>>141637647>>141638617And just like that, they are back together as if they never broke up. Someone in an other thread complained that the "Will they or won't they" shit with Sonic and Sally was "so goddamn tiring", but I think this is not the right way to consider this.
It only is tiring because the writers use the most bullshit reasons to break them up whenever they are more than 5 minutes together:
-Start to refer to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend
->Enter St John
-Finally Kiss after defeating Robotnik and almost dying
->Time for some royal cockblocking, with the help of Geoffroy and some Mina interference
-Actually get to confirm their love for each other (cause, technically, they hadn't even break up during all this time)
->hey how about immediately dying right after that? Or at least a whole fucking year apart? Space, WHOOOO!
-Finally reunite again in one of the most wholesome embrace of the series
->quick, gotta break them up straight away in the most forced characterisation possible, can't let that last or the readers might actually enjoy it.
-Hey, finally back together after load of bullshits has finally been addressed.
->Welp, guess we'll have to reboot the whole universe then burn it all to the ground to be sure. Can't let that happen.
Sally and Sonic never really had a "won't they/will they" dynamic to begin with, because the "won't they" part has always been forced on them by either external force or editorial bullshit. They actually work as a couple and have an excellent dynamic. What is tiring is to seeing the bullshit keeping them apart.
I dunno, saying that they shouldn't be together because the "break ups and reunification" are getting tiring feel like admitting defeat to the editorial forces keeping them apart. It's not the characters themselves who are toxic to each others.
