Sonic literally already does that - Eggman embodies the worst of environmental destruction, and ruthless industrialization gentrifying everything to death. I think its environmental message that lies in the background is better than any overt attempt to try and tackle issues that fancomic artists create.

In Sage's case, Sonic actually can find and talk to her on various spots across the islands and she doesn't immediately attack him. And she repeatedly hints that she's actually trying to stop him for a greater purpose. Surge just wanted to blindly murder him.

The monorail episode will always be my favorite, but that's got to be one of the best jokes of the entire series. Most comedies would've just left it at Homer falling down the gorge, but to have the helicopter bonk him on the head was genius since you think that's the end and never see the ambulance crash coming. Sega doesn't care but itchio has a rule against people selling fan content. I think the workaround is to list it for free and allow someone to give money when downloading it. But even then there are some Sonic fanzines being sold for money on there. So itchio doesn't seem to care either. I'd say it's fine.
