This. SU has really interesting designs, but they're the oddest out of any Sonic cartoon. A lot of the background extras look more like aliens than anthros. Here's a shot from the first episode, I couldn't name the species for any of these characters.

As always, Knuckles and Amy makes sense. She takes the initiative because he's bad with girls and he is the exact kind of guy that would settle down and give her the attention she desperately needs.
