It most likely will not lead to anything. They would have to actively push for the other sovereign nations to come in to action and many suspect that it was an accident/typical fuck up. They'd have to be really bold and extremely stupid to try and push for this if it actually was an accident, so the likelihood of it being the catalyst for a major war is practically nil.

Here is a pitch for a fanfic/comic.
After the defeat of the end in frontiers, Sonic's ancestor (from the mural, if you want to think it's sonics ancestor) awakens from her slumber and now she searches for her descendant so that she can train him in order to face the end final form stronger than ever before.
after finding sonic, she also meets the rest of the cast (except for tails which is currently training), with hilarity ensured as she has to get used with a fuckton of culture shock, or meeting descendants of people she used to know.
