We have what I’d call some efficient shipping. Even though this is a love triangle between Sonic, Amy, and Shadow, there’s also relationship drama with other characters. Princess Amy (Sally who?) is about to be queen and she’s throwing a masquerade party to celebrate! If Sonic doesn’t make a move then the new mysterious black hedgehog might. This is Masquerade!

It can be much worse. We've seen it with threads for new IDW issues. Everyone thought it was going to be bad when the entire series was done again for the IDW Ride. Turns out it was fine. And yet threads for new IDW issues continue to be pretty bad. And that's because /sthg/ only cares about new issues and will go from their thread to the ones here. I've seen old issues of various continuities storytimed in /sthg/ and there's barely any engagement. New issues are a different story. Also, /vg/ and /v/ are shitty boards on their own. Pretty much this. /sthg/ cares FAR more about new releases than anything else. They'll still perpetuate garbage like "Sonic was never good" or shit up good threads en masse, but stuff that attracts them is often new topics of discussion because those are the easiest to latch onto and ruin. Once they've burnt out that source of validation and shitposting, they usually stop caring and focus on something else.

They're consistent with IDW and now Frontiers because these are the new big things. But inevitably once IDW ends, and everyone has gotten their hands on Frontiers, they're not going to care beyond regurgitating the occasional stale shitpost or bait.
