IIRC what was originally going to be Chronicles was lost in dev and basically had to be remade from the ground up, which is why the game feels so taped and glued together. Also the reason why the music and sound effects are *so* terrible. Thank fuck you can break the game over your knee if you recruit Cream and find/use the augment Chaos that remove the tapping minigames and mana cost.

No, it's biggest failings were the graphics, the gameplay, the music, and the sound effects. Fuck having to Elite Beat Mania every goddamned attack, fuck the basic attacks being so horrendously inaccurate forcing you to use the special attacks, fuck enemies going into evasive mode in the middle of turns making all of your attacks miss for no fucking reason, fuck using the touch screen to move around the map, fuck every sound effect being some generic ill-fitting noise from the Looney Tunes SFX archives, and especially fuck that hideous soundtrack.
