I kind of ship them. To be honest, it's kind of a fallback-ship for my Sonally shipping, as I have a "everyone deserve happiness", but I also know that when a fall-back ship goes against someone's core ship, they take it more like a slap in the face (I should know).

With that said, I see a lot of story where it really work and create a good characters chemistry between the two, most of the time it's a dynamic that really work (Hello, Canas). Made me like the ship for itself. But it's also strange how I have seen several Shadamy stories where Sonic still pin for Amy and rub it in the face of Sally. It looks like while some will rely on fall-back ship, other just want to salt the earth.

The idea is you'd already be familiar with these characters, which is kinda difficult when he deleted most of his other comics over 20 years ago. Jonathan Brisby was the husband of Mrs. Brisby from The Secret of NIMH and was apparently a major character in the Gonterverse. MechTall is either Gonterman's OC or one of his friends. Paul seems to be his self-insert though.
