Sonic Universe #91-94 This is it! The final Archie Sonic arc that got to see print! The Chaotix just got a job and it’s to help find a princess! But they’re not looking for Sally, they’re looking for the elusive Undina! In their search, they’ll come across an angry shark and his pet chao, pirates, and… an ancient weapon of mass destruction?
Question: What did you think of Sonic Universe as a whole?
>>142683533 >Question: What did you think of Sonic Universe as a whole? Pretty consistently great. It's always nice to see the rest of the cast doing stuff.
>>142683533 >Question: What did you think of Sonic Universe as a whole? Easily one of the best ideas and additions by a mile, some of my all time fave sonic stuff is in that alone and nice way to use cast
>>142683533 Sonic Universe was a great idea, definitely nice that Sonic comics were able to do 2 issues a month again without all the problems the Knuckles comics had
>>142683601 >thief >spy >soldier >businesswoman >underground prize fighter >hacker >and now info broker It can never be overstated just how much stuff Rouge does. She honestly feels like the protagonist of an unseen spinoff at times with the sheer amount of things she has going for her.
>>142683756 It's really funny to think that they could've had the FFFF be relevant in the reboot world since they're actually bothering to expand upon ocean dwelling mobians gallagher was just ahead of his time, clearly
We already had a pirate adventure, a chaotix adventure, and a undersea adventure in the reboot. This story feels like a rehash. There were way more worthy characters than the Chaotix that deserved the final Sonic Universe story arc.
I really wish Abyss was in the comic more. The concerted efforts to focus on the aquatic stuff indicates that she would've been a big deal down the line.
>>142684247 I do hate how there's something with raisins in it and there's no version without them. >>142684225 The good thing is that the Egg Bosses could show up at any point but it's a shame that they're all working for Eggman. At least they're allowed to do their own thing when not doing what he orders them to do.
>>142684394 >>142684387 Apparently something with her hands make it hard for her to work. I'm sure she still discusses stuff with Ian but not writing stuff like she did for Archie.
>>142684532 >A spy, a robot, and a grumpy science experiment go to the beach- Aw, I wanted to hear more about Team Dark's hilarious seaside shenanigans.
Sorry, but I won't read it. I never read the last few issues so there will always be unread Archie Sonic in my life to look forward to. A fun ride nonetheless.
>>142683533 I had my subscription from when X shifted over to SU, so it'll always be special to me even though not every story was super interesting. >>142684592 I've fallen off for a bit since Shattered World began, it's not that the comic is bad at all, but as someone who regularly reads fanfic there's really nothing more tragic and annoying than a story you're attached to remaining unfinished and it's hard to get into knowing that preboot is dead forever the remaining work is less of a reboot and moreso hospice care for the comic
>>142684675 Poor Blade. I feel she's secretly down on herself and feels like she needs to prove herself as much as possible. It's why she needs conflict, or think she needs it.
>>142684753 Pirate girls give no fucks. >>142684713 She wants her brother to share in their pirating ways. No matter how bad they get. She's got no interest in anything else.
>>142684942 >sega: you must create waifus and squander their potential! Again, I chalk it up to Flynn and Stanley just kind of giving up at some point. It didn't happen right away, but it did happen, and I honestly can't blame them.
>>142684871 Archie didn't need approval from Sega to make OCs. IDW does. Can't even give background characters names without putting them through a process.
>>142684982 GOD I miss the Meropians. It was genuinely so damn cool to finally have some aquatics around. And you can tell there were long term plans for them too, which I was looking forward to since these characters are all pretty cool in their own right.
>>142685118 >lost your ship and your brother That's rough, buddy. >>142685083 To think that it was used for tourists that Echo did on the side but didn't work out is even better.
>>142685265 TOMORROW IS THE FINAL THREAD! At 7pm EST we'll do Mega Drive and the last finished Sonic Universe issue as well as the unfinished SU issues. >under 300 posts in this thread Haha, good luck on getting this to bump limit!
>>142685374 I felt sadder when the preboot was ending. I feel you. It is kinda sad. That Mega Man issue was so bittersweet. I kinda wish Dr. Light got visions of an alternate world (Battle Network).
>>142685374 Because Shattered World had an ending. You could cut it off at that point. There's fun to be had in the reboot but there's not that level of attachment you'd get from the preboot. It's hard to feel attached to a continuity and have it taken away and then asked to care about the replacement. Every instance of the games replacing preboot continuity feels shallow in comparison. Ian did a lot of cleaning up and fixing. He had faults that made some stories pretty bad but Archie had that appeal going for it. So preboot is unfinished and gone while the reboot has a good enough ending.
we're almost to the end of the ride once again, Archiesisters. What are your thoughts on the run as a whole? Highest highs? Lowest lows? Favorte writer? Favorite illustrator? Favorite comic-exclusive character? Favorite fan continuation of the story?
Barescale with me yet again! Vector is totally confused. Intrigued, yet quite confused. He wonders what the worth of merely touching them are, but you assure him that, for a croc like him, it's worth everything. Egotistical as he is, he agrees.
Sat up on the table, Vector gleefully shows you the soles of his shoes. Whenever you want to, he'll allow you to remove said shoes. When you do, you see that the big croc really needed your money. Still, your quite elated with the sight. You even get a preview of the full thing. After all, as you've noticed before, Vector needs the money. When you took a brief whiff, he grimaced a bit. But it doesn't matter! He's got your money, so you have his time! You kiss his big toe and Vector's other toes curl back a bit. He didn't expect you to do that! But he relaxes soon, whatever floats your boat, weirdo... he thinks.
You finally remove the socks from his feet. His soles are so entrancing, you pull some more money out of your pocket. Suddenly, the big croc isn't as bothered by your odd interest in his feet. Before long, as you touch and rub them, Vector hands you a bottle of extra strength lotion and tells you to get to work! You liked hearing him make demands in that domineering voice of his.
>>142685391 >>142685479 Kinda sums up my feelings. I dont feel as attached to this as I did with preboot. It just aint the same even if i did have some fun
Oh! I forgot to post this earlier! So back in the preboot, when Genesis happened before Worlds Collide, there was this afterward that Ian wrote. As if you needed more of a reason to hate Kaminski.
>>142685547 >Favorte writer? Ian >Favorite illustrator? Butler. Guy is straight up the GOAT on archie sonic aside spaz. >Favorite comic-exclusive character? Oof, thats a hard one. Maybe Shard. >Favorite fan continuation of the story? ASO
>>142685701 >Every branch of SEGA, from the American to the European to the Japanese divisions, all helped weigh in on the project B-but I was told that SEGA had zero involvement in Archie, even during Flynn's run!
>>142685724 >TMOM still doing that animatic thing? will the rest of the issues be animatics? I hate how these things take ten times as long with half the amount of content shown compared to just continuing the comic. You end up with somoething that almost always isnt worth the wait.
Late but here’s my idea how I would write World’s Unite. >Sigma teams up with Neo Metal Sonic and forms an evil bromance with him instead of being a one man show. They are both rogue power hungry machines who turn on their creators. >instead of forging a clusterfuck of IPs at the last minute the event is built around celebrating all the iterations of Sonic and Megaman (this would require Sega to get the stick pulled from their asses but it’s a fantasy scenario) >Classic Sonic partners up with Rock >Modern Sonic, Shadow, and Silver team up with X, Zero, and Axel >Boom Sonic teams up with the legends cast >Nicole and the freedom fighters partners up with the battle network cast >if you want to get really into nutty scenarios we bring in AOSTH and Underground Sonic and team them up with Megaman Zero and Megaman Starforce >for the climax Sigma fuses with Metal Overlord and fights Super versions of everyone >Xander Payne is nowhere to be seen
>>142685763 In the amount of time it's taken she could have done a few issues by now. It also makes reading again a little awkward since it's a different format.
>>142685770 >One of the climatic battles is X & MMZ vs. Amped Up Omega in Zero's Original Body >Omega then activates an Armed Phenomenon form: a cross between Absolute Zero from Command Mission and Zero.EXE.
>>142685921 >Wealth, fame, power. >Yuji Naka the co-creator of Sonic obtained this and everything else the World had to offer. And his imprisoning words drove countless souls to the seas. >“You want the FF back? You can have it! I left them along with everything I gathered Together in one place. Now you just have to find it! ” >These words lured men to porn sites, pursuing porn greater than they Ever dared to imagine. This is the time known as the great IDW era.
>>142686202 We kinda covered everything (and I mean everything) after the last ride, like a solid year of nothing but fancomics. All those threads are still on neocities
>>142686157 Broken clock... or Butler sold it to him. >Steve: I just think if we want to convey this as an underworld bar scene we need some tavern whores. >Ken: As long as it doesn't effect my star wars/trek references.
>>142686243 Fleetway had the Sonic Adventure adaptation I guess with Robotnik being defeated and probably just blasting his brains out and Super Sonic being returned back to Sonic
>>142686243 Fleetway basically ended when they gave super sonic amnesia and ousted Robotnik from power in issue 100. Everything after that was pretty redundant.
>>142686317 Dimitri and Edmund were named after two brothers in some soap opera I forgot the name to. Albion reminds me of Wakanda. A super technologically advanced city hidden from the world. He also ripped off WW2 poetry and speeches.
>>142685667 I'm going to exclude the Game and SatAM cast to avoid obvious answers.
Bride of the Conquering Storm Fiona Fox Nicollete the Weasel Echo the Dolphin Blade the Shark Clove the Proghorn Barby Koala Mina Mongoose(specifically the older design with the shorts and Axer hair) Julie-su Hershey the Cat
>>142685424 Surge plays spinball? I was already working on a Disco Elysium inspired fic with Surge in it, but I completely forgot about kimball. Guess I'll have to have Surge be really good at s/pinball then?
No reason to spam, there's nothing wrong with the thread lingering for a little bit Lots of people tend to miss the threads that archived at light speed and wished they were able to catch them
>>142686798 Thread dies fast in terms of people posting when it gets late into the night. Couple threads ago stopped at around 450 posts in the night and it barely made it to archive before the next thread started. This thread is tracking behind that.
Professor Gerald during his breakdown reprogrammed Nicole to have her use Shadow through his Black Arms DNA to open a portal to summon the Second Devourer on the universe. After that was done, she goes back to her old self which was supposed to resemble her Reboot design and she helps the heroes stop it.
Shame we'll probably never see it on pages, though.
>>142687136 Yes, she is, no matter how much SoA tries to reconstruct Amy's character and gaslight fans into thinking she was always a girlboss badass. Blaze was always the toughest female in the series.
>>142687184 I don't think you realize how long it takes to draw a comic, especially a highly detailed one like Evans. Even though I'm not a fan of her nu art style.
>>142687245 Right before the day is saved, both Shadow and Tikal admit they love Sonic. After the Second Devourer is defeated and everything is restored: Rouge is back to normal, and Shadow dates her too. (Also, I think Shadow goes blind after he summoned the Second Devourer and remains like that for the rest of the story)
>>142687197 Dont care, best parts of GotF are everything involving silver's sister and the page where Metal gives him the rawest high five I've ever seen
>>142687318 I'm alright with most of her choices in the comic, the only thing I found cringe was her origin for Sonic's species. Thankfully, it was never explained within the comic, so it's easy to ignore.
>>142687339 Well, at least she explained how Sonic got put into Metal Sonic yet still existed later. According to Evan, Sonic used the Chaos Emeralds so much that he is very connected to them, so if something happens to Sonic's soul they'll just create a new Soul Sonic like a Cloud backup. When that one was inserted into Metal, the emeralds just created another with the same memories.
>>142687316 Well she's famous in the sonic fandom, and it is the sonic fandom. Someone must have been autistic enough to write all the important parts.
>>142685399 Have we ever had an actual Metal boss fight? Where you don't just chase him and where he's not a giant dragon, just like a regular boss fight against regular metal sonic
Did she only give out the bulletpooints during the stream ? Because any of these things might have looked better with a good execution between each event.
>>142687432 She explained what she wrote down in a document and went into detail. The story was basically reaching its climax when she stopped doing it.
>>142687481 GotF Sonic was in is mind and that gray/eerie version of Green Hill Zone was in Fleetway Sonic's subconscious (I think Fleetway's Super was supposed to dwell there). He would also share control of Fleetway Sonic's body when Fleetway Eggman invaded. Super Sonic would eventually burst free and destroy the Death Egg.
>>142687179 That would open the floodgates for people to shit all the more on her fan or canon work and accuse her of trying to insert her stuff into canon honestly ...well more then already
>>142687530 I can't remember all the details, but it was supposed to be an all out war in the city against Fleeway Eggman's forces and GUN (under Nicole's command). Nicole would be forced to team up with the heroes after failing to negotiate with Fleetway Eggman (She would've been forced to share the same system as the Kintobor Computer). Zachary would try to betray Eggman. The giant Shard was also supposed to help the good guys, who would also spill the lore about Sonic's spirit being duplicated since he's made out of that Metal Sonic.
>>142687576 >sonic appeared in smt so therefore its sonic akshually stop being disingenuous, do you walk into a mario thread and start posting sonic because of the olympic games?
>>142687554 I was being sarcastic and barely glimpsed GOTF, honestly sounds like she kept all her weird bullshit out of it before she could implement it to properly
AI Sally manages to make everything sound like a threat. But joke’s on her, there’s a whole lot of Sallys across Mobius! It’ll take her forever to get rid of all of them! Well, Sonic and the gang have an ultimatum and deadline. Good luck on that!
>>142685547 Good fun. >writer: ian >artist: yardley >character: finitevus >continuation: aso >lowest lows: slap, 150, naugus games, 113, house of cards >highest highs: enerjak returns, mecha madness, 175, Return to Angel Island most of Universe.
I watched that 3 hour Sonic the comic thing. It was really funny finding out that the female editor for the comic told sega to fuck of repeatedly with their mandates lol, lmao
>>142685547 >Favorte writer? Ian, but that's a given for anyone actually invested in these Favorite illustrator? Butler > Favorite comic-exclusive character? Scourge and Finitevus for preboot, Eclipse and Razor for the reboot >Favorite fan continuation of the story? Haven't read any! Still holding out hope for Lost Hedgehog Tales yes I'm delusional shut up
>>142688203 I am just begging give it an actual ending but maybe leave it open ended so if they continue it under a different publisher it could be continued
>>142688235 Its already open ended with how the comic is only putting out small arcs and filler stories. Evan doesnt want to risk writing something big that will be cut off without conclusion.
>uhuhuhuh teehee gals gals gals *sips tea* waifus waiifus~~ x3 >mai waifu aaaaah >x< >uuuuuh need gals aaaah CUT THAT COOTIE SHIT AND MAN UP AND RAISE THESE TESTOSTERONE LEVELS SONNY BOY
Enough of BPD walking sandwiches. Rank the fuck up Sonic men off these comics or cartoon you look up as coolest hottest and dilf'est of the bunch (Megamen absolutely included just to spite >>142687537) as top 10. Go nuts you sissy cowards.
>1. ROTOR THE DOOM MAN, THE GREATEST MASCULINE WALRUS MAN >1.5. Tundra, fucking hottest and competing with MOTHERFUCKING ROTOR >2. Dagger >3. Boomer >4. Colonel Sommersby >5. General Stryker >6. Augustus >7. Frost Walrus >8. Guts Man and Concrete Man even if I have played only Megaman 11. >9. Walt the Wallaby >10. Mammoth Mogul
Also love Guntiver, Flip, the pre-reboot Acorn guards, that's off the top of my head, but there's ton more I definitely enjoyed and loved.
>>142685633 Barefeet with me. Your proses are flavor'ish and pleasing as ever to read. I read most of times you posted. I like a lot anthro big feet men as you do, so lovely taste, homie. It's really good in the last paragraph especially, with the lotion and the domineering voice leaving the sweet cliffhanger for the incoming loving mating (or really just more licking on feet, that's hot as well).
I hope you post more, even if the Ride's about to end, sadly.

>>142687460 The "She's actually dead and gone and this is just a copy and isn't real lmao!" is an assertion to the main antagonist of the comic, and even if she was in a more helpful form like say, mainline archie continuity; she could still be wrong.
>>142688713 In terms of both hunkiness and importance, I'd say. 1. Gag-era Robotnik, X Eggman, and Boom Eggman. 2. Mammoth Mogul 3. Rotor and his variations, like the one from the alien planet of himself, Boomer, Dagger, 4. Big the Cat 6. Vector 7. Helmut von Stryker 5. Colonel George Sommersby 9. The Iron King Jun Kun 8. Kodos the Lion (he was as evil as he was hunky) 10. Mobie (practically a proto freedom fighter) So many others ought to be there and I basically cheated twice, but there. Bonus: Guts Man, Auto, Stone Man, Concrete Man, and Hard Man (the bots with bara proportions and baratudes!) Blackjack the Bulldog from one of the best Knuckles comic arcs. Avery the Bear Someone from the reboot... Tundra and Axel. Sigma Zavok Omega
>>142685289 Thanks Conductor. It was a great SU arc to end the run on. Really do wish we could've gotten the adventures Undina and Echo in another SU arc or during the mainline book, but thems the breaks.
>>142684753 He's so pretty bros ;_; >>142685062 Oh boy, he's already tied up! >>142685170 ;_; >>142685289 >At 7pm EST we'll do Mega Drive and the last finished Sonic Universe issue as well as the unfinished SU issues. Thanks Konductor!

>>142685724 TMoM is still making episodes, but it takes way longer than just making a comic. Actually, I'd love to see one featuring the Echidna Security Team! >>142690317 We were robbed!
>>142690754 Well, there's still the fan continuations. And on the plus side, we'll always have the fan comics to discuss hew hew Still, end of the most complete Archie Ride ever storytimed ;_;
>>142690884 I'm glad my first experience of the whole Archie Ride was with these upscaled pages for sure. Made reading them much more fun. Archie Sonic as a whole is such an interesting beast. Basically supposed to have been cancelled around issue 50 or so, but just shambled on like a zombie until it was forcibly cancelled years later. But to fair, it was a pretty entertaining zombie. Not the Knuckles mini-series though, that was a fucking -slog-
>>142690932 I'm glad you enjoyed the cleaned up images! I only actually upscaled the ones we didn't have a digital reprint for, although I did use AI on all of them to remove the blocky jpeg compression artifacts. It's a fascinating look at what happens when what was supposed to be a short-lived licensed comic flies under the licensor's radar for over a decade and completely diverges from the main canon. There's a lot of weirdness and miss-steps, but I love it anyway >Not the Knuckles mini-series though, that was a fucking -slog- The Knuckles comic doesn't really start until #4, when best boy Remington shows up! And Julie-Su as well, I guess
