Pretty much. That theory basically explains all of Metal's unhinged behavior with "this is an 11 year old child (roughly) stuck in an absolute living hell enslaved to the man who damned him and doomed his entire world". Fun little fact I recently found out: if Sonic fails several of the QTE's against the Titans, they show that they can just flat-out kill him through the Super Form regardless of ring count. Giganto eats him alive, Wyvern vaporizes him with a missile barrage, Knight crushes him beneath its sword on two separate occasions, etc.

No other enemy in the entire franchise does this, even amongst the ones that can damage Super Sonic directly. Not even Solaris boasts the ability to instakill any Super Form regardless of ring total.

It doesn't really jive with the whole "Sonic is continuously growing stronger every second" thing introduced in Forces and Generations (And further backed up by the fact that raising Sonic's level in Frontiers raises Super Sonic's overall damage output). Even in that same game, once Sonic gets Super Sonic, Perfect Dark Gaia folds to a single bullrush without its barrier. There's also Knuckles punching the emeralds out of him way back in S3&K.

In both instances, Super Sonic was caught very offguard. So it's not a measure of strength or losing in a contest of power like the Titan deaths are, but him being caught unawares.

Those are in the Classic games, where Super Sonic is far weaker - those were the same games which had stuff like Big Arms be inexplicably cpaable of harming Super Sonic, where no game after allowed any Eggman mech to even touxh him. The only thing in the Classic timeline to even harm a Super Form since has been the Phantom King, who was juiced up on the full power Phantom Ruby.

In the Modern games, only a handful of things have displayed the ability to directly damage Super Forms - those being Solaris, Dark Gaia, the Egg Salamander, and now the Titans. And out of all of those barring the last ones, none of them have been capable of instakilling Super Forms.

With the Zeti, IDW at least TRIES to play with the idea that they have no idea what concepts like love, mutual compassion, and true friendship are (or even just empathy for non-Zeti life) so it at least gives the idea that if given the chance, they could LEARN and not be total shits. But they also pretty much aren't allowed to do anything with that because SoJ is retarded and no characterization is the name of the game here.

Likewise, Zavok trying to convince Starline to give up on Eggman and embrace the group that he's forged could have gone somewhere as well, but it didn't. Preboot Sally was a bit of a jobber. She had no weapons. Compared to the other Freedom Fighters, she's about as good as Tails or Rotor before he gets his nanite suit. Which isn't much but she makes up for it with diplomacy. Reboot Sally had arm blades and was able to hold her own in many fights. That puts her up there with Bunnie and Antoine. Mecha Sally is her most powerful form, especially after getting modified by Eggman. Only Monkey Khan at full power was able to beat her. Either way she is super effective against Nack to the point that he hates her immensely.

Looking at her more "animal-like" claws on the tip of her finger in this pic here, I finally realise why seeing naked feet for Sonic characters has always been so universally disturbing: Fan-artists actually try to give them human feet and it just doens't work.
