In all honesty though, unless some of them migrate out of the Starfall Islands (or smuggle themselves onto Tails' plane when they're leaving), the Koco probably won't be seen around outside of there. Wisps at least can be explained by some willfully choosing to migrate to Earth/Mobius of their own volition when Sonic left. Koco can't even take care of themselves in their own home.

I also don't see what they could even do in greater society, outside of forcing people to have to keep them from getting themselves killed. Chao and Wisps can at least defend themselves. Koco are adorable, but they're horrendously stupid.

Anon, there are genuinely bad games in the franchise like Colors, 06, or fucking Boom. Any game that at least tries to have a plot and identity is infinitely better than anything we've had since the Meta-Era. Even 06 tried (and failed) to have a serious tone and story to it, which is more than I can say for most of what came after.

Games like Black Knight objectively play poorly, but that's ignored by the vast majority of people because the story is enough to carry it. Something like Forces has none of that.

The Forces script for instance, mostly tracks in both as being a mess of half-assed grimdarkness. The only thing the localization did was establish a clear timeframe for Sonic's torture and remove the execution bit.

Overall, I'd say it was probably the Dark Doppels which was just incoherent from start to finish and didn't really have any big narrative or plot worth caring about.
