It’s Christmas time for Shadow, Maria, and Gerald Robotnik! What? “Does this take place in the past?” No, it does not! Thanks to our heroes (accidentally) messing with time, Maria and Gerald are alive and living in the present! I stopped reading the Shadow christmas comic, because of how nothing really happens until way later. I'm sure this was written by a kid just writing and drawing the first idea that came to mind, but it's so slow and daunting. I’ve seen some people complain about Eggmans characterization in Frontiers, but I genuinely enjoy seeing his more benevolent side. It gives nuance to such a cartoonish villain and is a breath of fresh air when compared to IDW Eggman. The whole game in general is just a treat and I hope the comics take some influence from it.

You can even see a little of it with Mr. Doctor Eggman in Prime, who balks at Babble wanting to more or less murder Sonic. Eggman not being pure evil is a trait of his that too many people forget because they focus too much on the atrocities he DOES commit.

Speaking of Prime and Frontiers, I want The End to appear as a villain in Prime. Simply because of how rapidly it would derail the plot.

I think it'd fit Eggman much better if he thought of Sage as another badnik creation of his, being proud of her because she's the best and brightest product of his genius yet(as she can actually get shit done unlike Metal JOBnic or any of his single-digit IQ minion duos/trios) rather than just giving her preferential treatment for no other reason than her being cute and funny.

It's not like there's any incentive for him to be nice to her unlike say, Metal, whose performance directly depends on whether Eggman can take the time of the day to do repairs and updates on his body. Sage is a program so any damage can be reversed by simply turning her off and on again, same solution if she gets her head fucked with by Sonic and decides genocide is suddenly a war crime, just click "reopen from save" and pick the one where she's still full of undying adoration for daddy

Except he explicitly doesn't consider her just another tool or a badnik, but as family - it's why he outright compares her to Maria no less. Eggman has ALWAYS valued the opinions of his family, yo the point he idolized Gerald until he found out that Gerald had utterly gone insane. Frontiers even all but outright states that he yearned for affection from the st of his family, but was denied it since everyone else focused on Maria.

The entire point of Sage is that she exists to be his Maria, a stand-in for the family he never knew. Making her just another badnik to be dismissed or disregarded as a tool to be used to sooth his ego misses the entire point and brings us straight back to square fucking one.
