>>141930998No, this is a perfect moment for Sonic and his friends.
Sonic in the games is a lot of times, not a real character. He is just a symbol a static person.
Sonic is not Jesus, even he has a limit. He just has a higher limit than everyone else.
He always helps and inspires everyone around him. He is the flame that always kickstarts a wildfire.
But even a fire can burn out. And with Sonic going through so much stress, pain of loss, and with the odds higher than ever, at some point, he too can give out.
But this is where his friends come in. Sonic's friends are not just side characters in a video game. They are there to support him, to comfort him, and when he even is burnt out, they return the favor by boosting him back up from a pit of despair, and remind him that despite everything in existence going to absolute shit, his friends being hurt or dying, there is always a chance that the day can be won.
THIS is Sonic. THIS is Sonic and his friends. If you think that any of this is out of character, you are simply in love with a static, spotless image, not a real person. And I simply cannot love that.
How can anyone possible say that Sonic is a good character or a favorite character when most of the time he is not even a character? Archie is one of the rare instances where he is actually fleshed out and feels like a real person and not a furry, basic image of Jesus.
Of course, Archie has had some weird moments with Sonic's character but this is not one of them.
