From the interview, it looked like the plot's independent, but does end up being broadly similar to Flynn's. That said, having the siblings team up with all of their friends, have a final battle, and put on a concert where they perform with Queen Aleena to defeat Robotnik is probably how the original show would've ended. Allena's scepter transforming into a microphone was a nice touch. The super transformations were cool, but weren't really necessary.

Yeah, Knuckles is in four of the episodes, but his dinosaur only shows up in one. Interestingly, Fleetway Knuckles spends a whole issue talking to the ghosts of the dinosaurs his ancestors hunted to extinction. It was pretty weird.

The amazing thing is that it predates SA2 by 2 years, but the color scheme and form are mysteriously similar.

Now, I know it's probably just a coincidence, but still, mysterious.

I honestly liked their portrayal of Knuckles. It was nice seen him go toe to toe with Sonic, and I loved that he unironically hated music... and stayed that way (normally they would have made him appreciate it/come to like it by the end of his arc or some shit, but no... he hated music and hated it all the way through).
