Eggman pulls his glock out again and nearly headshots Amy and Tangle, but the city's power source management system is offline because of the shit Tails did last issue, which causes the cyber world to shit down, which freed Sonic, Whisper and Lanolin off-panel. Whisper and Lanolin get to act badass but don't really do anything at all.

Meanwhile Silver pep talks Shadow into freeing himself from his Emerald prison and Shadow uses his powers to warp all the giant emeralds away.

Sonic beats up Eggman and the whole city goes flying b/c of Shadow.

Then there's a hook for the next arc, where Amy is taking an echidna artifact Rouge found to Knuckles.

Actually, the Archie cycle tends to be more about scrambling the card around only to come back to a well known Status Quo.

The only thing it really had going was the will they/won't they with Sonic and Sally and after a while, mot reader thought even that was going stale and were all too happy for them to finally be together. Sonic gaining his modern design, Sonic getting his uncle and parents back, Enerjak and the entire multi-arc nonsense dealing with that, the arrival of the echidnas, the formation of the Council itself, Scourge getting his current design, the ENTIRE sequence with Patch disguising himself as Antoine that forced Elias to take the crown against his will, etc.

You brought up the will-they/won't-thry thing with Sonic & Sally, but neglected to mention that they WERE a couple until a fuckton of extenuating circumstances altered that up to and including the return of Max (itself a status quo change), the shit with Patch, them getting back together inbetween all that, Sonic getting yeeted to space for over a year, THE SLAP, and eventually them growing distant from one another before drawing close again immediately prior to Sally being roboticized.
