Sonic Boom #5-7, FCBD 2015, and The Traitor
Worlds Unite is right around the corner, so let’s get the last pre-event Sonic Boom issues out of the way! This first issue is not only written by one of the showrunners for Sonic Boom (as well as the voice for Comedy Chimp and the walrus lady) but also the last work from Steven Butler for Sonic! Eggman wants to win over the people and in order to do so he’ll host a carnival. And if that fails, there’s always go-karting with the heroes. And then we check out the FCBD issue. We’ll go over Xander Payne’s backstory (again) and Sonic gets a visit from Silver! And finally, Snively goes over his reboot backstory! So when’s Shortfuse going to tell us his?

Not really as Classic and Modern have re-merged continuities we already know Fang and gang aren't going to get it, or they'll leave it for Starline to pick up, either way Sega wants the Topaz around so not much will happen.
I don't think Sega is even that interested in re-introducing the classic cast.

I'm surprised that haven't done it earlier, back in the classic era chaos emerald were just a supernatural mineral formation, then Adventures retconned them into being The Seven Chaos Emeralds.
Now they've even been given unique powers thanks to Superstars, and more history about them.
I guess we also had the gems from 06 but nobody gave them the time of day.
, it's also worth noting the Warp Topaz was created by Ian to be a canon equivalent of Doctor Finitevus' Warp Rings, and well pic rel as well.
So we might also get Master Emerald/Echidna lore, even the ancients didn't know why it was and it fucked them over.

I was here when this was actually being published. There was actually some optimism for the deadly six. This was before they were overtly shilled, they only appeared in one game. We thought Flynn could fix their characters like he did with a bunch of comic characters or give them new personalities like the battle birds.
People had a lot more praise for his writing back then.

The way I see it is this way. Some writers have had multiple runs and have different views on each of their quality. It's not exactly unusual for writers to have varying quality on each of their comic runs if they have multiple runs. Ian's run on IDW just isn't of the same caliber as his work on Archie.
