It's not a matter of the comic being vertical. I do'nt think anyone has issues with that. It's how some of the panel are composed. Look at this for example. it's basically impossible to tell who is talking to who where is each character located or basically what is even going on. It's a clustered mess difficult to parse through.

If you try rearranging them it doesn't make it any better. I'd say that replacing some of the characters would help but the ones used are obviously because of Sonic Prime. But I can see what they're trying to go for.
