Modern Sonic and a variation of him like the one in Sonic Frenzy would definitely care that Archie Eggman and IDW Eggman are trying to commit genocide/total omnicide. Modern Sonic was significantly unnerved and worried about his friends during Lost World when things started turning towards everyone dying.

He might not have the same ties and loyalty to the kingdom as Archie Sonic does, but he 100% wouldn't just sit and let Archie Eggman genocide the entire planet as a fucking routine (but he probably wouldn't assist in breaking the roboticizer initially, because he wouldn't figure how dangerous or awful it truly is and might actually smash a few robians under the belief that they're proper badniks). Naugus comes in and says he's the rightful king because Max (who is sick and dying) was one of his knights and gave him the authority to take over. The council was put in place because Tails' parents didn't want Prince Elias, Max's son and Sally's brother, to rule alone. And the council has a couple of friends of Sonic, Chuck and Rotor, but the others are against him and the Freedom Fighters acting on their own. The problem is that they believe Naugus despite him being an enemy of Sonic and the Freedom Fighters and Elias not wanting to challenge him. Not really. Geoffrey only further screwed things up but he's not the reason the universe gets rebooted. Eggman managed to hide for a while and get the Death Egg going. From there he fucked with reality so he could roboticize the planet. Sally stopped him but got roboticized in turn. Movie Sonic (and his brothers besides) would definitely try to kill Eggman. They also wouldn't care to save I'm if he say, got caught in a situation that could kill him. Elias was the most reasonable one. Initially he used his authority and tried to take Naugus down with direct action. But when he realized that things were more complicated than he'd thought, he chose to de-escalate and resolve the situation peacefully.

Movie being the only version of Sonic willing to just outright kill Eggman will never not be hilarious to me. Every other Sonic has been dealing with the man's insanity for longer, but only the explicit youngest who hasn't had to face him for very long at all is willing to treat him as the absolute danger that he is and finally end his life.

The problem is that Ian writes Eggman as too evil, especially with the Metal Virus arc. Game Sonic not killing Eggman is fine because his schemes never cause that much onscreen suffering or loss. When he split up the planet in Unleashed the game didn't spend an hour showing people dying, families being torn apart, etc.
