Amy only truly became the unhinged mess that she is now in most Modern stuff because of Sonic X, where Sonic Team's preferred version of her was the screeching constantly angry and violent stalker that eventually migrated over into the games. Her original self as shown in original manga and adapted into Sonic CD was still clingy as all hell, but was more or less perfectly fine beyond that. Boom, if anything, was a return-to-form. Same for IDW Amy.

The problem with Sonamy is that the vast majority of fancomics for it use her caricaturized self from X/Modern and that's why the relationship inevitably fucking explodes.

I feel the exact same way when people try to ship Movie Knuckles and Sonic, or Movie Tails and Sonic. They're brothers, living under the exact same roof even. You could bring in literally any other character due to the open-book nature of the movies, but you choose the ones who are explicitly brothers for some ungodly reason.

I likewise feel the same when people make Movie Shadow get adopted by Wade and treat him as a cousin to the Wachowski brothers, but still pair him with Sonic.

The relationship drama stuff was before all that and resolved. When it was getting closer to the reboot, Ian just wrapped up his Sonally redemption. At that point, it wasn't the relationship that was messed with outside of his control. I remember his foreword or whatever for that arc he did when Eggman first fucked with the universe and I swear he sounded a little irritated. Because those four issues bumped his plans back and then the crossover happened. He lost the milestone to the crossover and 252 was the reboot. And that was that for Sonally.

It's so easy. You just slot the romance into a typical Sonic comic and you're golden. As for a scenario where Eggman doesn't attack, in the old comic idea that I later adapted into an original comic, Sonic and Sally would go on adventures and become a couple. After the events of S3&K, King Acorn offers Sonic and Tails a home, workshop, and all their needs taken care of. Something Tails wants so he can start inventing and better maintain the Tornado. Sonic is reluctant but agrees. After meeting the King and Queen, he hears a scream outside and finds Sally sparring and ruthlessly beating the soldiers. Sonic asks if he can spar with her and she puts up a good fight but Sonic gets a win, only for it to be a feint and she reverses things on him. Afterwards she starts pointing out his flaws and says they can learn from each other. They spend a year sparring and exploring ruins outside of the kingdom where they grow closer because of all the adrenaline and danger.

I don't know if I love the idea of Sally being a hyper-competent fighter that can go toe to toe with Sonic. I think part of what makes the Freedom Fighters work as a supporting cast in ways the official SEGA gang doesn't is there's never any question why Sonic is the name on the cover- he's the powerhouse, he's not getting outshone on the butt-kicking department. The others add believable dynamics for him to bounce off of- the team leader and love interest for his freedom-loving ways to clash with, the head mechanic who can train Tails but still keep the tech side of things running when Sonic needs his lil bro for an adventure, the previous big dick in town who's jealous of Sonic stealing his spotlight, so on and so forth. The notion that everybody needs to be an action hero with a special power first and foremost strikes me as falling into the same mistakes Sega of Japan does.

The only ones that come up to the top of my head from the games are Amy, Vector and Charmy. From IDW, I think the only normies are Jewel, Rough, Tumble, and Whisper to some degree.

The powerful characters in the series are a lot of fun to see, but I keep wondering how HIS WORLD looks like from the perspective of those that can't do batshit crazy shit. SEGA tried doing that with Buddy from Forces, but they fumbled it hard.

I get what you mean, but I enjoyed seeing them interact even through the dark ages. For a lot of Archie fans, it's not so much what was written in the comics that made them enjoyable, but how we misinterpreted our own depth on the world.

Yeah, something like that. As a young uncritical reader, I would interpret the dumb parts (out of character moments especially) as something that would be explained in a later issue. Max acting like a jerk? Surely he's got a good reason but can't tell Sally right now. Sally acting like a bitch? Something must have happened in one of the comics I didn't read. Knuckles and Julie-Su almost immediately a couple? They must have gotten to know each other in another issue.
Back then, you couldn't just download the entire set of comics and binge them. I'd make up stories about what happened in the issues I didn't read based on Spaz's awesome covers since they were all on Sonic Mega Collection.
Reading through them again as an adult I realized that while I still like the comics, a lot of what I liked was actually headcanon.

It was definitely the most consistently good part of the preeboot. Everything was getting tidied up, characters were much more likable, and the art never got weird. I do have a soft spot for the post 50 world tour Sonic and Tails did though, and seeing the characters try to move back into Robotropolis after Robotnik's death.

Pretty much. The third chapter had colored pages but then stopped and we thought it was because the colorist was taking too long. But after a couple spin offs, the artist moved on to different AUs and then seemingly left the Sonic fandom for The Three Caballeros. The artist has a really short attention span and doesn't commit to one story for too long. Thirstposter must be happy that the Droid Sonic AU stopped before it got really bad.

It also has parent/child navigation for short sequences, lets you see the entire collection/pool in a single click, and has navigation/return buttons for search queries too though that's less useful and annoying for being next to the pool buttons.

FA has two ways to disguise hyperlinks, the normal way almost every website from the last 20 years lets you ([url=google.com]finding a sauce[/url]), and a more easy to use version for First/Next/Last buttons.
Does DA not have that? I always default to looking in the description to try and find something like that but have never seen it (so never go on DA) and there's no public help pages to see if DA has formatting definitions unlike FA unless I have to be logged in to see.

This is all I can find of World Domination Baby. Artist's twitter has nothing and has been inactive for a year. Tapas only has the first 9 pages. Smackjeeves is down and Wayback doesn't seem to have any of the pages on there. I have no idea why the artist random deleted the pages.
