If anything I'm pinning for a hypothetical comic issue where someone he actually respects tells him how much of a weirdo he's been and he actually takes it to heart, but even then I can see his personality just outright refusing criticism, even if it stems from a trusted someone.

He's cool to read and watch, but if he didn't come with the credentials of being an established character, if you put him in front of me I'd have assumed this was a case of either a WAKU WAKU shonen protag-kun or an outright villain protagonist.

I think part of it stems from the fact we barely ever hear his thought process. The only times I can recall hearing his introspection in the comics is back during the Metal Virus arc and recently in the Scrapnik Island issue. In written media like comics and manga, when a character has little to no thought bubbles or times talking alone, it usually implies they're incomprehensible, unpredictable, unstable, or a combination of all three.

Well, it's nice that the problem with modern Tails is being addressed but from what I've heard nothing really come out of this in the actual game.
