I let that to the artist itself to decide, sometimes, they make it in a way where it's intended to be read in a single scroll. Posting them as they were made seems to be the right way.

Since it won't become apparent in the comic proper; the reason Sonic/Light fears water in this AU is literally because they used water-torture on him repeatedly in order to gain results. He had the opposite living situation from Shadow in this continuity; instead of being raised with love and care, he was just treated as a tool to "one-up" Project Shadow.

In this AU, Sonic (aka Project Light) was made from the remains of the eldest Prince of the Ancient Civilization, which was inadvertently blown up because Lyric (who was an advisor to the crown and very loyal to them) went full retard and resulted in everyone but him fucking dying and the Ancinets entire civilization ceasing to exist.

Oh, and the Prince he was made from was bonded to one of the two gods of their empire, that being Mephiles IIRC. The other is Iblis, as you'd expect. Surprisingly, both were benign beings albeit weird.

The prince isn't really Sonic, but Boomnic in the AU ,at as well be his reincarnation so I'm not sure the distinction matters. And whilst I'm pretty certain you're right on Shadow being tied to Mephiles whilst Sonic is tied to Iblis, the prince had a lot of connections to Mephiles since the God would always be there to play with or entertain him.

Jamie Hyneman, though of course its show came to fruition on 2003, might as well be the guy who inspired Rotor's overall design. If one wants to, basing Rotor on him is a good way to go.

It's actually based on a fanfic where Amy is a completely amoral witch who steals Sonic from his family via a familiar summoning then enslaves, tortures, and generally abuses him as part of her plan to eventually gain even more power until he loses his shit and turns into the Werehog who maims and almost kills her. Then the gods punish her by not allowing her into heaven for her sins until she returns him to normal and if she fails to do so and redeem herself, she's going to be condemned to nonexistence.

It gets better admittedly, based on the fanfics itself timeskipping a fair deal and showing that Sonic eventually gets comfortable around her and eventually even comes to forgive and outright love her, but it takes literal YEARS of Amy going out of her way to ceaselessly repair all the damage she had done and build a bond of trust that enables Sonic to get past his PTSD.

Then she tries to perform the ritual to sever the bond with him as a familiar and let him go free, which will be fatal to her, as one final act of atonement and he fucking loses it once she tells him right in the middle of it. She briefly dies and the gods tell her in no simple terms that whilst she DID forge a genuine bond with him and that she wasn't knowingly hurting him, she left him with an even greater pain than the initial curse. They send her back on one last, last chance to redeem herself by letting her go back to him and they finally work out their feelings.

You could cut out a lot of the abuse and still have the story be intact. Like Amy wanted to summon some otherworldly familiar but gets some kid from another universe and can't return him and the gods tell her she fucked up and has to care for him and then he transforms into a werehog and they work out things from there. Also, Sonic's just a kid and she's a teen. While I'd normally say "nice" I'd also say "grooming" because of the abuse. Goddammit shota Sonic and older Amy is so hot but this ain't it.
