tl;dr days/weeks/months, especially if you have a day job.

Script: 30m to a full day.
Depending on skill, story length, tendency to get new ideas (especially for entirely different stories!) when you go to bed or how prone you are to regretting everything when you wake up (rightfully or wrongfully).

Drawing: rough (for a page) can be anything from 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Inks are however many Ctrl+Z'ds you need along with fixing the rough when it doesn't work. The arcane art of colouring can take even longer.
Skill reduces this but skill also introduces the knowledge of and desire to do interesting things, especially if you're being influenced by good artists (good luck with finding them in comics). Art style also massively helps or hinders, especially if there's no solution to dynamic posing.
Two key things are confidence and the extensiveness of your brain's pose library. Those kill amateurs.

Original content is harder, especially if you want to avoid being influenced by the majority of comics (trashy relationship drama if you read American, whatever the current awful Japanese copycatting is if you're a dirty weeb, and the usual 50% word balloon, characters standing around, plot stalling and badly drawn hands for any nationality's comics).

I can't imagine how professionals do this. Especially when it looks like they were given no time or formal education. The Sonic 2 movie prequel comic is an example of lots of problems.

Professionals split up the workload, I'm not sure any country has solved a solo writing->pencils->inks->colours outside of newspaper/webcomic strips. Even NSFW artists need to do this to not burn out despite the (survivor bias) money pits they seem to wallow in.

The original series quoted Bible verses and had Knuckles resurrect, walk on water, lead his people to the promised land, and generally perform miracles. This is actually somewhat watered down. I always tell people that the comic, good or bad, is at least entertaining. If you can appreciate some "so bad it's good" parts then you'll enjoy it overall. It's nowhere near perfect but it's not boring.

Penders really has left an awful shadow over the comic. Pretty much everything pre-Ian gets taken out of context or attributed to him. Slightly off artwork? "Damn Penders at it again!" A story written by Gallagher or Bollers? "What does Penders think he's doing?" Over half the people who meme about Penders probably never even read Archie.

IDW is just watered down Archie and that's by virtue of the writers and carryover plot elements and even characters. It would be nice to just tell people that like IDW to read Archie as well. The great thing about the Archie Ride threads is that it exposed people to comics they otherwise wouldn't have gone out to read on their own. Something similar on a larger scale could net more fans.

When you get a little older, say 5-10 years, you might realise youtube personalities don't matter, other people are allowed to like shitty things (and your thing might be shitty too!) and there have always been children who say they want a srs Sonic story.

Unless he's actually stated otherwise (fuck watching a 50 minute video to find out), he's probably just aware the publisher is called IDW and has read nothing. If you want to lower your opinion of him so you can get over yourself, take note of how much of his public content is heavily flawed popshit, hell being 99% Japanese fanart/talk should trigger you for how insulated from "better things to be impressed by" those people get when they solely consume shovelface and Pokémon.
