There's a lot more to it that is hard to try and put it briefly:

There's a TVTropes page for it with a featured comic strip that is basically every animu ever. It's like if Luke Skywalker confronted the Emperor and his faith in his friends stopped him from being zapped at all, let alone half to death.

In stories where the actual power of friendship exists, you don't call it that because it isn't stupid.

Pretty much this. People substitute "teamwork" or other words because the cliche has been so terribly tainted by terrible depictions that using the term "Power of Friendship" is often the hallmark of every bad story/shonen manga ever.

They tried with Forces. It was promising too but the autism collected was too diluted compared filtered through corporate mass market policy compared to the concentrated source and the supply didn't last as long.

Too much work for Izuka.

On top of making the levels, ST would have to make up a new cast of characters to match up with their old ones or develop the few that Blaze already has (Gordon, Marine, Capt. Whisker, etc).

They barely do that with Sonic, no way Izuka would put any effort into Blaze.

Plus, the bean counters would hate it because they wouldn't know how to mine Blaze's world for nostalgia or stamp Sonic's name on the title (although you could use "SONIC STORIES" as a sub title)

I would assume that The Thing was the most popular FF character and they only wanted him but needed a reason for him to be around some kids because that's what HB wants. It was either that or he'd be solving mysteries with a group of kids or be in a not-Jetsons future setting.
