>>140628359Then there was the Slap.
Yes, Bollers wrote that, his editor probably was in on it too.
People keep blaming Penders for it but I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a hand in it, or at the very least, was gleefully overjoyed when that comic got put into print.
Honestly Sally slapping Sonic is kinda understandable considering all the shit she had been going through. Note, this doesn’t justify the action.
The slap scene is shit though because of how poorly executed it is. Sally making Sonic choose her over Robotnik, whom she is also currently fighting??? It makes no sense bro like who’s gonna fight robotnik now if not Sonic or Sal or what about everyone else???
???
Bollers is a retard.
What would have been way better was if Sally slapped him the moment he came back because while she has been in a hell of her own in her grief, Sonic just swoops back in like nothing has changed. Then Sally could break things off right after and walk away in tears because she just can’t handle being around him at the moment.
Then let’s make it better, there can be actual consequences from the slap or something idk I haven’t thought it out that far.
Point is, Bollers wrote it like a retard, and Sally got to be a mentally disabled jerk to Sonic with no real consequences and the whole thing is basically forgotten for a while.
That and Jon Gray’s art being even more exaggerated than usual in this scene makes me feel like it’s simply a bad dream.
Speaking of Jon Gray, the slap was unsurprisingly his least favorite work in his entire Archie run
