanworks so the official comics are out of scope. Other anons have storytimed the official comics, so you could try searching desuarchive. We may archive storytimes of official media that have gone out of print.
Why are so many normal posts deleted in the threads?
Why indeed! If you want to see deleted posts on live threads, I highly recommend:
- 4chan X for quality of life improvements on 4chan.
- GhostPostMixer to read deleted posts in live threads, pulled from sites like desuarchive.
- Captcha Solver for those sick of filling out the captcha just to post. Accuracy is over 95%, which is far better than mine!
You’ll need a userscript manager to install these scripts, here’s what I use personally:
- Violentmonkey Firefox Chrome
- Userscripts macOS/iOS/iPadOS
I need to get in touch with you
If you’d like to chat publicly, I’m active in the unofficial Sonic storytime threads. For direct contact, please see the contact page. I don’t check this as often so if it’s urgent, let me know in the threads.
