I hear IDW isn't doing that well financially, recently losing some big IPs. They also don't appear to be selling as many issues as Archie did so they might not have the funds to run a second book. Even if they did, they seem to have a smaller team working on the comic so it still might not be possible. The pandemic probably didn't help either.

Unfortunately we might not know whatever the fuck RoidRunner was planning to do because this is seemingly all that exists of Sonic Afterstory. There's a lot of unanswered questions about the guy himself like if he's being ironic or not, if this is some sort of TGT-inspired work because of the MS Paint and other early chapter-TGT jank, or if he's got another actual account and RoidRunner is just an alt because his deviantart has been scrubbed off the face of this earth. Website update: I've made some progress on processing the plus threads. I've extracted all the post data, now I just need to recombine it so it's compatible with the website.
