Update on the DA situation:

They've fully backpedalled from automatically opting-in people's galleries. Now the default is having your art be opted-out.

While this is great for preventing DA's AI from using your work in the future, given the nature of AI this doesn't work retroactively. Also, this program uses data from both Stable Diffusion and LAION, each of which have their own "illegally sourcing artwork" issues. There's also no real way to know if the "noai" flag pieces on DA have now will succeed in stopping third-party AIs from sourcing shit.

TL;DR: Shit's fucked, but we had no real way of knowing until today. However it's still better than it could've been. Bullying corporations works (just barely)!

I was born in 1982. I watched the show when I was 11. I would be dishonest with myself if I pretended Sally and Bunnie weren't having some effect on me. It wasn't the whole reason I watched those cartoon, but it definitely was part of it. The same way part of the reason I was watching TMNT was because of April and her form-fitting yellow suit.

Most of the Sonamy comics we've done are really fucking old, with all kinds of shitty tropes being included in them that were prevalent at the time. Nowadays, Sonamy comics mostly focus on more wholesome stuff or how Sonic eventually comes to like her back.

They're parallel versions. a comic is a reflection universe, like the toie adaption of dragon ball. it's similar and has most of the same characters, but it doesn't reflect in the other direction. it's a one way hand off of canon materiels, not two way. game is primary canon, comic is secondary. anything the game does is mandated to be reflected in the comic, but anything the comic does is irrelevant to the games.

adaptions are be definition a second canon. the source materiel still takes precedence. even if you have a situation where the adaption fixes a plot hole, the original can end up contradicting that retcon because it is free to do what it pleases without abiding by any restriction the adaption places within its canon. anything the original does then has to be re-adapted and re-retconned because one still takes chief priority.
