They "like" IDW because it's the closest thing to the games outside of the games themselves. Forces came out in 2017 and the comics pick up after that even though it has barely anything to do with that game. They hate Archie because it's not the games and they hate Ian because he's the face of Archie. But they don't really like IDW. It's just the best they'll get while waiting for the next game. Ian being a writer is the only real problem they have with the comics. So they'll talk about how IDW is good, never specifying what's good about it, and shit on Ian. It's weird.

It's probably due to the fact that back in the day the general was more of an Archiefag general than a Gamefag general (Due to The Ride on /v/ during that time), but there was friction and animosity even back then because it was on /vg/ which slowly attracted more fans of the games. Once Archie was officially cancelled Gamefags basically went "Your comic's dead. So get out!" to Archiefags which very soon happened because there was no more comic material for them. Since then they developed a very elitist hatred towards Archie. And they champion IDW (Even though they don't like it that much) because Archiefags, while not all of them, do seem to seethe over that comic over bitterness from Archie's sudden cancellation.
