Sonic Universe #29-32 Last time we saw Scourge, he was being escorted to No Zone’s jail by Zonic. What’s happened to him since then? Nothing good! Poor Scourge has been constantly beaten physically, mentally, and emotionally by the other inmates. Spirit broken, powers inhibited, and his quills have been shaved down. But here comes Fiona and the Destructix! Can this group of villains break their leader out of the multiverse’s most secure prison?
Question: Since these are the last comics with him in it, what do you think of Scourge?
>>141805063 >Question: Since these are the last comics with him in it, what do you think of Scourge? Scourge is just Sonic if he was a Vivziepop character
>>141805063 >Question: Since these are the last comics with him in it, what do you think of Scourge? I find it pretty funny that Sonic being evil makes him a sad loser.
>>141805063 >Since these are the last comics with him in it, what do you think of Scourge? I have never been a big fan of Evil doppelganger. It's kinda nice he was developed into his own character, but I still find him annoying.
I still think Scourge should be a one time characters that shouldn't have come back.
>>141805063 >Question: Since these are the last comics with him in it, what do you think of Scourge? He's the best "Sonic but evil" and that is no exaggeration.
>>141805063 >Question: Since these are the last comics with him in it, what do you think of Scourge? he's great, I miss him a lot >>141805153 sounds too good to be true, but I'd love to be proven wrong
How do you think an Eggman Nega arc would've played out if the lawsuit didn't happen and Ian finally got permission to use him in the preboot universe?
>>141805234 >>141805256 I like to think that Zobotnik was once the Zone Cops' primary enemy, until some shenanigans saw him turn kinda face, and they put him to work "rehabilitating" the worst criminals in the multiverse. This prison is just as much to contain him as all the others.
>>141805333 I don't know. Nega is supposed to be more evil than Eggman but Archie and Ian's general take on regular Eggman is already maximum evil so he'd have to go more with the petty troll thing
>>141805334 >Mephiles being there is actually indicating that 06 actually happened Would have been one hell of a ride, even if it was for a rest at the end.
>>141805093 >Say, who's that Tails-looking guy on the bench? He doesn't seem violent. Just sittin' there, smiling like he's havin' the time of his life. >The other prisoners refuse to talk about him. >One guy pissed off Bench Prower and immediately learned the reason why he's in here
>>141805333 I don't think Ian really wanted to use Nega besides maybe finish off the Rush Adventure properly. Besides, the war with Nega was a convenient plot point to explain why Zonic doesn't do his job more often.
>>141805351 >>141805373 It's kinda sad how there's so little difference between Moebius' Maxx and Jeffrey and "our" shitheads. If anything at least Maxx is more honest about it.
>>141805407 >Ah, thank goodness, ya lads are here to spring me outta this joint. I'm sure ol' Hershey Maxwell is waiting for me on the jet. >W-why did you shut the cameras off?
>>141805501 I mean if there was no government trying to stop him I don't see why that would NOT make him King, plus being king of Mobotroplis seems to make you king of the whole damn world and he took over the anti-equivalent
>>141805561 >Just because he's a parody of bad OCs He is not meant to be a parody in the first place. It's simply Penders who love to rip-off Star Trek ideas.
>>141805373 Anti-Naugus is a friendly, courageous, and strong wizard who was enslaved by Anti-Max to serve as his forced court wizard
He now wanders around Mobeius in his wizard's robe and hat, seeking to help others and restore the damage Scourge has done. He has a long Gandalf beard too
>>141805561 He’s not a parody of bad OCs. He’s literally just the evil Sonic. Your understanding of him is surface level at best, yet you never seek to actually correct your ignorance.
>>141805611 Yeah, but they also use infrastructure and actual governing work to establish and maintain their power. Can you imagine the SS even knowing what paperwork look like?
>>141805630 Imagine having to watch a monitor at a 90 degree angle. >>141805611 >>141805622 Those have armies that can be deployed. Scourge and SS weren't doing any of that after they went around the planet.
>>141805630 The only reason the prisoners don't beat Al and Cal up is not just because they're too weird to deal with, but their classic 1920s vaudeville antics during the talent shows are actually pretty good
>>141805583 Yeah, but you would think something that can cut off Sonic speed and literal godlike powers would also, I don't know, keep Predator from flying or Frog from extending his tongue.
>>141805639 I think Sonic goes with the Death Star method of administration: Manage your shit nd bing me Tax Money or I'll personally come to beat your shit again.
>>141805695 I like that Zobotnik has genuinely noble goals but he's just the guy who deals in extremely harsh training and discipline to get it.
>Zobotnik has been studying roboticization, but not as a slave program. >It's instead a "last resort" offered as an alternative to death row inmates. >Rather than be a cold, merciless robotic slave bent on death and destruction, 'Zoboticized" inmates are kind, helpful, generous, and pillars of their community with all of their dirty and mean personalities scrubbed out
>>141805695 >the Destructix are more dangerous than evil Freedom Fighters and various Robotniks Why the sudden wanking? Not long ago they were just mooks that were barely a concern to anyone.
>>141805759 WEAPONS BAD >>141805739 Unfortunately Scourge wasn't smart enough to do any of that. He fought, he won, he took a victory lap, and went home.
>>141805716 >>141805752 >he meets Anti Conquering Storm, a sweet, encouraging matriarch who think inner strength matters more than might and want to train him >he turns his head towards his team >"...okay, this isn't working, I think I have a developped a thing for women with disdainful glares"
>>141805715 That just furthers my headcanon that Zobotnik used to be a villain, and the prison is primarily to contain him. ... Kind of unethical of the Zone Cops, but not out of character.
>>141805711 >been in here for thirty years Subtle.
>>141805483 He kept talking about how he wanted to use Nega on his forum when it was still up, but Sega didn't allow him to. He definitely had plans for him.
>>141805787 Aah, the Gorilla Guerrilas, a massive deep pull, and yet one obvious in hindisght to tie with him. >>141805806 He was one. Emphasis on was.
>>141805724 >Moebius Conquering Storm >The Bride of Righteous Lightning >A Powerful yet Humble warrior, she and the Raiju Clan protect the Dragon Kingdom with their allies the giving Yagyu Clan, Battling Monk Jun Kun and Regina, the Iron Healer.
>>141805829 >yet one obvious in hindisght to tie with him. It was a common fan theory back in the day. Like the one about Rouge being a Yagyu. Only this one Ian decided to make canon.
>>141805855 Mogul is really just a weird magical mob boss who makes anyone who tickles his fancy into debt in exchange for powers, or literally just cause, Simon is like the only one with extra powers from the deal I think
>>141805787 >Unfortunately Scourge wasn't smart enough to do any of that. He fought, he won, he took a victory lap, and went home. I mean, my guess is that it's what he would have ended up doing if he hadn't been stopped by Sonic.
At some point he would have remembered "Oh yeah, I have some warlords ready to do my bidding. Silly me".
I admit his invasion of Mobius would have gone very differently, had he actually considered that.
>>141805373 Given how Maxx is basically a more stable but also more evil Max, I suspect an Anti-Naugus is just a more stable heroic version of our Naugus. Basically Gandalf, like that one anon said.
>>141805768 >Why the sudden wanking? The Destructix were personally handpicked by Mammoth Mogul himself to be his elite strike force. They gotta be competent to some point.
>>141805951 Let's just say that in at least one Zone there was a pack of bestial mobians just tearing through everything for the wild Kingdom of Acorn.
>>141806043 I really like this short spine look, I know he mentioned them shaving his quills off but is that as a means of keeping him in line or does it actually factor into his effectiveness in combat?
>>141806043 I like how Simon and Predator are like "I wanna go up against the best and prove myself!" and Scourge is just "Shit, dawg that's all I wanted in the first place"
>>141806150 I wonder then if that means Sonic was at the height of his power back in the post-Adventure days of the comic when they drew him with his spines as long as his body
>>141806175 He may not be a nepo baby like Speedy but Jet literally needs a team to do next anything, he's kinda worthless on his own. You'll see in his arc
>>141806175 Well he's the youngest and Wave and Storm follow him kinda just because even though they're not really any less powerful. I can see Predator having a problem with that.
>>141806232 Find it funny how powerscalers use this and later quote by Scourge to prove that Geoffrey, Scourge and by extension Sonic can hurt them even without collars
>>141806241 >Scourge: It's about time I get to top. >Fiona: Yeah, yeah. Just keep your butt plug in or I get Flying Frog to top you again. >Scourge:........Don't threaten me with a good time.
Oh my fucking god, I just got it The Z axis is perpendicular to the ground plane That's why they're all at right angles And their names all start with Z Jesus, guys, I think I might be retarded
>>141806342 Aiming high! >>141806336 In this case it didn't because he didn't do anything other than beat up a bunch of people and go home. That's what Fiona said he did.
>>141806293 Those neck collars remind me of Cyber City Oedo 808. Aldo kinda surprised Zobotnik didn't make a team of criminals to solve Zone problems in exchange for lowered prison sentences.
>>141806380 >be the best >lose once >get exiled Let's be real, Conquering Waifu didn't like him in the slightest and used this as an opportunity to get rid of him.
>>141806291 >...why DOES Wave follow him? Storm's a huge moro I think the 3of them just are friends since they are kids. Wave might have more common sense than Jet, but Jet is the drive that find them new plans along the line, even if they need some streamlining. Storm is just happy to help his friends.
>>141806376 Zonic did explain that he comes from a "perpendicular" dimension and not a "parallel" one way back when. Of course that was a joke on how comic book universes work that just sorta stuck
>>141806338 Have you not seen their interactions? Sally is def a dom at times. And while he’s the main hero, he’s a softie underneath. Definitely a switch.
>>141806437 >Conquering Storm sees Monkey Khan's strength >Across the Dragon Kingdom, there are tales of a furious storm and the moans/screams of the King of The Free People.
>>141806437 That would have been if they had the duel personaly >alright, I won! So, will you break your allegiance to the Iron Queen >naturally. After all, it wouldn't do to serve my husband's enemy, would it? >glad to- HUSBAND?! >surely you are not so disrepectful as to deny our clan's sacred way after you've proven your strength, when you sought us out? Now come, we must make for the breeding Meanwhile Lightning is cucked to death in the background while Sonic laughs his ass off.
>>141806368 she killed her sonic and eggman in a fit of femcel rage after getting buff for Sonic in the 'deviantart inflation and fat fetish' universe and was rejected for being fit
>>141805093 Quick reminder that in order to for Zone Cops to control the infinite multiverse, they should have infinite amount of personel, Infinite Mobians watching over infinite universes, each having potential to burst with multiversal threats, if their ranks are in any way finite, Multiverse will collapse
>>141806668 Hey look it's Roboticlus and Iron Snively. Remember? From when the book would literally just take some already established property and slap it on Sonic character and call it a parody?
>>141806668 >>141806700 This arc is really, really dumb and logically impossible, saying as an Archie fan, kind of god tired of all writers showing Zone Cops as so incompetent
>>141806668 Robolactus and Silver Snively being here make me wonder how does the prison operate in dividing by power scale or if they don’t bother with that cause of the collars
>>141806723 >>141806712 Oh yeah, it should also be literally impossible to escape from this jail even if you do something like this, because even if you somehow escape Zone Jail, you most certainly can't escape No Zone
>>141805761 Ian didn't want to use Nic at all, but he found a new redesign of her by Axer that didn't get used that he really liked, so he was still debating whether he could use her again or not.
>>141806700 See, this is my problem with the collars. They may as well not exist for anyone besides Scourge and Pals. I don't care if Fiona says she feels slow, the Destructix are clearly not impaired in any meaningful way.
>>141806765 Love how he rips his entire jumpsuit off in a way that mirrors his jacket, makes it feel like it should be a extra skin if he was in a game
>>141806551 >>141806584 >>141806613 >Flying Frog isn't even his real name. It's actually John Theodore Dahmer the III. Flying Frog was just his jester name and he liked it >Flying Frog has traveled across Mobius, performing horrific and unspeakable murders and tortures on everyone he meets. >They still never found that family from Downunda -- or at least, the parts of them he didn't burn. >And to say nothing about those Robians whose innards he tied together and hung from a tree like a fucked-up Christmas ornament >Had he been in Zone Jail any longer he would have been sentenced to lethal injection.
>>141806893 >This Zone's Knuckles was microwaved by Locke as a baby like Prime Knuckles >This Knuckles was driven to insanity at a young age and became unspeakably violent, yet also incredibly retarded.
>>141806894 Evil Tommy was actually helpful to his universe's FF and was kicking too much Eggman ass, Zone Cops couldn't allow that. Also he was viciously racist against Nate but that's neither here or there
>>141806975 if you think about it, If Dark Enerjak initially succeed in doing what he tried to do with Silver he absolutely would be targeted by Zone cops
>>141806322 >Zouge dresses conservatively. And she only cares about helping others. Huh. It makes me wonder what Zhadow, Zomega and Zope are like. Especially since Zope's brother and Uncle are not "evil" per say.
>>141806971 >>141806992 The Al and Cal anon just busted a fat nut. Can't blame them though, this is genuinely terrifying. Anyone who's been in this book for the long haul knows these two are the real deal.
Again, kinda calls into question how the fuck the Zone Cops managed to capture them, but I digress.
Y'know what I just realized. I don't think we've ever seen Zonic use superspeed. But like, logically he must be able to go fast, being a Sonic and all, right?
>>141807211 Not really, usually it just boils down to him taking charge in a fight, we'll see later that Sonic's not used to being a "real" leader like Sally
>>141807195 OH! That's how they contained Al and Cal. They just have a gun that can literally turn of their god modes. ... So what the fuck nightmare bullshit is Nega throwing at them that makes them hamble, if they can just disable literal GODS with a single shot??? Apparently Sage's clone son is built all kinds of different, goddamn.
>>141807305 Daaaamn, that genuinely sucks cause these guys are a fun bunch of villains and I honestly really like the Destructix, they are what the Deadly Six should be in all honesty
>>141807274 Bitch Nega, Nega have you lost your mind, Nega you bullshittin', Nega check that hoe!
Last week in lunch, Zonic says to me "Can a Nega borrow a French fry?" And my first thought wasn't like "Oh my God, he said the word, the N-word!" It was "Now how is a Nega gonna borrow a fry? Nega is you gonna give it back?"
>>141807372 And that's it! Tomorrow at 7pm EST we go back to Sonic! A sacrifice must be made and the suffering will really begin! It's nonstop heartache and pain tomorrow!
>>141805550 They're effective on everyone. Scourge merely used his powers so much he basically can't fight without them. Remember that Fiona used to be a Freedom Fighter and trained with them, and most of the FFs lack special abilities beyond physical prowess.
>>141807418 Shame to as they were really coming into their own as villains in Flynn’s run, before they were just carried by their design and names honestly, here they actually got some individuality and fleshing out
>>141806454 Mogul seems to like taking advantage of broken souls, people who would take the deal without a second thought. Storm seemed pretty at peace with herself, so I doubt she would fall for Mogul's offer.
>>141807305 >Super Genesis Wave is destroying Moebius >The Destructix just whipped the Surpression Squad's asses >Scourge: Surprised ya ain't running off. >Fiona: Where's there to run to? >Scourge:.......Point but-- >Fiona: At least we can't take out this useless bitch before-- >Scourge just pulls her in >Scourge: Give me some, Sugar. >Scourge & Fiona make out as everything goes to white.
>>141807340 >Ah yes, the next arc where Sonic is fucking pissed and tired of all sorts of shit that's been happening. And it's one of my favorites for exactly that reason.
>>141807513 > And it's one of my favorites for exactly that reason.
I see Sonic as the one who is the beacon of hope and encouragement for everyone. But even he has his limits. Sometimes, he needs his friends to help him find his own way again. That’s what I have about Sonic and Co
>>141807445 It's crazy how Ken's original Giant Borg idea would have fit perfectly with Dr. Nega's plan (whatever that may have been) here.
>Dr. Eggman Nega is assembling a massive zone-spanning war machine, using the captured inhabitants of ruined zones as fuel in Mark II Egg Grapes. >His plan is to completely obliterate every universe in the multiverse and transform it into his twisted mechanical nightmare
>>141807436 If that were to happen, when they invade Prime zone, I imagine one of the characters start insulting them and listing their failures, with one or both of them turning into robots and in rage shooting out a blast through time and space, oblitirating several zones
It might as well be a crime… that Sega refused to hang on to the Archie Comics, let them get rebooted and canned, and then refused to give us anything afterwards that comes anywhere close to the world building, lore, and character development that these comics have.
Yes yes these comics have their shitty moments but by golly, aside from a few weird decisions here and there, the latter half of these comics especially are a very captivating experience.
We will never have anything like this again. Sega doesn’t even have basic world building anymore
>>141807739 Archie was the one who dropped the license because of Worlds Unite. Nothing can't be given after because of legal issues. This is more complicated than Sega not caring.
>>141807739 But the brand, anon! The brand! Media properties aren't for entertainment, you're just supposed to consume. Give corporation money, because. You want a story, and emotional investment? Pffffft! Fucking loser.
>>141807789 That’s was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Ken did his shit. Then Sega refused to give them any support in court after years of treating them like the dad who went out for milk only to come by every now and then to slap them.
Continuing the comics was just a huge liability and the costs that they had incurred was just the thing that made them realize that this wasn’t going to work, especially with more mandates being pushed on by Sega.
>January 4, 2024 I get we rag on Penders a lot, and rightfully so, but this is one of those times where I'm just utterly baffled by what the hell he's talking about and how it led to this.
>>141807574 No but they are also popular, to say Scourge is the only popular character from Archie is just wrong since there are plenty of others and also Nicole is only so popular and known because of the version of her from Archie
>>141807489 Yeah suppose makes sense, plus probably easier to have under his sway since though Storm likes power she seems to like earning it of her own accord as opposed to modification either magical or technological
>>141807892 > “people need to understand that neither Archie, IDW or SEGA were ever invested in any of the characters beyond the SEGA core list of characters. They are never going to show up in any Sonic film, game, comic or any other format people would like to see them in.”
THE NERVE! THE NERVE OF THIS MOTHERFUCKER. HE’S THE REASON WHY THESE CHARACTERS DIDN’T GET USED IN ANYTHING ELSE.
He fucking sabotaged the SatAM movie which would have probably led to the American canon taking a bigger hold within the franchise.
Then he pulled all of the crap that he did in Archie which gave it a chaotic image.
>>141808044 You’re telling me that Sega wouldn’t have at least made some spin off games or something if the SatAM movie did succeed in America? I guess we will never know for sure though.
The fact that they were willing to even listen to Ben Hurst in the first place for a WHOLE ASS MOVIE for the United States shows enough that they at least were interested in the potential of this stuff.
Ken ruined that. That one point in history held an entire Pandora’s box of possibilities. And we will never see what could have been.
>>141808088 I said it before but I really do feel like Penders is a genuine narcissist a la Chris-chan and he physically cannot see anything wrong with the stuff he shits out
When they pitched the SatAM game for the Genesis, Yuji Naka took one look at it and angrily told them to can it. So as long as he was there (until 05 or 06) there was no chance at all.
>>141808156 But Boco, we don’t know that for sure. And we will never know. At the very least, we could’ve had a SatAm movie. At least that. I refuse to believe that the hearts at the top in Sega would’ve stayed completely hardened towards this stuff if they saw it could make them a lot of money and give them a good image.
>>141807623 The first few trailers looked rough but they really won me over with that QnA video. Plus if it looks as half as good as the storyboards an animatics they've been posting then it's gonna look great visually too
>>141808088 I don’t think even he believes that the Lara-su chronicles will be popular. The reason it took so long for it to come out is that he never expected to actually make it. He hoped that Archie or someone else would buy the rights to write the characters from him. The Lara-su chronicles was just a fake-out to look like he was busy actually using the characters and not just sitting on the copyright. He doesn’t give a fuck about the comic, he was always only after money.
>>141808236 That movie was as good as approved. Sure, I totally see that Sega would have imposed mandates but the fact that they were even willing to bring Hurst in to hear him out gives me enough cause to believe that this was a door full of so many possibilities. This was THE big shot. But again, we’ll never know for sure thanks to this stinking fuck.
And it just makes me so mad every time this dude opens his mouth and acts like he didn’t fuck a bunch of shit up.
Zicole the Zone Computer. She can see into all zones all at once. Unfortunately, it means she has discovered another universal constant. All versions of Mina the Mongoose inevitably antagonize every version of Nicole the Holo Lynx. Omniscience isn't as fun as you'd think it would be.
>>141808006 >people need to understand that Archie (...) were ever invested in any of the characters beyond the SEGA core list of characters. They are never going to show up in any Sonic (...) comic This nigga's seriously arguing Archie was never going to use characters they were using right up until Penders snatched them and fought him court over.
