Tonight is going to be a short thread so we can all unwind. We’re going to start with a new comic series that just wrapped up its prologue. We’re going back to Shadow’s tragic backstory but… something different happened this time. This isn’t how Sonic Adventure 2’s portrayal went! What’s the twist? Find out in Sonic: GUNShot!
>>132031749 What's worse, knowing your one friend is going to live forever while you only have a short amount of time left or knowing that you'll live forever while your one friend won't last that long?
>>132031768 Immortality without the ability to share it with those you love would be a fucking curse, so I guess that. Maria has already come to terms with her death per her own admission, but Shadow will have to live with losing her forever.
>>132031922 And that's the end of the prologue! Can't wait to see what this big change in Shadow's story will bring. Will Gerald not be fucking pissed at all of humanity? What will an older Maria do? How will this version of Shadow react to everything?
But we'll have to find out later. Let's do some really, really incomplete old comics.
>>132031863 He's the ageless kind of immortal paired with being far more durable than the average Mobian (who can already survive shit that would kill the average person with ease). Recall that he survived orbital re-entry at the end of SA2 and only suffered amnesia due to it in his own game.
If he wants to off himself, he'd need to basically completely destroy his body in a fuckoff huge explosion or find some eldritch abomination to eat him. And admittedly, the latter should be pretty easy since the planet is full of the things.
>>132032528 Well, IDW has an addition to that now. They're not primary, but Surge and Kitsunami might actually be able to live all the way to Silver's time, due to the Metal Virus having an absurdly long lifespan.
>>132032599 That depends on whether or not Starline fixed the problem with the Metal Virus in which it increasingly causes apoptosis which leads to the breakdown of the bodies of those infected by it. If he didn't, then they MIGHT live all the way there just to outright die by melting into puddles.
>>132032681 >omega out of commission >shadow saving eggman >rouge left alone Truly a dark time for Team Dark. And that's the last page of them for this comic. Which is fine because the next page is the last page for this comic.
>>132032822 Eggman just fucking roasted Snively, goddamn.
>>132032823 Would last only as long as Eggman does or until his orgone drive gives out (which again, will last only as long as Eggman does). If he was Neo Metal or Shard, he could probably end up self-sustaining or the like (in the latter's case, Nicole could always work to patch him up or get help to do so), but normal Metal? Not really likely.
Speaking of Eggman and Snively, I have found a series of comics where an artist's self insert works for Robotnik and decided to make him... sexy? There's quite a bit of comics from this artist. There's also thinner versions of him. And just as interesting designs for Sonic and Knuckles.
>>132042251 I’ve seen some people that are legitimately pissed at Ian for killing Starline despite the fact that there’s literally nothing else that can be done with his character. If anything I’m glad Starline had a full arc before being killed.
>>132042251 Something really feels off about IDW Sonic. Before I just thought he was a watered down version of Archie Sonic but now I'm really looking at his actions, or lack of actions, and now his reactions.
>>132043035 People bring up how fucked up the Metal Virus arc was and yet people just bounce back from it. And Sonic went from "this is my fault" to "oh never mind" before the arc is over. It's like everyone is repressing the horrible stuff they've endured in not just the comic but the games. Imagine if someone starts going off on how the world feels wrong and that things aren't okay and Sonic and the Resistance just give that person a blank stare until they calm down and then pretend that the outburst never happened. Like someone from an alternate world trying to understand what's going on.
>>132043035 I'm like 99% certain Ian no longer cares. Hes not the head writer anymore and Sonic isn't allowed to express actual genuine emotion (so theres no way in hell they'd let him get away with reacting to Starline's death), so theres no point in putting in any effort into IDW Sonic's character.
Even him telling people that Starline was totally dead just came across as him trying to shut everyone up so they'd stop bugging him about it.
>>132042315 >If anything I’m glad Starline had a full arc before being killed. >had a full arc >FULL ARC HahHHAHAHAHAHhahAHAHA no. Gay Duck's arc was literally being BTFO'd as soon as he put one webbed foot out of the shadows.
>i've been working with the resistance for a week, something feels off >i heard about sonic being kept prisoner by eggman, the torture and threat of being executed >but sonic feels like he's had an easy life and nothing bad has ever happened to him >if something is bothering him or if there's anything wrong with him, he's really good at hiding it and that scares me
>metal sonic turned into a giant dragon thing and was defeated and taken into custody >then sonic released metal sonic after tails repaired him >why did he do that? >tails said that sonic felt that metal sonic would reform but that doesn't make sense >metal sonic just tried to kill all the heroes >why would he reform right after that?
>the metal virus has been taking over the planet >eggman has proven once again that he will kill us all if he is left unchecked and allowed to do as he pleases >i just hope sonic stops him before it's too late >i won't know because my arm is infected and it's gradually spreading >it'd be nice to have some super speed to reverse this a bit
>i've recovered from the metal virus >i don't remember what it was like being a zombot but i think i do subconsciously >i wake up from nightmares i can't remember but the feeling of dread is immense >i also remember the faces of people before i fully succumbed to the virus >that alone will haunt me for the rest of my life >i need to talk to a therapist or someone willing to listen >i saw sonic and asked him how he felt, he gave me this big smile and said he's never felt better before running off >how can that be? he's been through the whole thing and i haven't seen him show any signs of being troubled by it >and it's the most troubling thing, it's not a normal reaction
>i was at the party that eggman crashed >we were celebrating surviving the metal virus although i wasn't much in the mood to celebrate >sonic had arrived just in time to help us defeat eggman >and then he let eggman leave >he didn't even try to get him, he just said something about eggman eventually coming around >"eventually"
>there was a prison break >starline broke in and freed some of this world's worst villains >it was said they worked as a team >i went to see belle about what the resistance was going to do about it >she said she has a stack of paperwork to finish and that they'll look into it when they can >i went to see amy and asked her >she said that when they show themselves, sonic and the others will be ready >i went to see sonic >he was taking a nap in the same spot i saw him at several hours ago >the prison break happened today >did nobody tell him? did he find out and decided to sleep? >maybe something will be done
>sonic, tails, and belle just came back from eggman's city >they didn't even know it was there >how is that possible? how do you miss something like that? >never mind that >i was hearing them explain to amy and belle what had happened >a girl named surge attacked sonic and tried to kill him >she was angry at sonic and the doctors, wanting to kill them all >her goal sounded extreme but i can understand how she came to be that way >sonic didn't seem to >he just shrugged and started talking about how he bashed a dozen badniks in under a second >everyone clapped and amy tried to give sonic a hug >he dodged her and she fell flat on her face >nobody said anything as she got back up and pretended nothing happened >sonic then says that starline is dead and then a second later says he could use a chili dog
>>132044417 Even those two would still put in effort to try. Hell, for all that he's an egotistic narcissist at his worst, Archie Sonic would have more of a reaction to a man dying than "Big oof lul". Even Fleetway would probably feel somewhat bad about Starline's death, even if he found the man's actions abhorrent.
>it's time to act >i have all the evidence and testimonials to bring all of this to light >i don't know what's going on with everyone but sonic seems to be at the center of it >i confront him in private >it's a risk because it's just the two of us >why am i afraid? he's sonic, the world's greatest hero >i bring up everything and press him for answers >he's unnervingly upbeat and dismissive >i ask him if he feels guilt or have any troubled faults >he just smiles and shrugs >i tell him that metal sonic will never reform, that eggman will continue to find ways to make life miserable and will never change >even belle has realized this >sonic tells me that in time things can change for the better >i ask him how he's going to ensure that will happen >there's continuing the cycle and then there's putting an end to it >"whenever eggman tries anything, i'll be there to stop him" >how can he be so sure? after all this time? after so many near misses? >his mental state concerns me even more >he says he has to help tails with something and runs off >the last split second before he exits the room, our eyes meet >i didn't know sonic's head can turn that much
>sonic just knocked on my door and told me that there's a meeting >not in the usual place >it's in the basement >i didn't know resistance hq had one of those >this is also the first time that sonic has approached me >i can't decline >i immediately assume the worst but despite everything i've seen that's wrong with sonic, being a murderer isn't one of them >i hope that doesn't change
>if you're reading this then please disregard my previous statements >i'm in the process of deleting my prior entries and destroying the so-called "evidence" that i had >sonic was right, everything's fine >i'm just being paranoid >no matter what eggman tries, sonic will save the day >i believe in him >everyone deserves another chance to change their ways >it may take a while but eggman will calm down and see the value in a peaceful life >his next plan can't be any worse than the previous ones >there have been reports about tremors all over the planet >a couple islands have been swallowed up by fissures in the ocean >entire towns gone in the blink of an eye >looks like eggman's up to something again >can't wait for sonic to stop whatever he's cooking up
>>132044865 One that can express emotions and isn't a fucking lunatic who either quips at everything and takes nothing seriously or is the sort of psychopath who thinks genocidal tyrants can be "redeemed" and mocks a man's mindbreak and death. So, anything Pre-Colors.
Or, since we're never getting that level of character-writing for Sonic ever again so long as SEGA has any say, then Movie Sonic.
>i'd like to think my dear friend albert, even if he doesn't remember our first collaboration >the genesis wave worked better than expected >for a brief while i was god and given unparalleled power >i even left behind a copy of myself to play around with the old universe before it disappeared >this new world is perfect >i can do whatever i want and get away with it >any failure i encounter is a minor setback >sonic just lets me do what i want >he doesn't try to hunt me down or stop me or anything >it's the perfect set up for THE GAME >and the best part? >no meddlesome princess
I know this comes out of nowhere, but how could Maximillian Acorn just talk normally again and come out of his coma while still in crystal form? Was he just getting better because Sonic went into his dreams in Issue #43, or did I miss something?
>>132045350 >>132045402 They managed to get Big, so they probably came to SOME agreement with the mandates. But I wouldn't be surprised if the reason Prime is taking so long and has minimal info is because they're trying to fight their way through Sega's pants-on-head retarded mandates.
>>132045845 >That's not being crushed under junk. So what is she climbing out of in the panel to the right, if not a pile of junk that was previously crushing her? Sonic, at worst, paraphrased how the fight ended, because a more accurate description would be really unpleasant to reflect on and verbally troublesome to say out loud. "She was hit by a pile of junk, which knocked her off her precarious position on the side of a cliff, into a hole where it presumably crushed her."
>>132045940 She fell. Sonic's obviously covering up. I don't know why he would say otherwise. He knows what happened. I guess saying she fell down a pit would leave things ambiguous but saying you saw her get crushed would make it seem like you saw her die.
>>132046019 Evan is clearly trying to put in the effort with shit like Belle and the plot point of her jacking into the Eggnet. The problem is, none of it matters. Belle's biggest characterization comes from her trying to make Eggman recall all the good he did as her father, Mr. Tinker and Eggman is completely mandated against lasting change or consequences to his actions. Meaning that her entire arc and narrative value as a character is pointless and irrelevant.
Evan is in just as bad of a boat as Ian is. Difference is that she hasn't been ground down to the point of sheer apathy (yet).
>>132046025 He makes the reasonable assumption that a person falling down a hole with an enormous pile of junk over head was in fact, crushed by said junk. And, he's not wrong, as the next we see of Surge is her clambering out of a pile of junk. He leaves out the part about the cliff and the hole because there's no point in squicking out Tails and Belle with the gory details of how a woman died in front of him. There is no cover up, there is no lie. There is, at worst; a reasonable assumption that's going to bite Sonic in the ass when Surge comes back, probably a few pages later.
>>132045497 I don't like theorising much about the behind the scenes stuff because it's always just made up shit but twittershit has definitely infected Ian or somebody's brain. Which I suspected from reading IDW sonic but damn.
>>132046157 they're all real badniks from various games, which is why they look weird bunched together. Either too much effort to design original IDW ones or too long a process having to get their robot design approved by Iizuka-San.
>>132046146 Sonic I don't know what your deal is trying to lie to your friends and then come on Korean scriptureboards and lying to anons but this needs to stop. It's so much better to simply say you saw her fall down a hole rather than saying she was crushed to death. You didn't see her get crushed, you didn't even see her fall, you just made an assumption and it was the wrong one. I'm onto you.
>>132046101 She probably has a hidden virus that will activate later on. That would explain why shes still being used.
But honestly asking, can any complex story actually engage the reader with these slow release schedules IDW has ? Someone mentioned that IDW writes for trades , but does mean they cant bother making any self contained story issues ? Cause waiting 4 months for an actual story to complete really sucks.
>>132046291 >does mean they cant bother making any self contained story issues During Imposter Syndrome the main series was pretty much self contained stories and filler, even if the campfire arc had a brief glimpse of Surge and Kit, it was just about girls having fun and then a fire breaks out. I don't even know what the point of the Chaotix issue was aside from taking up an issue..
>>132046629 IDW Sonic would fuck off and go on adventures while Eggman takes over the world. Archie Sonic would cuck everyone and beat the shit out of Eggman the first chance he gets. It can't be stated how much Archie Sonic loved fucking with Eggman. This is the Sonic that spent most of his life sneaking into Robotropolis to screw him over in some way. IDW Sonic just rolls with it and is fine waiting for action to come to him.
>>132046972 IDW Sonic would actually do well in the StC world. He'd get along with everyone and help out when he can while going on adventures. Amy wouldn't really pressure him to join since she'd be running the group and has worked without him for a while. StC Sonic would piss everyone off because he'd keep pushing them to help take down Eggman. He'd search most of the planet for all his bases and get in Eggman's face whenever he can. After Metal Virus, he would go straight for Eggman's head and knock him out. Fighting Surge would have him tell her that her methods are wrong and that no matter what she should strive to be a hero like him. Then he'll tell her that she can either help him take down the doctors or get out of his way. His conviction and drive wins her over and they team up to take on Eggman after he beats Starline.
>>132047085 >super sonic during metal virus Zavok gets his ass beat even faster and more brutally and Super Sonic almost kills everyone before returning to normal. Eggman would probably not even want to bother with Sonic for a while.
>>132047085 Holy shit that would be kino >sonic starts stressing out as the virus takes over >he eventually goes ape shit at the very last second >proceeds to absolutely annihilate everything >everyone bands together to stop him
>>132042251 >>132043019 Unlike other incarnations, this Sonic was captured by Eggman for six months, forced to watch helplessly as his planet was taken over. He's still a hero trying to do the right thing, but he wont let anyone see how much it messed him up. He puts on a brave face, but it slips out in his dulled interpersonal skills. This is a broken Sonic, playing the role of "Sonic the hedgehog". >>132044120 >>132044327 >>132044628 >>132044814 100% this >>132044889 That or amnesic IDW Slutnik
>>132046972 >stc sonic finds mr. tinker and not only stands up for him but even stays with him in the village or convinces him to come with sonic >never lets metal sonic go, doesn't even let tails repair him (calls him a pixel brain for even suggesting it) because fuck badniks >does not like belle at first but when he finds out she was made by mr. tinker he does his best to protect her Fleetway Sonic loves Kintobar so much that Mr. Tinker would be the best thing ever for him. I can see him being unsure of how he feels about Belle but I think he would ultimately like her.
>>132047569 >but even stays with him in the village or convinces him to come with sonic This would honestly have been a better way to handle Sonic's interaction with Mr. Tinker so that Eggman didn't come back because Sonic deserted his post. >never lets metal sonic go >does not like belle at first but when he finds out These are also great ways to go about it. You could even have him try and use Belle to make Eggman remember being Mr. Tinker... which makes Belle relevant to the main character and his motivations... y'know the one thing she never has been.
>>132046972 >StC Sonic meets Dr. Starline >Sonic: And I thought Grimer had it bad. >Starline: You could never get his genius! His scope! His ability-- >Sonic: Scratch that, Metamophia wasn't love sick as you.
>>132047314 Thanks! >>132047466 He remembers crying in the past but doesn't know how anymore. He knows the world needs "Sonic the hedgehog", so he acts like he thinks Sonic would, but occasionally gets it wrong since he can't read emotions as well as he could.
He also can't fake a full range of emotions so he pretends to shrug things off with humor. Reacting with "Big oof" is an attempt to redirect the conversation with a quip because he doesn't know what to feel about Starline's death.
