Is he aware of the future Mobius stuff, though? The readers knew about it and SIlver visited that future, but I don't think Ash had any way to know about it.
Mina did consider dumping Ash so she could pursue Sonic, and there were some moments where Sonic appeared to be have some interest in Mina too. Ash was a jerk, but his suspicions were still correct. Sonic was a potential threat to his relationship with Mina.
Also, look at Sonic getting together with Fiona. It wouldn't have been that odd if he had done something like that with Mina too. He actually cared about Tails but hurt him by hooking up with the girl he liked anyway; he had no reason to care about hurting Ash's feelings.

After the infamous slap, Sally and Sonic were not a couple. Sonic was single and available. That was when Mina thought about breaking up with Ash. She was given advice that she should work on the relationship she's currently involved in.
She seems to have still been hesitant about which guy she wants to choose after that, though. It looks like she made her final decision to stop pining after Sonic after a bomb incident where Ash got hurt and she realized she does love him.

Tails was the one most badly hurt and humiliated by Fionia betraying everyone. See: the Slap and him weeping again afterwards and running off to be on his own
Tails continued to be hurt long afterwards, and voiced this fact to Sonic's face. See: Antoine's wedding, where he literally said out loud how miserable he was about it. See: 175, where literally only Rotor even bothered to care about the fact Tails was obviously depressed, and Sonic and Sally were too busy sniffing their own farts.
TL;DR Sonic has utterly no justification. Sonic knew Tails loved Fiona, Sonic knew Tails was humiliated and heartbroken by everything Sonic had done regarding Fiona. Tails voices this fact to Sonic again and again and again.
End of the day either Archie Sonic is a braindead 50iq brainlet with a learning disability that prevents him from making even the most obvious of social observations, or a spoiled narcissistic manbaby who doesn't care about his "friends" beyond getting them to worship the ground he walks on and who didn't get beaten nearly enough as a kid. Chances are it's the latter.

Archie Sonic is basically a wild combination of undiagnosed PTSD, ego, disgusting amounts of narcissism born as both a coping mechanism for his PTSD and simply because everyone praises him as the hero of Mobius, horrendous anger issues, and just him generally being a stubborn idiot who sucks at expressing himself. All of these traits combine to create the disaster hedgehog who messed up Tails emotionally for so long that it constituted a several arc long problem and who someone failed to register it. What Sonic works are you familiar with? Just curious. I thought everyone in these threads has read Archie's StH, or at least the Flynn era if not all of the earlier stuff.
Anyway, Ash is the yellow guy with black hair in pic related. He was just a bit of a dick who was always saying something rude. Ash disliked Sonic because he knew Mina had a crush on him, and because he blamed Sonic for hurting her feelings. He seemed to be a decent and loving boyfriend to Mina, although somewhat possessive. But some others found his sour attitude difficult to put up with.
(Sonic on this page isn't actually Sonic. It's an evil Sonic from a different zone pretending to be the regular Sonic. Also, a couple of pages later Mina feels guilty and puts an end to the flirting because she's currently dating Ash. Some issues later, she makes the decision to commit to Ash for good.)

Ash, Mina and Sonic all contributed to a messy love triangle. None of them is the lone person who was on the wrong; they all did it together.

Sonic pretending to feel guilty just comes across as disingenuous to me, when for the entire time he and Fiona dated he didn’t care even a bit for how Tails was obviously affected, and even after he didn’t care at all for how heartbroken Tails was. But now he’s saying he supposedly felt bad about it? He didn’t, he kept it going for months and months and didn’t even notice he was dragging Tails through the mud.

I like Archie but I do think it's best to start over with the series. I know it'll never happen but doing a new series that incorporates the games and Archie from the very beginning is what I've been really thinking about. Everyday I think about doing a webcomic series. But one page a week would take a while to get through what I have dubbed Sonic 0, Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles. That'd be several years in the Genesis era.

Neither's Flynn (actually his character sketches aren't too bad), but that's not stopped him. Even if you're terrible at art, you can still write the plot outline and dialogue. Blocking out the comic panels isn't too hard either, any panel sketches just have to be a bit better than stick figures anyway. Attracting an artist to a project's much easier if you've already got the premise and plot sorted out, and can show them something that looks a bit like a comic.

Ian's a writer. He's the guy that took over and revamped Archie Sonic and later did the IDW comics until Evan took over after Metal Virus. He's now a writer for the Sonic Frontiers game. Those sketches are just design ideas he gives to writers to work off of. And to think he started off as a Penders fan and doing his own fancomic before landing a job at Archie.
